Lilim: Combat Rune
Azazel: Champion I, Combat Rune, VR Octagon

Lilim took a deep breath, tilting her head a little in thought before giving him a reassuring smile. "Conflict has always been the way of Hell. Heaven epitomizes peace and tranquility, whereas Hell has always been passion and strife. Honestly, I am only angry for what I lost, not necessarily for the conflict itself. The way you weaved war and conflict back then... to Mortals and Angels, it was savagery. For demons... it was an art. Something to be embraced and replicated, not something to be ashamed of. Eventually, someone would have wanted the whole thing... and in a way, your brother still strives to have everything in his grip. Hell rebels even now, just in smaller ways and smaller pockets. My qualm was never with you--my qualm is with the singular one that turned Hell from a place of experience and freedom into a prison--Lucifer is the only one that angers me."

His brother has that effect.... he was a son of a bitch at his best.... at his worst...
“All deftly handled by him I’m sure...”
Azazel stood, his chair sliding back as he made his way towards the fire place. His eyes delving into the crackling embers. His brother always found a way... to get what he wanted in the end, even if he appeared to lose at first... he could not afford any miscalculations.
Placing a hand inside the flames they shimmered, ice gripping the embers as the flames themselves turned to ice, shattering into a fine dusting of snow.
“Good to know.”

Lilim slowly rose to her feet when he did, but she watched him walk towards the fireplace for a moment before she walked after him, stopping right beside him as he looked into the flames. "Are you disappointed? Confused? Please, speak your mind."

“Confused? Disappointed?... no... When you have been around as long as I have... you become detached... when you have experienced the things I have... the betrayal, the theft... the loss of purpose... you become as cold as ice.”
Snapping his fingers the flames turned to ice and snow rekindled as he leaned his head back and stared at the ceiling.
“I hope you are ready for what is to come Lilim, because nothing we have seen will have prepared us for any of it.”

Lilim was silent for a long moment as she watched the flames turn to ice, and when Azazel leaned his head back to look above, she looked to him once more. "You know I am not. Not yet..." she admitted quietly for a moment, closing her eyes before looking back to the fireplace. "...but I will keep preparing all the same. As much as I am able. That coldness... it doesn't have to be that way, you know." She remarked upon his mental state, wrapping her arms underneath her bare bosom... someone like him really did need a small flame to warm his icy heart... but... was it someone like her? She wasn't really sure about that.

Perhaps she was right, the coldness he allowed to encompass his being over the eons may yet thaw, but not until they all paid and order was restored.
“Maybe one day.... but that day is very far away.”

Lilim nodded slowly at his statement, a longing look on her face when she looked back towards him. "I hope to see it someday... all the more reason for me to keep going and keep thriving..." she whispered, just loud enough for him to hear her.

Another move of the board, another ally in the war to come... perhaps also growth for his somewhat apprentice Tarble as he grew into his powers. Two allied empires that were just beginning were better than one.... another empire that needed to revitalize its embers to burn brightly once more... Azazel had deftly set the stage as keenly as his older brother ever could. Now it was just a matter of time and power.
“Till next time...” he muttered, his eyes glowing as his body faded into a dark fiery mist.
