Character you wish to be:
Elric
Elric
History: Elric is the Avatar of Shamshire, his people's god of time and passing. This position has him looked upon as some sort of Grim Reaper figure. Tragedy, disaster, untimely demise. These are all things that his people blame him for. He is not exalted like most Avatars, instead he is cursed. There are good gods, there are neutral gods, but in the eyes of the people of Zaun, there is really only one bad god, and his name is Shamshire.
The life of an Avatar is normally tumultuous, but perhaps Elric's has been exceedingly so. He is a special case, after all. Elric discovered that he wasn't like the other Avatars, and that he in fact was Shamshire's son. Elric has held numerous names, he's fallen victim to numerous murder plots, he's been the victim of tragedy, and he's been brought back every single time. Shamshire refuses to let his son die. In a way, that makes Elric a hypocrite. His role in the world is to protect the sanctity of life, ensuring that things take their natural course. His enemies are people who steal life away from others by killing them, as well as people who prolong their own natural lives. To learn that he was an exception caused a great divide between the pair, a rift that was not easily repaired.
Elric's acceptance of his duty, as well as the hypocritical nature of his existence, has repaired things back to a new normal. Elric's power now is greater than it has ever been, and Shamshire is sure that he's done the right thing by telling Elric the truth, as well as allowing him access to the memories of his past life. Elric has meditated at length, searching for wisdom in these past incarnations of himself, seeking solutions to his own inner turmoil.
The abundance of genocidal maniacs has seemed to decrease in the wake of Elric and his allies efforts. However Shamshire has pointed him in the direction of a potentially new threat, those who toy with Time. In investigating these instances, Elric has somehow managed to slip into a different timeline, one where things have happened differently, and he finds himself worried that perhaps the allies he'd gained over the years may be lost, and he may have to find new ones to help him fight against this new threat.

The rift was small and unstable. Elric should have known better than to try to cross through without probing but his haste to solve the issue clouded his judgement. He recognized the landscape, he was back on Earth. It'd been a few years but he could feel the familiar pressure of its atmosphere, and the smell was unforgettable. It smelt clean, fresh. This was a newer world after all, there weren't eons of history, million year old ruins and the likes.
"I don't think we're on Kanassa anymore." Elric quipped, regaining his footing.
"No, it seems you've stumbled your way into another mess." Shamshire groaned. Elric scanned the scene before him. Nothing looked that familiar, so he wasn't sure where he was. His feet left the ground once more as he took flight, lazily floating to a higher vantage point. Looking around he could tell that perhaps things were a bit different here. This was Earth, yes, but it seemed even younger than he remembered.
"Shamshire, do you get the same feeling I get here?" Elric asked, his arms folded over each other. "It would appear that the rift has taken me to a much younger Earth. Around the time of my last rebirth, yes?" Elric cooed. It'd been decades since then, could he really be in the past? Was it his past, or the past of another timeline, one where he won't know how things should be.
"I suppose it does feel younger." Shamshire said with a deep breath, "But that's impossible. You'd become a time lost anomaly yourself, you'd be burning up right now. That is unless of course-"
"This was fated." Elric said cutting him off. The concept was pretty new to him. Time lost beings, bodies, entities, whatever you wish to call them. Not all of them are unnatural. Nature is weird, unpredictable. Some things just leak out, eclipsing all logic. Fate has a much stronger role in the balance of the universe than most give credit for, and Elric has determined that Fate is the difference between someone traveling between timelines, or to a different point in a timeline, is fate.
This was strange, perverse. Elric never though he'd be stepping into the shoes of one of the people he'd had to put down over the last couple of years. He just hoped that if this timeline had a protector like him, they would be understanding of his situation.
