So I had this idea pop into my head for a new mechanic to be added to the RPG. Hiding, a mechanic that would prevent people from being able to sneak you at first opportunity. I think being sneaked attacked as soon as you make 5000 or find a rare can be rather discommoding. I'm not against sneaking don't get me wrong, I love that it's a thing here because random encounters are a staple of RPGs and knowing someone can come for you out of nowhere makes things more engaging.
My reasoning for proposing this is that I think adding the ability to Hide would add more engagement and a facet of strategy. Plus I think it makes sense from an RP standpoint for people to have a way of keeping themselves from being found on the whim of a pursuer. When you happen to play as a character that is exceptionally intelligent or has a high standing in their organization and wells of resources it makes sense that they can have the means to stay under the radar and cover their tracks to keep themselves from being found.
Hiding Mechanics:
-A player is able to go into hiding by declaring it in their update. When hiding attempts to sneak attack that player character have a one week delay imposed upon them. (exp, making the initial sneak attack you'll have a timer at [0/1])
-What determines the success of hiding is the Intelligence trait. The threshold that determines whether the sneak attacker can initiate it without the delay is having an intelligence value that surpasses that of the character that is being attacked. If intelligence values are equal then there is a 50/50 chance that it will be delayed or not delayed. Via Dice Roll, perhaps d4, [1-2=sucess, 3-4=fail]
-When Hiding you cannot do a job, you're on the run, and off the grid.
-Any type of training can be done while hiding. This includes master training, I believe masters would be willing to provide sanctuary for their students.
-You cannot hide while searching for rares. If you're looking for things many other people have a vested interest in pursuing like Dragon balls than you're not laying low. Sidekick/Henchmen can, but they will not be safe from sneak attacks.
-Hiding does not protect you from outpost sneaks unless you are in the same organization as the aggressor and have an equal or higher rank.
Possible Implications:
-Safely accumulate zeni with less risk of losing it from a zeni sneak.
-Give a possible ally time to travel to the planet where you're being sneak attacked so they can jump and help(This doesn't change the admin ruling that battle allies can not intercept the actions of initial sneak posts).
-Hide from characters hunting bounties.
I'd love to get your guy's feedback on this. Do you think its interesting or stupid? Is it good or is it ass, etc? I'm also open to questions and suggestions.
