For the second time in recent memory, Gohan found his home planet built for him in the Astral Plane. The ground was covered in a white powder so pure and flat that it looked like the world hadn't rendered yet; only a ring of stones peeking out from beneath their blanket gave away the snowfall for what it was. A crisp blue sky looked down from above as moisture clung to the boy's eyes and lips, nucleating and crystalizing on any surface it could get ahold of. He shivered in the chilly weather, wondering why such an inhospitable arena had appeared without his direction. He got to have a lab coat when he made his mental research space, so why couldn't he have a normal coat when the world built itself into a frigid landscape?
With chattering teeth, Gohan began rifling through the snow. He hated to disturb the perfection, but was desperate for something to build a fire with. His fingers turned bluer with each stick he dug up, placing them in a loose pile in the center of the rocky circle. When there were a dozen or so prepared, the boy coughed up a small flame. The Astral Plane was intelligent enough to obey physics, so the wetness of the makeshift tinder had to evaporate off before any fire grew to keep him warm.
Sighing miserably, he squatted in the snow and stretched out his hands even without anything to warm them on. This may be the first time I've wished someone would hurry up and get here, his inner monologue whined. At least if someone were beating me up, I'd get my blood flowing.

Kale had been given her housing at Capsule Corp curtesy of the gracious CEO. Bulma's kindness was an unexpected turn of events. She had been use to growing up in the rougher parts of Sadala so she didn't go into things expecting the people she ran into to be nice. How her sister felt about them tended to be the Saiyan's main frame of reference when she appraised character but judging Bulma on her own discernment she would say that she was a kind woman since she called for a stop to the hostility she had been met with not to mention Bulma offered her a home after she had crashed through the building.
She didn't bring much with her in the Space pod so it didn't take long to put her things away to get situated in the already furnished and immaculate room. The woman still had yet to understand what sort of mission Bulma was recruiting people for. The girl knew she would have to ask if she was going to give any sort of contribution to the effort though she didn't like asking questions to people she hardly knew. At least now in the comfort of her room and Bulma having yet to beckon to speak business Kale decided to pass the time with a trip to the Astral Realm.
Kale sometimes wondered why she kept using the gem to come to that immaterial plain where she was always being met with strangers but whenever she decided to skip out she would remember her sister stressing use of the gem as part of the regimen. A way to continue training while also allowing the body to having a period of respite. Kale emerged into the astral realm and immediately felt the cold. She hugged herself and rubbed her arms as her eyes scanned the area. "Where am I? Planet Frigid?" Kale said to herself. She saw a fire in the distance. The sight elated her but then she saw something near the fire, a person. She continued standing arms still wrapped around her body as she was musing on her second guess. After a few moments Kale took a steaming breath and began making her way to the fire pit.
She made to the fire and upon closer inspection the vague shape of a person revealed itself to be a young boy. He looked like Saiyan. She was meeting more Saiyans than anything whenever she arrived to the astral realm, but at least that was something of familiarity. "H-Hello," Kale sheepishly greeted. "May I stand by the fire with you?"

The boy nearly jumped as a voice called out, bringing him back to the miserable cold. He looked around reflexively, as if to ask who the meek voice was talking to, but there was only one answer. She was hugging herself tightly and shivered at least as much as Gohan - it seemed that the Astral Realm was holding nothing back.
"It's not very warm, but sure," he replied with defeat. In the time it had taken for the stranger to appear and approach, Gohan had gone from extremities turning purple to full body shaking, which wasn't much of an improvement but it was still something. For the newcomer, however, it would be far less substantial.
"I'm Gohan," he introduced himself through chattering teeth. "I'm not usually one to suggest it, but would you like to spar a bit? I don't think things will get any warmer here so we may as well move around." His lungs burned as he spoke, shards of ice blossoming throughout his airways as humidity met the unforgiving air. Whether or not the stranger would agree to Gohan's proposal, the boy stood up from his squat. He breathed in deeply through his nose and winced, but allowed his ki to begin to circulate preemptively. Deep brown eyes twinkled with a speck of blue and his jet black hair began to glisten, as if in the preliminary stages of the Super Saiyan form. Gohan's transformation was normally efficient enough to barely use his energy, but given the cold, he figured it was best to be intentionally inefficient.

Kale was relieved that the boy had accepted her request to stand by the fire with him. "It's better than nothing," Kale said as she held her hand toward the fire. Her fingers were starting to get numb already. There was some relief from the fire and she was starting to feel better, even though it was slowly. She looked over to the boy. He didn't seem to be doing much better than she was in terms of enduring the cold.
The boy introduced himself saying his name was Gohan, it was an interesting name. It wasn't one that she recalled hearing before. "I'm Kale," she said returning the introduction. Then the boy took her by surprise with a proposal to spar. "You want to spar here?" Kale asked. She hardly wanted to be standing in the middle of this frigid air though Gohan had made a good point about it being unlikely they'd get much warmer as it were. Moving around could help, plus it wouldn't be the worse thing to get some practice.
"Oh ok." Kale said. She took a couple steps back and lowered into a slight crouch, lowering her stance. "Um do you want to go first or do you want me to?"

Gohan nodded in acknowledgement as Kale introduced herself. She was apparently just as cold enough as he was, and seemed to agree that a spar or at least some exercise would help them both stay warm. The boy observed her fall into a practiced stance and wondered where her martial arts came from. She seemed content to start on the defensive, which put Gohan in the curious position of actually being aggressive.
"Allow me," he replied, continuing to circulate ki and build up warmth. He traced an arcing path through the snow as he surveyed Kale's guard and posture, before concluding that the best way to understand her defense would be to test it directly. He outstretched one hand and fired four small balls of ki in quick succession, two nosediving into the snow around Kale to create a smokescreen while the other two would tear through the space she had occupied.
With a fluid step-in, Gohan closed the distance to Kale's last position. His left arm shot forward in successive jabs, testing both Kale's guard and her reaction with limited senses. His muscles were tight from the cold, causing him to wince as he tucked back into a guard. He didn't know what kind of reprisal to expect, but the boy's versatile stance would hopefully allow him to respond to whatever came his way.
