To promote more stories being written I'd like to suggest the below two additions/changes.
Custom Quest: A custom prompt consisting of at least 1,800 words. Write a story about your character interacting with the world in some way. Your thread should add something to the lore of the planet- revealing information about the environment, creatures, people, etc. (Basically, it should not be a thread that would make sense on every other planet.) Does not suffer any solo penalty to rewards.
Difficulty: Easy
Rewards: Double Easy Quest rewards
Limit: One per week.
Location: Exists on every planet. Custom Quests completed in space offer normal quest rewards, but the content is not restricted to a planet.
Personal Role Play:
This is a common form of roleplaying on the RPG. You simply create a new topic or reply to an old one and write a story about your character with one other player. The only limitations you have are to follow the roleplay rules posted on the rules page. You are welcome to post as many personal roleplays as you would like each week, limit one per other characters. Personal Roleplays require at least 600 words and reward 100z, 2 DP, +20 all stats, +20 EXP. Nothing can increase or decrease these gains. (So 2 people, each posting at least 600 words to be valid.)
Goals:
The goal for Custom Quests would be if you want to write a story about your character. Normal quests require you to follow a prompt, so this would allow more creativity and growth for your character. Requiring some sort of interaction with the planet will allow the players to add to a form of site lore/canon/consistency. For example, if player A writes about a village on Pefu, player B may read that and like the idea. Player B may write about it in their roleplays and add their own flavors to it, to which player C may read and take interest, etc. If you do not wish to contribute to this and would just like to write about your character, you can post the roleplay to space and forfeit the extra gains. The reason I think this is beneficial/important is because to write a personal story, you either have to write a PRP (bad gains) or a Psaga (3k words). Most people can manage 1,800 words just fine.
The goal for Personal Role Play is to do what spars are currently doing. The idea is that you and one other character would interact in some way, shape, or form. This gives less gains than a spar, but offers a way to interact. By adding this, you can require a spar to have actual combat. People use spars as a way to interact because other forms of interaction are so limited. The rewards were determined by comparing the rewards for a 5k Psaga, dividing by 5,000 words, and multiplying by 600 (minimum spar word count for forum spars.)
Summary:
Promoting roleplay and creativity for both solo writing, story telling, and interaction with others would be a healthy thing for the site. Currently there are not enough outlets for writing. A quest requires a prompt be followed, a prp gives little gains and is the least common choice for threads, a psaga requires a huge investment of words. People love spars because they don't have all these requirements and give respectable gains. How fast will new characters grow if they are rewarded for writing? And the reason that passives/items/etc don't affect gains is because these are not meant to be main sources of growth but rather outlets for writing and interaction.
Edit: (Kudos to Jay/Digu). For a custom quest, if done on a planet, there should be a short (Like... 20-50 words max) summary about what happened, what was added (Whether it be a species of creature, plant, a location, etc). If you were to write about saving 'Strawberry Village' from a group of villains who want to mine its precious gems which are considered holy, you may write "<Character name> saved Strawberry Village from attack. Strawberry Village is a village on the southeast region of Earth. It is known for its rubies, which are coveted by outsiders but considered holy to the villagers.
