Towa (Winner) vs Nexus (Dead) (Tier 3 Bounty Battle)

Nexus was not supposed to be seen outside of the Damaskian Robotics Division's military base. But even the more boring and dry Androids needed to get out and stretch their legs once in a while. It had been a long time since she had faced an opponent that was anywhere near her equal. Floating in the air, she engaged her built in radar to sense for any nearby power levels. She was pleased to see their was an adequate warrior very near by. A teal-skinned Demon in a skin tight jumper had taken off in her direction. Colliding with her elbow first, the Android was surprised how quickly she was brought to the ground. Her circuitry sprang to life in a way that her Central Processing Unit had not experienced in quite some time. Standing up, Nexus could tell that the Demon had already cast her next attack, which hit the ground with a large cloud of smoke.

Nexus managed to escape to the outer perimeter of the attack in time to avoid the toxicity of the attack, but a similar follow up attack clashed with the ground and Nexus found herself unable to move.

"What is... happening?" the Android wondered as her processors fought to understand the situation. They identified the type of device that was used against her, but unfortunately the Android had no form of defense equipped to fight against its effects. While still unable to move, Nexus was struck by an energy attack meant to keep her further constrained. She struggled to break away from the effects of the attack, ready to engage the newcomer.

”I am Towa of the Academy and I am here to stop you!” the Android's challenger introduced herself. Nexus stood quite still, analyzing the Demon and not bothering to acknowledge her with a response. Instead, she abandon her poor excuse for a disguise and transformed into a more suitable form for battle. Abandoning most of her features meant to give the impression of organic life, the Nexus that emerged was clearly bionic in nature. White armor with orange trim covered most of her body as a transparent visor covered her face. Nexus took a good hard look at the Demon as her processing units passed along information to the rest of her systems that could have been beneficial. 

"Indeed. An organic lifeform," Nexus confirmed her suspicions. "I have not faced one in some time."

Nexus removed a small vial of concentrated toxins from inside a recessed mechanical pocket that was formed in her hip. She threw the fragile container at the Demon and waited as the potent fumes contained within the liquid filled the air with invisible and odorless vapors in a large area. Nexus hypothesized that the particular toxin she had stored would be useful against someone with a similar genetic makeup as the one she looked at now.

Hoping the poisonous gas would soon take effect and stunt the Demon's coordination, Nexus took off in the air with an arm cocked back. As she quickly approached her target, a loud whirring sound could be heard building up under the metal plates of her mechanical arm. A powerful right hook was launched towards the Demon at point blank range, before Nexus landed back on the ground and formed a defensive position.

Nexus' opponent sprayed fire from her mouth, singeing the exterior of the Android's body quite significantly.

"Fire..." Nexus said, staring into the flames ever so briefly with a look of stress. Her programming acted on her behalf, diminishing the flames of the Demon's second plume by casting a fire-killing spray into the air that quickly expunged the flames. She had not seen flames in quite some time, but it was enough to nearly set off her flashbacks; something she did not quite understand herself.

Weaker blasts of energy took Nexus out of her trance as the exploded on her body. The damage was light but nonetheless woke Nexus' senses in ways she had not experienced in far too long. 

"More!" Nexus cried out, less to her opponent and more to the pain she was experiencing, as the welcome ball of flames as it exploded against her body. This attack hit much harder than the last and left traces of smoke coming off of her metallic skin. 

"Even harder!" Nexus cried out, sounding like a foolish glutton for pain. A swirling disc of powerful energy began to form at the Demon's will and Nexus knew this was the attack she had been waiting for. She waited to be embraced by the powerful energy but her processing units, in protest with herself, cast a energized shield in front of the Android, saving the deadly disc from slicing her in two. Regardless of the fact that Nexus was still whole, the resulting explosion as the disc struck the Android's Barrier was enough to send her flying to the ground faster than she could stop herself. The blast from the explosion had briefly interrupted her processing units and the sensation of pain she had felt before had been pushed too far.

"That was careless of me," Nexus commented on herself. She thought of the Barrier her systems knew to cast to protect her. "That disc would have cut me in half."

Nexus Barely stood up as her opponent struck her down with a powerful chop once more. She wanted more pleasure from the thrill of the fight, but it seemed for the time being that the pain she was experiencing from the Demon's attacks was no longer doing it for her. She would have to find her joy in other methods.

"You are strong, Demon," Nexus said, addressing her opponent directly for the first time. As she spoke her body whirred and omitted lights between the cracks in her armor as she charged an attack. Looking straight to the Demon, a powerful beam of energy erupted from her eyes straight towards her opponent.

Nexus then charged towards her opponent, ready to engage in an exchange of physical combat with her. Sending a flurry of a dozen quick punches and kicks, designed to force her opponent into the air, Nexus felt she would surely keep her opponent on her toes at the very least. Ending her flurry with a slightly more powerful punch aimed to send the Demon into the sky, Nexus charged upward to hammer blow her opponent back towards the ground, before aiming a powerful kick towards her chest.

Nexus watched suspiciously as an hourglass hovered in the air, sapping a bit of her systems' strength.

"Magic?" Nexus wondered, not familiar with the strange technique.

One of the spears that had been hovering behind the Demon came flying at Nexus, which she allowed to damage her without defense. It was as though she was saying she wouldn't bother acknowledging attacks below a certain strength. That didn't stop them from damaging her systems though, which were already showing their wear from the battle.

Nexus seemed to get her wish as her opponent released a powerful burst of energy towards the Android. The Android wanted to stand firm and sustain the massive attack, but when her systems encouraged her to flee the force of the attack, she quickly gave in and disappeared in a blue blur. Nexus had given little thought to a proper defense against the Demon, but knew if she didn't cause some real damage to her opponent soon, the fight would be over before it really started.

"That won't do..." Nexus commented as she was hit with a spray of pink smoke.

Nexus' systems went haywire and it was as though as she could no longer see or sense her opponent.

"Enough of your magic," the Android said in a frustrated tone, as she began to tap into a well of energy stored within her inner components. She began to glow once more, just as she had when using the Bionic Punisher technique.

Nexus' systems took longer than she expected to recognize her opponent's presence again, but once they did she quickly poured all of her stored energy into one attack. Stretching two hands out towards her opponent, three powerful blasts of energy escaped her palms towards her location. 

Temporarily placing her systems into overdrive, Nexus continued her string of attacks with another powerful attack; this time as a deadly beam of energy aimed for her demonic challenger. She was using more energy in short unison than she knew was wise, but she was enthralled with sudden thought of hurting her opponent quite badly. 

After sending the two energy attacks, a large barreled weapon that was recessed inside of Nexus' arm became exposed and quickly shot a large round towards the Demon's last known location.

Nexus was irritated to see her own attack cast back at her but using her powerful bionic arm, slashed away its mighty power into the air. It trailed for miles, leaving a dimly lit pathway over the Damaskian Robotics Camp. In the distance, a large explosion could be heard and felt on the ground, but it seemed to travel far enough away that it would have missed any of the Damaskian Robotics property. Still, it might have summoned the attention of the authorities there who might have tried to shut down their fight; and that was the last thing Nexus wanted. She made a note that she would try harder to keep their battle discreet. That goal would prove to be challenging as the battle progressed.

Her opponent seemed to be struggling. Whether it was because of the virus attacking her heart or Nexus finally landing a reasonably powerful attack, it had caused Nexus' opponent a moment's displeasure. Nexus couldn't explain why, but she rather enjoyed seeing her opponent suffer and wanted to see it more.

Nexus' brief window of joy was closed by a powerful punch striking her in the chin. Nexus fell to the ground on her back, her systems feeling overwhelmed and glitching from the force of the punch. The Android had not suspected such a blow from her thinly framed challenger, even with the infusion of energy it combined itself with. 

Nexus hopped to her feet before was struck by a few physical attacks. Nexus heard her opponent reciting some incantation, charging energy, adding fuel to the flame of Nexus' suspicions of her opponent being a witch. Distracted, Nexus was hit hard with a blast of energy from the teal Demon.

"Sorcerer," Nexus let out. Though she didn't say it very loud, it was meant to be an insult to the Demon. Nexus respected the study of Ki, but frowned on tricks that were deceitful. As if on cue, the Demon exercised the use of another one of her tricks, an explosion that resulted in Nexus' body not responding to her commands.

"Stop your tricks and fight me," Nexus commanded her opponent, knowing their time was limited. While at close range, Nexus took flight as the Destructor hidden away in her arm revealed itself again with a powerful blast from one of its shells.

Flipping backwards in mid-air so that she had the higher ground, Nexus floated mid-air while holding a ball of energy in her palm, facing towards the Demon below her. Looking as though she was about to throw a small ball of energy, Nexus instead caused several balls of energy to come out of the one, casting themselves rapidly towards Nexus' target. As each ball of energy left its source, it began to burn with bright blue flames. Their heat could be felt from some distance and Nexus guided them all towards her mark, hoping to bring them to a point in a fiery explosion against the Demon's body.

Nexus continued to struggle comprehending the magical arts used by her Demon challenger. Her powerful flaming blasts had been reversed back onto her, striking Nexus with an electric shock. At almost the exact same time, the floating hourglass that was conjured by Nexus' opponent once more sapped some of her strength. The Android wondered how much more of her energy she would be forced to sacrifice to the hourglass before it would cease its intervention in their battle.

Nexus' opponent seemed to be forming an ultimate attack. The Android couldn't help but want to see the full potential of her challenger, but as a safety precaution began to charge some energy of her own. Nexus watched in awe at the display of powering emanating from the Demon. She quickly sought to replicate the Demon's power, preparing a nearly identical attack of the exact opposite phase. While a large amount of energy would have to be used, Nexus thought it worth it to neutralize such a threat. As Nexus' large beam of energy pushed towards the Demon's, they rivaled one another in a fierce spectacle as one tried its best to overpower the other.

Beyond exhausted and potentially dealing with potentially at least some of the damage from the clash of the two powerful attacks, Nexus sunk to the ground in a mix of exhaustion and what her systems interpreted as pain. She struggled to move, despite her central processing unit commanding her circuitry to do so. In protest of herself, Nexus slowly and shakily rose to her knees. Looking up to see the silhouette of her opponent blocking the sunlight, Nexus was suddenly blinded by an overwhelming bright light.

A loud crack took over Nexus' attention. Turning to the hourglass that had been floating nearby, she noticed the exterior of its glass body had cracked. Dark energy poured out of it until demonic and spiritual arms began to escape it, scrambling towards Nexus faster than the Android could prevent. Grabbing her and tearing her apart from all sides, the Demons left the Android half mangled on the ground. A few sparks shot across the ground out of a gash in her wrist.

"Systems check..." Nexus said quietly to order her own Central Processing Unit to do a comprehensive check of her internal systems. But for reasons beyond her, that order did not seem to be accepted by the processors normally under her control. 

"Syst-..." Nexus began to repeat her order before noticing her surroundings had changed. A fearsome sight... The one known as The Void was now present. He was certainly the strongest of The Steel Legion's powers. Next, another powerful presence was made known... Unit 5k was a powerful threat in his own right, second only to The Void's massive power, within the Steel Legion. 

"We sentence you to death!" Nexus heard the cybernetic creatures communicate to her. Nexus quickly ducked down and tried to find anything she could find behind, hoping that somehow she wasn't seen, or could "play dead". This strategy didn't work at all though, as Unit 5K grabbed the damaged bot and stretched her horizontally with his two primary appendages. The Void slowly approached, prepared to make Nexus an even less recognizable mess than she was before.

"This isn't right..." Nexus said to herself as the first of The Void's punches struck her. His large fist drilled pain into her systems like she had never felt before. "Something isn't right..."

Nexus couldn't quite put her finger on it, but something about her situation didn't make sense. For one... where did the Demon go? Surely she would not have abandon their fight with the arrival of the two legendary members of the Steel Legion? or would she? The other thing that bothered Nexus was that The Void and Unit 5k were not known for working together. They were specifically kept apart in the past. Their two powers were so great that they clashed with one another and made working together quite problematic. Though that was a long time ago, Nexus doubted that the two bots had mastered the kind of teamwork necessary to launch a team attack. Thirdly... Nexus was a Steel Legion loyalist. Why would two of its elite members be programmed to kill her? Was it because she escaped the nearby facility? Surely not...

"Brothers..." Nexus let out in a weak voice just before The Void's second punch knocked her silly again. 

"Brothers..." Nexus repeated. "State your most recent update notes."

Nexus listened in, but the two bots did not acknowledge her. Just then, she was struck once more by a large metal fist. Nexus knew she didn't have long. Nexus was convinced that surely the two powerful warriors must have been reprogrammed and were no longer loyal to the Steel Legion, but they would not even acknowledge her commands; something that was also quite unusual.

Nexus looked up. The sky had changed quite a bit and she had not noticed. Was it a result of her clash with the Demon? ...She wondered. Bolts of thunder ran horizontally across the dark skies with no thunder accompanying them.

"This isn't real," Nexus said to herself, realizing all at once what was happening. The Demon had trapped her awareness inside of her own processors. Nexus knew the only way she could have done that was if she were very familiar with an Android's design, as hacking the mind of a cybernetic being was much different than an organic one.

"Impressive... Demon..." Nexus said after getting slammed once more by The Void's fist. Despite feeling the massive strain on her body from the Demon's mental attack, Nexus tore apart her damaged arm so that was limb was partially free from Unit 5k's grip. She then turned her own wrist into herself and gave herself a massive shock. 

All at once, reality seemed to come crashing down on Nexus. Though her vision had been a mirage, the damage to her body had been very real. That included her damaged arm now being severed, held by her intact arm as she squatted on the ground. Her vision was still blurry from the Demon's attack with light, but she could tell she was in very rough shape.

"Quickly..." Nexus said to herself as instruction. She tried to jam her own arm back on herself in such a way that it would at least temporarily stay in place. Performing her strange balancing act, she retracted a large cylindrical tube from inside her leg. On one end, it had a few sharp prongs that seemed capable of piercing something. The Android quickly shoved the prongs into the center of her chest and let out an ugly cry as powerful jolts of electricity ran through her body, the light caused by it visible to the Demon. Nexus' challenger, meanwhile, had already thrown her next attack... a plume of flames which escaped from her mouth.

Had Nexus not already administered the Repair Kit to herself, the Demon's fire would have likely been the straw that broke the camel's back, leaving the Android defeated. But using the emergency device to restore some form of system restoration, Nexus was able to withstand the first attack along with another just like it, wincing as they burned the outside of her body.

Nexus stood up but was still unable to see. Tapping into her systems that did not rely on sight, she could sense her enemy's power rising as if she was about to launch another powerful attack.

"Where does all of this power come from?" Nexus wondered, surprised the Demon was able to prepare such strong attacks one after the other, without a massive strain on her body. She assumed it was likely another trick from the Demon's otherworldly magic.

Nexus began to power up, bringing her systems to the highest power they were able to withstand in her damaged state. As her opponent's power spiked, Nexus knew she only had a split second and seemingly disappeared from sight, reappearing only after the Demon's deadly punch had safely cleared Nexus' position. The Android then turned to her enemy as her sight seemed to be back in order. Seeing her enemy as her first sight after near destruction, the Android felt her rage firing up in a way she had never experienced before.

“Do all Demons battle with such dirty tricks?” Nexus responded to the Demon’s question with one of her own. As if prompted, Nexus was struck with another one of the Demon’s traps. Her body shocked from the surprise, Nexus felt her circuits overloading. Nonetheless, as the Demon’s flames came towards Nexus again; her on board systems went into action. Analyzing the Demon’s flames, a negative energy trapped at diffused the attacks harmlessly. 

Nexus would not have long to breathe. Her opponent began to charge a powerful finishing attack. Surprised at the amount of energy the Demon was expending on large attacks, Nexus nonetheless began to charge her own. Releasing a powerful blast of energy towards her opponent’s, the two blasts connected in mid air and swallowed one another. Their energy was out of phase with one another enough so that Nexus’ blast did nothing more than cover the damaging effects of the Demon’s deadly attack. The Demon wasn’t done though. Charging towards Nexus, the Android recognized an incoming physical attack and prepared accordingly. 

As the Demon approached her, Nexus threw a pair of jabs towards her opponent’s face before following up with a quick right hook, and another jab. Nexus then infused her right fist with energy and let loose of two equally powerful ki-charged punches. She hoped to end the physical exchange quickly and get back to the big explosions of an energy-heavy battle.
