Anyone here read, like really read? I was in that period of your life where you stop reading for ages and now I'm back to where I've picked it up again. I started with this series by an indie author called Elizabeth Helen - it was called Bonded by Thorns, and totally pulled me out of my slump. Then, I moved onto A Court of Thorns & Roses, and after I got mostly done with that series, I went out and bought like 20 books. My Goodreads TBR (to be read) list has like 120 books on it.
So, my question is, what's your favorite genre/favorite book or series?
I'm obviously biased to Fantasy Romance & Romance in general, but I'm curious to see if anyone else might share my interests <3
Hope you're all having a great weekend, Em/Ember

Wheel of Time is my favorite fantasy series. I also really like the Mistborn series though. Currently reading The Lost Metal. Stephen King's The Dark Tower also holds a fond place in my heart.

I can't say I've read any of them I wanna say my biggest fantasy series I've read that doesn't really have a bunch of romance in it would probably be Harry Potter but even that has a lil romance here and there but it's more coming of age

I have the first WoT that I still need to start reading... I've been reading Sanderson too, just caught up on Stormlight Archive and now I'm re-reading Mistborn (currently Era 1) in preparation for Lost Metal when it is released in paperback.

It's been awhile since I read a physical book, but I have found audiobooks to be a great way to get back into reading because I drive a lot. Over the last couple of years I've listened to everything by DJ McHale again, some of the Redwall series, the whole Expanse series + novellas (so god damn good. got me into more sci-fi than I had read before). Primarily I like fantasy/sci-fi, however I have begun to branch into some other stuff like Americana (The Lincoln Highway was a recent listen of mine).
Currently I am listening to a Michael Crichton book (author of Jurassic Park and Sphere) called Andromeda Evolution. His style isn't high on prose, but he tells really engaging stories. I intend to listen to Dune next.

Top of My List Always: His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman The Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix So many novels by Neil Gaiman (American Gods, Neverwhere, Good Omens, Stardust)
I’ve been picking up some odd stuff lately including the Bridgerton books, The Surgeon’s Daughter, Girl At War, and A Very Typical Family.
If anyone has any recommendations I can find on Libby I will take them. And if you don’t have Libby you should get Libby. Its a mobile freaking library that links to your library card and lets you take out ebooks and audiobooks out on your phone/kindle whatever. Its got an exceptionally large selection of audiobooks.

+1 for Libby. It is awesome dude. American Gods is also an excellent book, but I haven't read any of Gaiman's other stuff except the Sandman audiobooks. They are good too but... fuck they are a lot to ingest tbh.

PLEASE read A Court of Thorns & Roses - Or listen to the dramatized adaptation. It's so worth the time and energy. I also recommend Hoopla for the same thing <3

If people can't tell, my favorite paper/hard backs are high fantasy novels. My favorite is the series Malaz Book of the Fallen. There was another one that I read, but I'd have to find them again, it wasn't a bad trilogy.
It's been a while since I've read from a physical book, but part of that may be because I play a lot of games if I'm not writing.

Back in 2012 i would play/watch Ace Attorney games to get extra inspiration for my characters and stories. It's way shorter than a book but it did the job, and despite its' being a game the story-writing is very, very good. The characters' emotions are also very well-expressed by their animations. I used to LOVE Harry Potter, but I haven't touched that stuff in like 15 years.

Yah I guess I could afford to do that too, but I don't prefer that kind of thing. I'd rather read a book than listen to an audiobook, but i'd also rather not do either. I'm kind of lazy, I guess.

Mhm, Brandon Sanderson is great. I'd recommend his mistborn series (young adult) or even the stormlight ones, but his stormlight is more for adult in the context of intrigue and serious matters. Fantasy is his niche and man does he rock it. He's a good author too and his are pretty good, I remember reading them in high-school. Personally, I'd like to recommend Name of the Wind and Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss cause it's great fantasy material... But lately the author has been one hell of a d-bag and I hate to encourage people to read his work when he doesn't deliver on his promises and openly screws his patrons over.

Currently reading the Expanse, on book 7. Historically a fan of any fantasy and have been thinking I need to revisit some good ol' ASOIAF. I also have a trilogy I've been meaning to get to called the Three Body Problem, by Cixin Liu. These days I haven't been giving myself time to read for fun, but I listen to a lot of D&D podcasts which I think built me up to want to start RPing again lol. Shoutout to Worlds Beyond Number if people are interested in hearing some amazing roleplayers on liveplays.
