Jingle Bells [Morrigan(Dead) vs. emi(W)][Ref: Joe]

One would think someone from hell wouldn’t like ice and snow, but that at least was a misconception. Hell had many frozen tundras. After all, cold was a great method of physical and mental torture. It actually had most extreme climates, and piskie demons were like hell’s roaches. You could find them everywhere and they were terribly durable. They evolved to handle extreme temperatures. Emi still felt hot and cold, but it stopped there. Just freezing temperatures felt the same to her as double digits below zero. Out on Pefu she was cold, but the blood freezing temperatures on the moon’s surface might as well have been just enough for a light snow.

Emi didn’t even remember her life in hell, though if she ever returned she’d maintain certain instincts. Perhaps she had once been attuned to one of those tundra sections of hell though, because despite her explosive nature she had more fun on Frieza and Pefu playing with the snow. The reality was probably simpler. Snow was simply a fascinating ever changing concept to children.

So she took her next section of time to ‘greef’ on Pefu. She had a real good time hunting snow beasts and monsters, ice fishing, and skiing. Skiing wasn’t sledding though and it took her some time to find the perfect hill for it. It was her venture of the day: find the perfect hill for sledding; and when she finally found it she planted her stick and hung her scarf on it like a flag of ownership.

Emi was never completely off guard, even though she could seem completely air headed. She was the type to not even notice something right in front of her and yet if something attacked her she would usually have the time and instinct to avoid it. That was her guard, forged in hell where you had to have fun even though everything was trying to kill you. It was this instinct that would save her from Morrigan’s first attack, because in the rushing wind and shouted ‘Wahoo!’s, Emi didn’t hear the greeting at all. Instead that sense of danger impeded her fun and ruined her first sled ride.

The woman would not have to try hard to earn her ire.

Unfortunately, her instinct was for herself. Seeing the swing before it even began, she leapt up, forgetting her sled. The blade crashed into the metal structure and grossly bent it out of shape where it did not simply carve in a tear.

Emi’s eyes widened, and she ducked out of her attacker’s strike as it came so she could get to her sled.

There was a split second of time and suddenly the air became tremendously heavy as a sharp tidal wave of anxiety rolled over the snow front with the speed of a bullet train. It struck everything hard, refusing to subside as anxiety was replaced by mania, something no fighter truly needed, and Emi’s body was shrouded in a murky black.

That split second was all she needed to absorb what damage had befallen her sled and her red eyes snapped to Morrigan as the woman split in three.

”Grinch!” she shouted and a rush of psychic power exploded, cracking open the ice in front of the Morrigans as huge chunks of it shot up around the piskie demon. The thick crust of Pefu’s icy shell was stronger than most irons and the will needed to manipulate it had to have been devastating. The swords would have to tear through the shards as well as avoid them shooting up from under her to make it into Emi’s sarcophagus, and that’s what she wanted.

Some of the strike would reach her but the only reaction was Emi’s red eyes staring at her like a dead fish before, as Morrigan prepared the next strike, she seemed to vanish.

The first strike cracked open the ice further but the Piskie demon was small and fast, stupid fast, and escaped behind the jagged terrain. She had the edge as Morrigan shifted her weight to turn and try and reach her for the next one, zigging through the ice as the weapon crashed into more giant shards, cleaving off the rigid endings like they were made of wax.

And then her plan hit a dead end—literally.

While Emi could notice something coming at her, that said nothing of her running into things and the clear surrounding of white caught her as she bumped right into a structure. The bump slowed her down enough that Morrigan’s blade finally found purchase, cutting into her enforced clothes and finding her small body.

She had turned, as most would, in time to be blinded. Her small face scrunched up as she squinted her eyes. Everyone kept blinding her! It was especially bad in the white surroundings, and she blew a raspberry at the warrior.

On cue, the small furry rabbit-like creature attached to her bag, unattached itself and went zooming at Morrigan like a hummingbird, zigging, zagging, and spinning as it shot two small but intense beams at her.

At the same time, Emi’s energy began to rise and with it that feeling of manic distress.

It happened in an instant. The girl was there, her face still scrunched up in misery, and then, just like that she was in Morrigan’s space barreling into her with all her strength and power. It was like a bomb exploding, and gave equal warning, or lack there of.

Morrigan’s attacks struck the blind girl, but not before they dug deep into the black aura around it which grew and shimmered like flame that had just been fed very dry kindling. She hardly reacted to it or Dodoco getting destroyed and focused instead on her own attack.

When it was finished she spun and tapped gently off the damaged woman to take to the air mostly using her own ki versus any additional impact. This gave her an aerial view of the split form, which is why an aerial attack caught her slightly off guard.

She spun in the air like she was a fish in water and attempted to kick the hilt of the massive sword to destabilize the new fighter and weaken the blow. It cut into her shoulder but closer to the bottom of the blade where less force and motion was carried through.

It jumbled her up as the woman tried to spin over her but she kept pressed to the first copy so the next swing couldn’t benefit from as much momentum. She was small and the weapon was really big, so she’d take advantage of that to reduce as much of the swing as she could and make it harder for Morrigan to attack her. This didn’t mean the next attack missed, but she’d be damned if the mean lady got her way completely.

”Hey!” she shouted as she saw the blade eat up her blood while they were still pressed together. She hadn’t forgotten there were two copies however, and as the second one attacked she repeated her motion on the first Morrigan: spinning to kick off the woman she was pressed to and propeled herself away with a burst of ki. There was a great difference in speed and Emi wouldn’t let her get too close.

”Why are you so slow now?!” she demanded, seeming insulted. The next slice came down and this time Emi merely caught it with her bracer cuff as she supported it with her other hand, and pushed all her buffed strength into her arm to push it and its explosion backward.

The woman vanished again, and her speed quickened, but it was still disastrously slow to the piskie who decided to vanish in a similar fashion to how Morrigan had been, almost as if showing her how it should be done. The blade sliced and diced an after image so powerful it didn’t completely dissipate until she was done as the piskie used her speed to escape back in the air above, expecting the woman to move even slower if she had to jump or use ki to reach her.

”You suck lady!” she shouted as her energy grew again, ignoring the obvious damage taken and refusing to back down in any way. The blood red clover appeared above her before shooting a beam down from its center. The sheer power and speed of it split the air with a roaring wind before it crashed down upon the weakened Morrigan just to explode in a giant firestorm to catch the other two. Steam was mixed with smoke as the barren icy field was momentarily set ablaze.

She didn’t wait from there and dove down like a rocket as soon as the attack ended. Like a bomber her dive released two blasts at each clone as she scraped by right above their heads only to repeat the motion like a hawk who’d found its prey and chose to strike.

”I don’t care about my speed, stupid!” Emi shouted back in defiance. ”You aren’t as strong as before either lame-o!”

Morrigan was really barking up the wrong tree if she expected Emi to have any type of pride in her own skills. Even as her great explosion was drastically reduced and repurposed, she felt no qualms in it. She could be forced to move like a glacier and she’d just see it as another challenge. Hell, Rocket made it so her explosions fixed things, or at least she thought he did—she was still a little confused on all that, so she made do and tore everything apart with her bare hands. Like anyone she might complain if she couldn’t fight at her full potential but she’d say things like it was ‘unfair’ and ‘cheating,’ not ‘you suck.’

She didn’t care that she was fast, and Morrigan not being as fast as her wasn’t her complaint. The woman had shown Emi true awesomeness by splitting into three and attacking her with strength and speed that literally cleaved through glaciers. It wasn’t that Morrigan was slow in general, it was she was slow ‘now,’ as if the woman was no longer giving Emi her all and that made her suck indeed. These versions of Morrigan were crappy compared to the first showing.

The child minded demon had no way of knowing the first attack was a special and more limited technique, but she refused to be overwhelmed by this weaker version of Morrigan. As if to prove this she stayed still in the air as they leapt at her.

They weren’t ants they were gnats, and she met them appropriately with a fly zapper. Their blades cut into her but in doing so their metal bases picked up her electrical aura. It shot down at lightning speed to go off in their faces and Emi’s face did not change from crude disappointment. She was damaged, but not nearly as bad off as she would have been if full strength Morrigan had attacked her.

At the word Azara however, her eyes did change, or maybe it was a mirage in the icy reflections. They seemed to shimmer from their glowing red to a darker blood color and her childish indignation was replaced by a dead stare that would send shivers down the spine of any hell native.

It was like meeting the gaze of an Old One, those who took the strongest powers from hell itself.

”I am Unit 3M63R,” she said as the feeling changed again, her eyes turning cold and robotic as the chaotic feeling in the air intensified and she seemed to shimmer in the cold air.

It was another after image and in that same split second Emi was there at Morrigan’s side, pushing her hand towards the woman’s wounded stomach. Electric energy expanded from it as it shot forward, creating a giant net that quickly twisted with Emi’s speed to try and snap around her opponent.

The piskie demon didn’t pause, pressing back against Morrigan as her energy grew. Her small hands had shifted into demonic claws that moved to bury themselves into the woman’s body as ki whipped out of the tips meaning to slice her like cheese.

”Azara’s Army is nothing to the Shadowguard.”

Again there was that hint of knowledge, but maybe it was just masked in her tone being so absolute, as if she were saying that her head was attached to her body. It was clear and simple fact, though any demon would scoff at the notion of a moral army matching them.

Well, they would try, but Emi would not let them take such a breath.

She vanished again, her speed slipping her behind the woman as her foot spun into a kick towards Morrigan’s body. On impact, or simply at the end of her leg’s extension, ki exploded and Emi went up in the same smoke only to appear in front of Morrigan to send a powerful roundhouse kick to her hopefully sprawling body. This too exploded, signaling the piskie’s disappearance. This time she appeared above Morrigan, shooting down like a rocket to dig her heels into the woman’s neck.

Emi blinked at Morrigan’s words. It seemed to pull her out of her stupor returning her gaze to its bright childish glimmer. The woman lunged at her, finally showing real strength again but Emi caught this on her bracer as well and pushed the blade off course only to stare up at Morrigan.

”Just for that?” she asked as her aura sparked up. It poured down her arms and made her deadly claws glow a magnificent red and she once more attempted to drive one hand right into the woman’s damaged stomach.

The ki released, creating a small explosion that pushed them apart and Emi flipped in the air before landing gracefully and pointing a finger at Morrigan, wherever she ended up.

”I don’t know what you’re doing with you life, lady!” she said, and any authoritative presence was gone as she was obviously attempting to mimic someone else’s words—probably Yan’s. ”But the Shadowguard is so fun! They let me build all the bombs I want, and beat up recruits, and splode anything! I get to go on trips extarminating things! And then I catch big delicious fish and play in the water and the snow and go sled—“

In her speech her face suddenly twisted up with sadness and she turned away from her opponent and tried to find her broken sled in the rubble. With no luck, her face hardened and her gaze slowly moved back to Morrigan.

”And,” she said darkly, her face slowly changing again to a dead smile that was especially chilling coming from a child. ”The captain will clean up Emi’s messes.”

Both claws glowed a thicker red creating small daggers on her fingers. She kicked hard off the ground in another burst of wicked speed and she was on Morrigan again, obviously considering her the mess she planned to make. She sent one ki sharpened claw scrapping across her flesh. The next one attempted to dig in with a stab before the last one attempted to rip her apart from throat to hip.

”If you like hell so much, Emi will send you back there!”

”If you can’t enjoy life without me,” she said, pushing her strength into the clash so the pressure would be kept upon Morrigan. ”Come at me!”

Again, she was mimicking Yan. He was always picking on his subordinates and making them think about things. He also always made the arguments about himself. It seemed appropriate here, even when she didn’t completely understand it. Morrigan attacked her out of the blue, and now wanted to enact a revenge scheme if she ended up dead? It was silly to Emi and made some sense of her own words. Morrigan must have been really unhappy! She must need some type of motivation to actually do things in this dimension and start liking it!

Emi didn’t realize the truth in that was probably that Morrigan needed a more attainable motivation than the epic quest she was already on that was moving far too slow for her.

Pushing in harder, Emi got her face closer to Morrigan’s and then grinned. I’ll play with you anytime!”

The effect of Morrigan’s power was strange to the demon, but recognizable and immediate. The Shadowguard had attempted many tranquilizers on her in the past, trying to regain control of their experiment. Ultimately they all failed because the piskie adapted very quickly. She got used to the feeling and moved onto base instinct until her wobbly brain could reconnect. Her base instinct was always protective of herself, and to murder.

Disconnected though, it felt floaty, and in that little sphere of consciousness she saw Morrigan attack her again. Electric sparkly power! And then she’d heft that super sword three big times and actually catch Emi up in damage.

Morrigan broke away, and Emi’s eyes remained unfocused but as the woman moved so did she in almost a dance, side stepping the first slice as if she understood the timing perfectly. Those unfocused red eyes glowed then and her speed increased as she kept to the dance, moving as Morrigan did and feeling the path of the weapon before it swung. She jumped over this swipe, her legs tucked up like a deer, and then her mind connected again.

Instinct vanished and the connection was like a computer rebooting. There was a lag as all its energy was pushed into that final start up. It was like when you accidentally agreed to download an update and suddenly your computer slowed down annoyingly while you were trying to watch youtube, only the update was Emi’s own mind.

The last slice crashed into her while she was still in the air, ripping into her armored coat and grabbing at her body. She could feel the individual tearings of her flesh as she became almost hyper aware when the final wires snapped together. She pushed away with her ki so the slice would carry all the way through without cutting her in half, and crashed into a mound of fresh snow, cracking the hard ice underneath it due to the force of her own throw.

”Ow, ow, ow,” she said, gripping her side. Her claw pressed to the wound and burned it shut with another small yelp from the girl, but luckily Morrigan’s druggy effect made the pain more tolerable.

She looked back to the woman and her aura flared up around her, stronger than ever before. It was like a wicked flame rising from a bomb fire, blurring the air in its heat even as the ice around her became steam. It was so large it reached into the sky and filled the surrounding area like it was kindling, rolling and sparking over the ice explosively.

Emi rose and her body shifted. Her fangs protruded and her claws sharpened until she looked like a grotesque demon one would find in a painting meant to scare the unbelieving.

Like her first attack, the effect of her speed was devastating. It wasn’t quite as instantaneous but a fire of such size should not be able to move so quickly. The entire aura moved at unthinkable speeds like a beast of a storm in an attempt to envelop the woman entirely, and drown her in destructive ki that would rip apart her flesh. At the while, it followed the dragon as she tried to barrel into Morrigan once again.
