Nelgae VS Juch
Juch — Today at 5:50 PM
"You don't travel out much then?" Juch mirrored Nelgae with a small laugh of his own, although it was certainly less 'clicky' sounding, "Swamped with work?"
While Nier wasn't well traveled, it seemed like Nelgae certainly was. Indeed, while Nier's age was unknown to Juch, it was clear from the former champion's history that he would have been around for such an event as the galactic war, "Plenty more mercs during that time, that's for certain," the android nodded before holding his hand up, "I'm not that hungry, thank you. I'll be having a drink instead."
It wasn't necessary for the android to consume biological matter - but he certainly has the ability to extract fuel from it.
After the waiter took down their orders and moved away, Juch turned his attention back to the pair before him, "How's the PTO treating you two, by the by? I hear the employee benefits can be quite stellar depending on where you are on the hierarchy."
Rei — Today at 5:56 PM
"Swamped? I just work for my master," she replied with a cheerful smile. Nier was clearly not all that bothered by it. After all, it was she that came to Nelgae in order to work for him. It still perplexed him, she knew, but it was not something he asked her about or tried to nag the girl into telling him.
The bug nodded as he shurugged his shoulders a bit. "I do leave her with work, but just enough for a shift from the PTO. Much less than I get at times," he stated calmly. The bug waved his hand a bit, as he tilted his head at the waiter as he ordered.
When the man left, he looked towards Juch and chuckled, "I am still low in that hierarchy. But it lets me stay under the radar. So long as I do the tasks sent to me, I'm free to do what I wish after. My power also helps in that regard. Many of them see me as someone without ambition, if not that rumors of my power are just stupid. After all, most just see me as a freak Arlian." After all, he was a bug man that came from Arlia.
Juch — Today at 6:11 PM
Nier's affection for Nelgae was palpable, but her presence did also allow for less potential miscommunications between Nelgae and others. As for why she followed the Arlian, it was something of a mystery; but Juch was not one to poke his nose into others' business like that, so he simply gave her a small smile.
"I do understand the benefits of being underestimated," the android leaned back in his chair; even with all the races congregated in the PTO, it seems like Arlians do stand out in that negative way. But then again, the history of the PTO and Arlia was a brutal one, and such sentiments was probably spread through the ranks, "And that free time of yours did come in handy for delivering that package. If I do figure out anything from that, I'll give you an update for it."
"But I don't think we've discussed the specificities of compensation for your services - is there anything that you'd like?"
Rei — Today at 6:19 PM
The Klaxxi nodded his head to his first statement. It wasn't like he just took that kind of disrepect, he just didn't show that side in public. It would be foolish of him to do so. He wondered just what he should do about that later, but he supposed that the reveal of his true race should be for a better moment. Instead, the Klaxxi warrior tilted it's head at his last statement.
"Compensation for the package? Hmm... then I would ask that you look for large ambers that have an Arlian origin," he explained. He opened his palm as he had grabbed a rather pure amber and dropped the piece into his tankard. It fizzled a bit, before it turned the liquid into what looked like a far more refined and pure alcohol than what they had been served.
"They serve as boosters for not only my energy, but also as something from Arlia that should be reclaimed." It was a rather strange thing to come from him, most likely. While he rarely spoke about Arlia and the pride of Arlians to Juch, this was more about what the ambers did represent. He had claimed an evolution, but that didn't mean he was done with that. "Those are the best payments to me. Otherwise, just owe me a favor that I can chip in."
Juch — Today at 6:31 PM
Juch tilted his head in curiosity.
Nelgae held the piece up, revealing its rich, golden color. The amber gleamed in the ambient light, casting a warm, inviting glow. Its surface appeared smooth and polished, reflecting the surroundings like a miniature, luminescent sun. And then it melted within the beer, giving the brew a warmth that it didn't have before.
"Fascinating," the android murmured; his fingers moved his glasses a bit on his nose, as if that small action could allow him to observe it better.
It was an interesting energy source, "I would like to hear more about these Arlian Ambers. Are they only from Arlia, or have they spread throughout the galaxy a bit? If you wouldn't mind me having a small sample, I can do further research on where to find them."
Rei — Today at 6:47 PM
The Klaxxi first took a drink front the tankard before he produced a smaller amber, this one was about the size of the a ping pong ball and placed it on the table. "Pure Arlian amber only comes from Arlia. There are likely other ambers or whatever name that they would use, from other insectoid races." He couldn't reveal that the Nightbug race was likely in a state that he could use their amber.
"It's energy is unique to the physique of the race that it's meant for. I can always tell when it dissolves in a liquid. All liquids with Arlian Amber inside should become this hue, no matter the liquid. It will also have a unique taste to those from that planet. A pleasant taste from Arlian Amber, should taste like bad food to another insectoid." It was probably more than he wanted, but it should at least help him understand it to detect counterfeits. Not that Nelgae believed there should be that many.
He leaned back so that this wouldn't look too suspicious. Nier just smiled and happily trank from her tankard. It was actually kind of endeering how she had to hold it with two hands. Or rather, maybe just how she portrayed herself.
Juch — Today at 7:16 PM
Each specific amber could only be cultivated for each specific race? Interesting.
Juch leaned forward, his gloved fingers gently picking up the small piece of amber; tree resin, specific to Arlia, hm? To have the genuine article, it may be a little difficult. Amber is formed through a process that takes millions of years, involving the gradual hardening and fossilization of tree resin. This process requires specific geological conditions and immense time frames. The added difficulty to find the specific amber to Nelgae as well.
Well, if it was so easy, then there was no need for Nelgae to request such a thing.
"I'll see what I can do," Juch looked back up to Nelgae with a smile, his hand still holding onto the small piece of amber, "May I take this back to the lab? I may be able to figure out the fundamental properties of this even further."
Rei — Today at 7:26 PM
Nelgae clicked a bit, but it wasn't a nervous sound. In all honesty, it was probably the drink as he watched Juch. He nodded to the smile from the android as he answered the question that followed, "Yes, you may." It was actually a bit strange for him to trust amber to another, but he had given small ones to Nier and Juch. One as payment, since it was the only thing he had at the time to pay her with, and now Juch to look for bigger ones.
He then tilted his head and moved his anatine a bit before he added, "Bigger amber can be harder to find because I believe most would break them down. Use them in different products. You may have an easier time finding them in PTO controlled origins. Or ones that originated from that area. Prizes from arena fights, for example."
He thought that this should help. The bug nodded before he placed a claw to his mandibles. He hoped that these would help. "Or perhaps you could synthesizes a similiar substance. Whichever you find easier." This was another offer to the researcher. If he could substitute amber into his deit, he would require less meat to eat. Though he did like meat, especially from spieces that he hadn't eaten yet, it was quite an irritation in this day and age
