Hello guys, girls and everything in between,
It's me, Dr Ghast, that guy who does your updates.
Let's talk about a few things that are starting to bug me with a select few of you and which can become a problem if this issue is not addressed properly. Those in question are by now long aware of who I am pointing this out to and I hope this will further motivate them to address these issues.
1. Use of selfmade or wrong names for techniques in updates and sheets:
I can clearly see the difference between honest to god typos and people not even bothering to remember what the heck they are learning, unlearning, etc. I don't take any issue if you write flmae shield or something, since that's an obvious typo, but don't go calling "Atomic Blast" Proton beam or something along that line, because this WILL confuse me if I am doing updates late at night or early in the morning, not to mention it either forces me to go look what the hell is the intended technique, bother you guys with this and so forth.
2. Use of wrong descriptions
This falls in the same category as point 1, don't go making up things like enriching when you mean enhancing or forging. It's less of an issue compared to point 1, but it can cause a lot of confusion for me when I'm running through all these updates on times where I either should have been sleeping or just woke up. Try to use the correct terms so I don't have to take extra time contacting you or figuring out what you mean with this "new" term.
3. Patience is a virtue
If you made your update on wednesday and are angry you have to wait all the way to sunday or monday before approval, tough luck. The due date is monday, with the weekend being the time in which I start checking updates more thoroughly. I don't need people dropping dm's to ask me to and I quote "quickly check their update" I know some staffmembers hold other views than me on early updates, in which case I ask you to go to them if you really want to cheese out a quick sneak on someone who can't react, etc...
4. Color coding
Everyone likes a bit of color, that is never a problem. However, don't turn your updates into a kindergartner's masterpiece from fingerpainting plz. Use color to highlight specific things, work with some sort of legend in case that would help and try to learn from people who have consistently good and properly coded or colored formats [ex. Shell, Yan, Puar, etc]. A standard format IS available in the update section for you to use if you don't know what to do.
These are 4 small points I want people to keep in mind from now on. I happily do the bulk of the updates to make sure it all goes fast and smooth, but please do not make my work harder on me than it should be. Not to mention, don't forget that even bad examples can get copied by new players and this can lead up to even more confusion and frustration. So make it easy on all of us by doing updates properly.
