With impressive speed, Vegeta leapt through the air, his body tucked into a ball he flipped half a dozen times before unfolding himself and landing with perfect posture on the training room floor. As soon as his bare foot touched, an array of ki blasts machine gunned from alternating hands, filling the air with destruction. Within a span of seconds, thirty two floating training drones exploded in rapid succession, so rapidly, timed so perfectly to the untrained eye it could have been all at once. Bits of metal chimed as what little remained of the drones fell to the hardened floor.
A buzzer sounded in the room, followed by a crackling noise as the intercom signaled over head. “Nicely done, my prince!” Cilan’s familiar voice commented on what he had just witnessed. “Most impressive! You’re getting stronger by the day.”
Vegeta’s menacing gaze shot to the surveillance camera in one of the corners of the room. “Don’t patronize me, you old fool,” he snapped. “This is nothing. I need to find a quicker route to my goals. I am just a shadow of my former glory.”
“Patience, my lord, patience,” Cilan said assuredly, his voice crackling through the P.A. system. “The steps you are taking are phenomenal. I’ve never seen such progress in all my years.”
“Well, that’s not surprising,” Vegeta shot back. “You’re speaking to the greatest, natural born warrior in history. These drones, they are no longer a challenge for me. I need something more.”
“What did you have in mind, sire?” Cilan humbly asked.
Vegeta thought it over for a moment. He had been spending quite a bit of time with Bardock, the first class Saiyan warrior that he didn’t know too much about, and yet it was more than what he would typically learn of a lower class Saiyan. Bardock had a way of pushing Vegeta, and over the past few weeks, the two had become something of partners, if they hadn’t developed something of a healthy rivalry. Bardock was a good measuring stick for the prince to track his own progress. The fact that Bardock could hold his own when it came time to fight, and had actually bested Vegeta in their last skirmish made Vegeta confident that he had picked the right warrior to train with.
“Go fetch Bardock for me,” Vegeta instructed. “I have some special training I’d like to go over with him. We’re going to really kick things up a notch. Jump start this rehabilitation.”
“At once, my liege,” Cilan respectfully complied.
“And Cilan,” Vegeta added. “If you ever tell me to be patient again, I will rip your heart from your chest and feed it to the dogs. Do I make myself clear?”
“Of course, Prince Vegeta, my apologies,” Cilan’s voice sounded quite worried through the speakers. “I will retrieve master Bardock immediately.”
