So it was set.
Eizen tipped his drink back a bit as he let out a sigh, smiling over at the blonde that was approaching him. Zack, the demon that he had come to know from the Hiwatari family. He had been visiting the Van Eltia a lot as of late, bringing a wide grin to the Malak's features. It wasn't often he had gotten outside company onto the ship, especially over the past couple decades, yet Zack seemed to be ready to change that. "Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes." He teased a little bit as he sipped at his bourbon.
He looked over the blonde for a moment, but only out of mild concern. He had gotten into the habit of doing so, trying to survey his condition. The Malak had been somewhat worried about Zack lately, after all. Sometimes, whenever he came to visit, he'd cough up blood or have little spasms that would throw Eizen into a panic. Yet he knew Zack wasn't just going to ask for the healing and Eizen wasn't going to stomp on the man's pride by forcing it on them. The least he could do was offer him company. "What brings you to me today?"

The elder demon always found his way back to the Van Eltia. With both Akito and Yamato friends with Rufus, he found himself venturing his way over too. It was a nice place to visit and he was happy in knowing that his boys had friends. But, what stopped Zack from having some as well? Eizen and Benwhick seemed to be the closest people to him, that enjoyed the man's company, despite his demonic blood. He was happy knowing that, considering he could sense the divine energy in Eizen's blood.
They were both men that never asked to be called 'da' by those that they looked after, but they were. They were the cooks of the family, the caregivers. Perhaps it's what brought them together in the first place, the fact that they were so damn alike, despite the opposition of their blood. Zack was a little hesitant on coming over today, if only because he hadn't been feeling well as of late. What with dealing with Jiro and taking care of his family, it was starting to weigh down upon him. He was getting sicker as the days passed, to the point that his family feared that his time was coming.
But he didn't ask for help; he never asked for help. He didn't want to put that sort of burden on someone. He didn't want an operation that could kill him faster and take more of his life away. If he died tomorrow, at least he would have accomplished raising and protecting his family to his very last breath.
The demon arrived in front of the Malak, who was grinning at him with a glass of bourbon in hand. Zack smiled and parted his lips open to speak, that thick German accent naturally flowing as it always did. "Can I not come see a good friend without reason?" He moved to sit down on the stool beside the man, taking hold of that bottle stationed in front of the Malak, before pouring himself a glass. Tipping his head back, the alcohol began to roll down his throat, a content breath leaving him in the process.
"Benwhick told me you just came back from a mission, thought it was a good time to see you."

Zack asked if he couldn't come see a good friend without reason, causing the Malak to let out a chuckle. "Fair is fair, come take a seat." He patted the seat next to him, moving to slide a bottle his way. Zack happily filled his own drink before mentioning it felt like a good time to come see him. He did just come back from a mission, after all. Eizen let out a low sigh, nodding his head along to the thought of that. "Yeah, he ain't wrong.. we just got finished stealing from this rich guy's house."
He shuddered as he recalled the things he had heard during that particular mission. The things he had heard very well ignited a pure anger in him, but he tried to put it off to the side. At least the bastards involved in it all were dead, right? "It was a tough mission, but it came with a bit of stress so I'm just trying to lean back and relax." He flicked the bottle around through his fingers a bit, only to fill his glass again and look over at Zack. "How about you? What have you been up to, my friend? Nothin' good, I bet." He winked, laughing a bit.

Zack tilted his head to the side, looking towards the Malak as he seemed to recall the events he had just went through. He mentioned that it was stressful and he was just trying to relax and unwind. The demon nodded, his smile starting to return. "Then relax you shall." Then, Eizen asked what he's been up to and that he bet it wasn't anything good. A soft laugh escaped the demon, those golden irises drifting to a close. "You caught me." His sharp canines beamed into a wide grin in response.
Thinking about it, he nodded before speaking. "We had some trouble earlier today with hunters, but we should be fine for a bit." Realizing something, he raised his hands with a small smile. "I ensured I wasn't followed, do not worry. I wouldn't endanger your family." He let his hands fall again, taking his glass as he took another long drink of alcohol. He wouldn't mention his illness, he never did.
"Seems to have been a long day for us both."

Zack had mentioned those hunters again, those damn hunters were always going to be an annoyance, weren't they? Zack was also quick to state that he wasn't followed, but Eizen found himself not as worried about the possibility of him being tailed versus the idea of Zack being hurt in general. So when he stated it had been a long day for them both, Eizen simply nodded. "Ain't that the truth.." He sipped a bit more at the alcohol, his cheeks tickled pink ever so slightly as his gaze went to the demon.
"Those damn hunters need to leave you the hell alone." His eyes narrowed a bit at his friend. "I might be a Celestial but I'll teach those bastards a thing or two if they don't leave you alone. You're leaving well enough alone at this point." He knew about their family and what they did, he had even watched them do it a few times, after all. He wasn't exactly thrilled about the concept of demons eating humans, but when it came down to just needing to survive, it made people do some crazy things.. Eizen wasn't exempt from that sin, after all.

Eizen seemed to grow a bit passionate in that moment, stating that the hunters just needed to leave them alone. The smile on the demon's face shortened slightly, his brows knitting together as he let out a faint laugh. "Afraid that won't ever happen, friend. It's been this way for many moons. Every member of our clan is lone since dead. It's just me and the younguns right now." He had told them about how their parents had even met the same fate, which resulted in why Jiro was the way that he was. "You can justify both sides of it.. and people are going to side with the ones bringing the problem extinct. We.. eat people after all. People don't necessarily feel safe hearing that."
His arms folded over the counter, letting his gaze wander forward as he leaned against the wood. "But.. we're really happy to have met people to accept us." Those golden irises shifted over towards his friend then, his smile beginning to lift just a tad more. "We didn't have a friend in this world that we could trust until now, after all." Zack already had plenty of scars on his body from fighting off the hunters, all of the family did. But they wouldn't ever show it to the pirates. That part.. they should remain ignorant about. If only for their own safety.
