After a relatively casual day training the Blackhearts, Upa planned to get home early to take care of a couple things. Trivial daily life, really. Groceries for the house he never really finds the time to be at besides sleeping, or some proper care towards his treasured attire. Things not to be concerned with, truly; especially for an unmodern man. Though call it a whim, that the boy decided to change his course from North City to Diablo Desert. There was no particularly attractive location to that desert: he'd already had his run with the few bandits that live there, and was familiar enough with the similar wildlife from his own home in the Sacred Land to truly take an interest in the fauna. So then, call it a weird twist of fate. Any location would do; and in the darkening hours of the day, while the ground and the sand were still hot to the bare foot but the air around began to very slowly cool off, Upa's descent occurred atop a particular stone structure, very possibly left over from times past. There may have been one or two bandits driving their machinery around for kicks; though with how much higher than them he sat, there was no detecting him without proper Ki sensing. It might have been a suboptimal spot, but the boy had decided to sit down and, for once, actually meditate. Bringing most of his attention to his breath; in, then out. His body taking in the energy around him (or the heat, whichever you'd want to call it). Only aware of the surroundings thanks to polished spacial sense, years of hunting alluding to such on top of the ability to track energy signals. In, then out. Slowly, calmly. WC: 293

The world twisted around Bra as she was flung out of the portal, its chaotic blue tinged energy giving way to a sudden drop into open air. She had only a moment to register her surroundings—desert sand far below, the sky rapidly darkening overhead—but instinct took over. Her body twisted in mid-air, and she adjusted her position, shifting her weight with a practiced ease. As she fell, she focused her energy, allowing it to flow through her limbs, and landed with a light, controlled crouch on the hot sand.
The impact sent a small cloud of dust up around her as she absorbed the shock with her legs. She stood up slowly, brushing some stray sand from her arms and shaking the rest from her lavender hair. She took a moment to compose herself, smoothing down her clothes and swiping the back of her hand across her mouth to clear the dry taste of the desert. Her breaths came a bit fast, but she wasn’t rattled; the first few times she had experienced this had completely thrown her but each time she grew more accustomed to the experience.
"Where am I this time?" she muttered to herself, as she scanned her surroundings. All she could see in practically every direction was desert, bathed in a dim, reddish-orange light. While she seemed to be able to cause these teleportation’s more reliably than before, she still had no discernible control over where she would end up.
Before she could process where she was any further, a familiar figure caught her eye. Upa, poised atop a nearby stone structure. So she was back on Earth then? Or was this just some trick making her think she was seeing someone familar?
“Upa?!” she called out, waving her arms excitedly just as there was a loud bang from above her. She glanced up just in time to see the portal flare with a blinding light, large arcs of blue-white lightning streaking out of it as it seemed to implode in on itself. Another loud bang followed, along with a shockwave rippling across the desert, kicking up a fierce gust of wind and sand before it disappeared as quickly as it had appeared.

Now, Upa was an accomplished hunter; used to sensing all lifeforms and objects around himself, with pure spacial awareness. Such skill was required, if he was going to grow up mastering the ways of his fellow tribesmen's life. With that fact in mind, it almost came like second nature to the boy -- capable of remaining calm and still despite any possible interferences or 'surprise' entries to his vicinity; in this instance, mostly in the form of more desert-dwellers. Worms, coyotes, bandits. You name it. Nothing would break his focus, simply because he was so used to perceiving and acknowledging their closing presence.
People materializing out of mid-air though?
No way he could perceive that properly.
Upa's focus was lost the moment a certain power spiked into his senses, sending shivers down his spine and snapping the has-been-savage awake. Just as the figure came down, softening her landing. He'd actually recognized this one, and a sense of elation -- tinged with light disturbance -- took over. "Bra!! It's you!?"
-- He failed to properly account for (or consider for that matter) whatever weird portal phenomenon was happening overhead; and in the following shockwave, the boy found himself startled, flailing some (in vain) just enough to lose balance and fall off the rock structure. Quite the spectacle, but short-lived as he made an ultimately safe, unspectacular landing on both his feet. Fortunately, he could fly too.
"You..." He started, looking at the girl. Practically sizing her up, finishing by locking eyes with her. Despite the apparent caution and shock, his features couldn't deny being happy to see a familiar face. A friend, even, "You've, changed. I almost didn't recognize you," He credited;
"Your spirit feels much more prominent." Count on a familiar face and a sense of safety to get this kid talking rapidly, for once.

Bra's eyes widened as she saw Upa's startled reaction to the chaotic aftermath of the portal's explosion. He lost his balance on the stone structure and stumbled, though he managed a controlled landing on his feet, his ability to fly keeping him steady. Despite the initial chaos, his relief and recognition were clear as he called out to her. “It is you!” she exclaimed, a grin spreading across her face. She could feel her own excitement bubbling up as she saw him, her sense of relief mixing with the adrenaline still coursing through her veins. “I didn’t expect to see you here!”She watched as Upa looked her up and down, his expression shifting from surprise to something more akin to joy. His words, though tinged with caution, carried a warmth that made her feel instantly at ease.
“Sorry about that," Bra said with an apologetic smile. "The whole portal thing is still a mystery to me. One day I’m fighting this monster, and the next—boom!—I’m on a completely different planet.” She gestured animatedly with her hands, emphasising the suddenness of it all.
"It’s good to see you again." She took a step closer, her energy still humming from the portal’s residual force, and held up her hands in a casual gesture. “It’s a long story, but I’ve been working on expanding my abilities. I guess it’s showing, huh?” Bra glanced around the desert, then back at Upa. “What about you? How have things been? It feels like it's been forever.”

Attitude attracts. While he may or may not have been fully intending on consciously being positive, the girl's company brought that out of him. It's been a long, long time; a fact mostly evident in the incredible Ki he felt radiating from her, even though he himself got stronger as well - but it looks like the dynamic stayed the same. For what it's worth, she was a friend he cherished, something rare in his personal circle. It's understandable why, as such, he kept a lighter tone (if not outright excited) in her presence.
"Portal?" So that weird surge was her fault after all. Yeah, seems about right. There was nobody else that could do that, a conclusion reached despite experiencing some wacky things these past few months. He couldn't help but chuckle. "It really has been a long time, huh."
He was certain he could get her to tell her story. While admittedly ashamed of his own fall to stagnancy, his recent ventures at least amounted to something. By the girl's confirmation of her broadening her horizons, a thought came to mind. Upa was always better at learning things firsthand, rather than by traditionally listening.
"I've been, kept a little bit busy," He rather sheepishly admitted, a chuckle following. Some things paid off, others... Didn't, really. "Expanding your abilities, huh..."
...Much like the first time around, "Just how much did you go to expand your abilities then?" he'd want to experience that for himself. A challenge, only hinted as not even a stance was assumed -- though his very posture tensed in preparation, in case the other party caught on and, possibly, replied accordingly.

Bra couldn’t help but smile at Upa’s reaction. His positive energy was contagious. It was clear that, despite the time that had passed, their friendship hadn’t changed—if anything, it felt stronger. “Yeah, the portal was all me,” she admitted with a shrug. “Still trying to figure out how to control it, but it’s definitely made life… interesting.” When Upa mentioned being kept busy, she could hear the mix of pride and humility in his voice. It made her curious, but before she could ask more, his focus shifted to her progress. “Expanding my abilities? Oh, you have no idea,” she said with a grin, catching the hint of challenge in his tone. She noticed the way his posture tensed slightly, as if ready for whatever might come next. It was so like him to want to see for himself rather than just take her word for it. “Why don’t I show you?” Her eyes sparkled with a playful challenge as she began to channel her energy, letting it flow through her, not as an attack but as a demonstration of the power she’d gained. “So, what do you say? Want to see just how much we’ve both grown?”She didn’t need to assume a fighting stance to make her intentions clear. The air between them was charged with the unspoken agreement—this was a friendly test of their abilities. "You first." she said, bouncing on her toes a little in preparation. She would give him the first strike.

Upa was one to definitely count his blessings. Such only bolstered by the positive air brought about by meeting with an old friend, he was in general the type to look into what he has going for him and capitalize on those traits or options. Practice over word, and most definitely over worry; a degree of recklessness that in the wrong situation, would prove to be his undoing -- but seldom troubling. He was smart enough (thankfully) to know his standing. "Alright then." The boy grinned, shifting his weight to the back foot instinctively upon Bra's display of power. "Then I will take you up on that."
His current blessing was the fact he was allowed the first shot. Much like with Paukena, Upa was outclassed in this fight. Shamefully admitting to himself of the gap in power having increased by a large margin, enough that he paled in comparison - if the brief moment of power she allowed to slip was anything to go by. It was, almost like that freaky doctor who threatened him back then. So then, his friend reached the plane of the Greater Powers. Those he couldn't hope to reach.
Except, she was living proof. Living proof that he too, could, get there. And if there was a chance to figure out what's in store, it was now.
Springing forward, Upa started the very same way their last spar had begun: a direct, straight-forward approach. Propelling himself forward with a headbutt, aimed at her center of mass in order to knock the girl away, before even beginning to formulate a plan. If he didn't get close and personal, there was no way he'd get a good gauge on her! Though, unlike last time, the upgrade to the boy's strike appeared in the form of his Aura flaring, boosting the speed of his leap with his Ki.

Bra's eyes lit up with excitement as Upa accepted her challenge, a grin spreading across her face. “Alright, let’s see what you’ve got!” she called out. As Upa sprang forward, Bra instinctively braced herself, her senses fully tuned into his movements. She recognized the familiar headbutt from their meetings, but this time there was something different—his aura flared, amplifying his speed and force in a way that caught her by surprise. He was faster, more focused, and the intensity of his attack showed just how far he’d come. But Bra wasn’t the same fighter she used to be either. Drawing on the energy she’d been honing, she sidestepped Upa’s headbutt with a fluid motion, her body moving almost on its own. The power behind his strike was impressive, and she could feel the air rush past her as he flew by.
“Not bad!” she exclaimed, genuinely impressed. Without giving him a chance to regroup, she decided to show him a glimpse of some of her new abilities. She leaped back a few paces, creating some distance between them, and quickly brought her hands up in a practiced sequence, her fingers tracing familiar patterns in the air. A focused expression settled on her face as her energy spiked, condensing rapidly between her hands. In a matter of seconds, a brilliant, glowing orb of energy formed, pulsing with raw power. Bra thrust her hands forward. The orb shot out, transforming into a spiralling ball of fiery energy aimed just ahead of Upa, aimed to force him to react and show him the kind of power she’d developed. The intense heat of the attack radiated through the air, kicking up sand and creating a blinding light as it barrelled toward its target. She watched closely, her heart pounding with the thrill of the fight. This was more than just a demonstration; it was a way to push Upa, to see how he would handle the challenge and, hopefully, inspire him to reach even greater heights.

The initial strike of every fight was mostly meant to gauge the opponent. In this case, initial gauging had already been completed, courtesy of their first bout and, the advent of the portal (followed by the massive spike of energy he felt). Despite that, both had risen to new heights, and it was fully in the boy's interest to see how far he's progressed, in direct comparison to one who'd clearly surpassed him.
Somehow, the thought of having been outdone made him feel, jealous.
The headbutt missed its mark. The girl gracefully dodged, sidestepping as she saw the attack coming. A different result from last time, when he'd hit her straight in. It may have been that on the last try, she allowed herself to get hit, and as part of the experience accumulated decided it best not to take the attack head-on. Though the first shot in the fight already alluded to the difference between them.
Allowed a short time to regroup from his miss, Upa turned around to observe as Bra shot forward an awfully large, yellow orb of energy; speeding at him at top speed.
This was, surely, a test. By now, Upa has met with three big-scale techniques of the like, none of which he could hope to replicate. However, on every occasion he at the very least managed to usher out a response - even though he was clearly weaker than the opposition. On this try, he rushed towards the blast, and readied every muscle in his body to meet with it--
He elected to ignore how heavy the blast felt. He could barely hope to deflect it from his path, mostly lifting himself than pushing the attack down.
"Yah!!!" A jackhammer fist landed straight into the blast's top, using the leverage of the hit and the following explosion into the sand to propel himself upwards; flipping numerous times in the air as his trajectory only slightly changed, aiming straight for Bra as he readied his left leg through his blitzing flips.
Once in proper, perceived vicinity, Upa undid his balled form as a leg came down at as much speed and power as the boy could muster in his body, attempting to swipe down at the girl's middle section. This was a move he's worked on tirelessly with the Senbyou, capitalizing on the sudden, sharp movements of his rabid style of fighting: sudden, quick outbursts, symbolized in a single kick.

Bra’s eyes narrowed as she watched Upa charge straight into the Burning Attack, her respect growing by the second. The energy blast was powerful—meant to overwhelm most opponents—but Upa didn’t shy away. Instead, he met it head-on.
Upa wasn’t backing down, and she loved that about him. He might have been outmatched in raw power, but his sheer willpower and cleverness were something she’d always admired. As the explosion sent him flipping through the air, she prepared herself for his counterattack, knowing he wouldn’t let this opportunity pass by.
“Nice one, Upa!” she called out, genuine enthusiasm in her voice.
As he closed the distance, Bra saw his leg whip down toward her, fast and precise. She recognised the move—sharp, sudden, and loaded with intent. Upa was putting everything he had into this strike, and she could feel the force behind it even before it made contact.
Instead of dodging, Bra decided to meet his attack directly. She brought her forearms up, crossing them in front of her as she braced for the impact. The kick connected with a resounding crack, the force of it reverberating through her arms and into the sand beneath her feet. The ground shifted slightly, but she held her stance, absorbing the worst of the blow.
“You’ve really been training hard, haven’t you?” she said, her voice steady despite the force of the kick. With a quick movement, she pushed back against his leg, using the momentum to spin out of the lock and create some distance between them.
“But let’s see how you handle this!” Bra’s energy flared once more as she dropped into a lower stance. Time seemed to slow as she centred her energy deep within her core, her body shimmering for a brief moment before she vanished from sight.
The world around her froze as she activated her technique. In this suspended moment, Bra moved with the speed of thought, slipping through the fabric of time itself. Upa’s figure was motionless, his eyes wide, completely unaware of what was about to unfold. Bra reappeared directly in front of him, her fists already in motion.
When time resumed, her fists became a blur, striking at Upa with lightning speed. Each punch was aimed with precision, though she held back her full strength so as not to strike him too hard. Twenty-seven strikes in rapid succession, each one meant to break through his defences and leave him reeling.
The final punch sent a shockwave through the air as Bra finished the combination, stepping back with a smirk as the full impact of her assault came at Upa all at once.

Block.
He packed all his power and speed into that swipe, assuming that if it would have been stopped, he'd at least get some momentum in the force behind it. He'd practiced that one several times, and yet -- Bra simply stood still, her arms raising to protect her form. She stopped it clean, not even moving from her spot, despite the force of the attack apparent as the weight behind it pushed her to apply sufficient force to stand still; visible in the form of a large dust cloud risen from the impact.
His smile didn't come this time around; more in complete shock than the anticipation of the fight, he was quick to reply with matching force as the girl swiped both her arms open, gaining distance - the boy flipping once through the air as he planted his feet firmly into the ground. "Nice, huh." He repeated, almost disappointed. But that's when the corner of his lip curled up in a smirk, a drop of sweat rolling down the side of his head. "I have. But you've clearly been training harder, haven't you!" He taunted, spreading his stance further as he prepared for the clearly incoming attack.
-- And then, there she was. "--" He barely managed to grasp what had happened.
Not only did Bra's arms move so fast it appeared as if there were eight of them, but each one came rushing in incredibly quick succession-- the likes of which the native had no way of countering. He couldn't even see her move to his vicinity; he was certain that even if she was factually faster, this much of a difference was just impossible.
He barely even had the time for his eyes to widen, perceiving the incoming strikes far too late. Only two of the first flurry of fists blocked as his form got pummeled further, momentarily knocking him out in the nigh-non-existent space between the strikes -- so much so that when he pulled his guard up, instinctively at that point, it was already futile.
His form was thrown from the power of the impact, forcing him to skid across the desert ground; every corner of his torso, head, arms, hurting all over. He was downed on the ground, just like that, from receiving these lightning-fast twenty strikes head-on.
At least he managed to block seven of them.
His breath had been robbed from him, and only returned as his body convulsed in pain; the boy barely picking himself up, his eyes locked on the girl's form. "What..." -- He could barely speak, his voice weak before a cough aided in returning to proper volume. "What was that!?"
He couldn't possibly match her if there was this much of a difference in skill. His fastest and strongest attack had been stopped clean, but she had no issue connecting her own. Upa stayed down on the ground, possibly stalling for time to recover from the numerous hits - light as they were intended to be.
