Nelgae: VR Octagon, Combat Rune
Nelgae was nonchalant about his time in the mental arena. It was a space that he knew well, and that he was intamately familiar with. He still changed it to suit his own needs, as he modified it to stay what would have been a pocket in an ant nest. It was just more comfortable to see if his opponents would be uncomfortable. The ant creatures, the Klaxxi in their prime, as they crawled in and out through the sand-brown stage and arena. The buzz of the wings of the flyer ants. The one big box where the Queen should be, absent of a ruler, filled with the current Arlian rulers.
That was nothing to say for the usual shock value of the giant ant man himself. Nelgae stood, awaiting. It didn't have to be a fight, but that was his usual. His pride as a Queen's Guard.

Riki had never been in an ant nest before, though rather than be uncomfortable she looked more curious with a small bit of amazement. She knew this was the astral realm so it was very possible this place was simply the figment of someone’s imagination but it was so expertly crafted and detailed. It was either a real place or the Astral Realm had paired her with a genius!
A different kind of person would see Nelgae as their partner and immediately jump to the former idea: this place was a replica of a free place the Klaxxi warrior knew. Riki on the other hand leaned to the latter. On Earth, when bugs and sharks and whatever were made sentient, they were usually given super intelligence, so she figured Nelgae could definitely be a super genius.
“Hi,” she said cheerfully. “I like your…house? Lair? Domain? It’s really cool!”

It was a human, and there was something very different about her. There was no creep factor in her, and he didn't sense any fear in her. It was unusual for beings that usually freaked out, especially ones that should have seemed younger. He wasn't exactly sure, but by his best guess, she couldn't be over twenty human years. The ancient creature tilted its head in confusion, before he placed a hand to his mandibles, since those were where his chin would be, if he were human.
When the girl spoke, it sounded like something a hyperactive teenager would ask. The bug's crimson eyes flashed curiously, did she know where she was? Still, he thought it'd be interesting if he answered her question. "This is a modified Arena from Arlia," he answered in his deep, gravely tone. "It's a structure under the Arena here. You could call it a lair or a domain." It was pretty accurate to how the old queen's nest was, after all.
Was a house or a liar all that different? For those that held evil enough intentions, they could be one in the same. He guessed that they could be different if that villain got away time and again, waved their hand menacingly at the "hero" to shout 'I'll be back again!' before they ran off into the sunset. "Do you have a name?" He was interested, as he added, maybe before she answered, "I am Nelgae, former Arlian Arena Champion."

“Oh neat! I’ve never been to Arlia. It’s on my list to travel to,” she explained, looking around again. “If I went could I find a place like this or do only you have one? Would I have to win first?” she asked. She was very curious over the whole matter.
Asked her named however she immediately turned her attention back to the bug. “I’m Riki! You were a champion?”

"This place no longer exists," he explained calmly. "The Planet Trade Organization destroyed it when they took Arlia." Half true, half lie. "It's the Arena I'd wanted to rebuild."
Riki. A name he'd like to remember. "Yes, I was the Arlian Champion for many years. I'm retired from the ring now," as he alluded to earlier.
"Do you fight?" He wondered if she was a warrior. It was always good to fight new opponents and learn new things. He was aware that he wasn't the most powerful bring in the galaxy.

“Aw, that sucks,” she answered with a frown. “Yan says the PTO isn’t all bad, but every time I hear anything about the PTO its bad. They’ve gotta be a whole mess of bad guys!”
Her head tilted at his answer though. He seemed quite fit still. Maybe? How were fit ants supposed to look? “Why’d you retire?” she asked.
“I fight a little. I’m trying to be a hero!”
Rei — Yesterday at 1:24 PM
"Every organization has its heroes and its villains. Outside perception is that to an outsider. Morality... well, in not here to lecture." Besides, there were plenty of examples across the galaxy.
"I amassed enough wealth to travel the galaxy. You can only make the crowd cheer so long before it all becomes background noise." And that wasn't wrong. He'd return every century or so, take on a new persona, but it was the and every time. An endless cycle. Boredom.
"A hero? Commendable." Perhaps if he stayed in Arlia, he could have been their hero. But he'd be jaded too long, and too long ago. "Perhaps you could show me something?" This was an arena, after all.

“Oh, that makes sense,” she said to his explanation nodding in agreement. “If you’re rich, why spend your time entertaining people when you could be traveling and eating good food and having other types of fun!”
Since this was a copy though, she wondered if he didn’t miss it, or miss something attached to it.
“Okay! It’s the astral realm so you can’t get hurt right?” It was a bold declaration, and yet she said it completely innocently, as if her entire life placed her stronger than any opponent she had faced thus far. The reality was more complicated, as it often is, but in a serious fight against someone as strong as her, they both always got hurt. She just didn’t mind for herself as much.
