The Cosmic Emperor was the lone figure in the lavish meditation room, illuminated by the flickering of a thousand candles.
He lowered himself into a relaxed, meditative position atop the comfortable mat, legs crossed and folded beneath him. With all the tenderness of a mother handling her infant he laid his beloved sword on the floor beside him, closed his eyes, and slipped into a familiar trance, allowing him to draw on his new-found primordial energy.
He let the pre-creation power flow through him, mind already drifting to the Immatereum. Though his eyes were shut he vaguely sensed the shift around him, the sudden sensory shift that felt the way that water-color paintings look-- amorphic, constantly shifting, melding, before finally settling into something new and unexpected.
The first thing that stabilized to his senses was the temperature. Gone was the comfortable warmth of his meditation chambers, replaced with sub-zero temperatures. He felt the flakes of snow gathering on his exposed skin and eyelashes, a small bit of the powder falling like sand down his cheeks when his eyelids slid open.
His crimson gaze beheld a winter wonderland under an endless black sky. He watched the flakes, silver and dark, fall straight down from the formless abyss above. There was no wind, no sounds, just the gentle twinkle of the rolling dunes as far as he could see.
Despite the inhospitable temperature (likely several degrees below zero), this place was peaceful. His sigh pillowed into a cloud before dissipating into the astral ether.
'Yeah, this place will do just fine,' he decided. With little more than a mental shrug he sent a ping of psionic energy across the cosmos to the being who had blessed him with his new found power.
With any luck he would catch the primordial demon with some free time. -------------------------------------------- Chaos WC: 360

The primordial sat upon his ship, his eyes gazing outward upon the endless expanse that was space... he thought it was ironic that his father had mirrored the expanse between the stars as a stark reminder of the darkness and the emptiness that was the void before creation... almost as a reminder to himself and to the others that were there with him before time itself began to tic... creation was a fickle and delicate thing and at anytime it could go back to what it was before... nothingness. The prince tapped his fingers upon the arm of his captains chair as if lost in thought before he felt the subtle yet prodding mind of his herald... his dark apprentice who had agreed to follow him in exchange for power.. the power of the primordial's. He chuckled as he knew Chaos was in the astral realm, he seemed to reach out to him when he was in that realm recently but it had been for conversation and prodding into his past... this time however if Azazel was to dip into the realm between creation and nothingness he would do it... but their interaction would be quite different this time around. The bridge of the ship was empty except for himself so he closed his eyes, his mind calming as he allowed his mind to detach itself from his present vessel and dip into the arcane of the astral. It was like free falling through dimensions at light speed, the synapses of the conscious mind firing rapidly in order to adjust and conform itself to the mystical properties of the realm. In a flash of brilliant white light his eyes opened, his body had materialized in a plane already created by the Emperor of the Cosmic Empire. Snowy white dunes were splayed out as far as the eye could see as the inky blackness of the sky made him remember the expansive void of space he had just been staring into. His breath exhaled in a cloud of white mist, the temperature was cold... very cold... subzero temperature really had no affect of the primordial as his vessel was of a supernatural build so the arctic freeze felt no different to him than a blistering summer day. The again nothing would seem cold to anyone who had spent any length of time in the frost temple as he had. His eyes quickly took hold of the cosmic emperor as he finished his analysis of the realm they had been placed into. "Chaos..." The primordial lord's voice was even keeled as he spoke his heralds name, his eyes bore into the celestial with a supernatural intensity as he let his crimson coat fall the the snow covered ground at his feet. He was dressed in his ebony shadowguard battle armor, a tall well built shadow in contrast to the expanse of white around him as he let his body surge with the violent power that coursed through his vessels veins. "Show me how you have adapted to the power I've granted you.... show me how you have evolved Chaos... and do not disappoint me... I would be most displeased!"-- WC: 527

Chaos grinned, watching the red of Azazel’s jacket fall around his feet like a fresh pool of blood. Within seconds the snow threatened to cover the jacket erasing anything that would threaten the purity of the rolling snow dunes. The eruption of primordial power punched a hole in the snowfall though and the jacket and snow were blown away from the force.
He covered his eyes against the intense power radiating from Azazel and the snow powder flying in a mad dance around the demon.
Chaos’ free hand grasped at the air, a long black hilt manifesting there. He slowly withdrew the length of crimson metal, dragging it through the unseen rip in dimensions. The Cosmic Emperor held it in front of him, tip of the blade glinting in the unnatural light as it drew level with Azazel. Chaos’ indigo eyes reflected on the flat of the blade facing him, Azazel’s demonic gaze mirrored on the other. Snow blew around the only two figures in the white dessert.
“It would be nothing compared to my own disappointment,” he replied through the howling wind.
The Cosmic Emperor stepped forward, snow crunching beneath his geta. Chaos’ expression turned cold betraying the excitement pounding in his chest. He took a deep, calming breath of the frozen air and exhaled it in a soft white cloud. The primordial energies lurking inside him felt as if it would all come bursting from his skin if he didn’t resist. He couldn’t be wild and reckless here, against a being as dangerous as Azazel. He moistened his chapped lips with his tongue. Yes, this would require skill and cunning if he was going to adequately demonstrate why he was deserving of Azazel’s devilish blessing.
He stood motionless allowing the snow to settle around him. Flakes gathered into tiny piles upon his jet black hair and shoulder guards until he erupted towards Azazel, sword held wide dragging a deep trench in the snow at his side.
“Rrraaagh!!”
The red blade blurred through a wide arc, intent on severing flesh and muscle in Azazel’s left shoulder.
With the precision of a surgeon and the brutal efficiency of a butcher he wielded the blade, twisting it around with a simple flick of the wrist, aim a disemboweling slash across Azazel’s abdomen.
Both of these strikes were a simple ploy though, for all the while his empty left hand gathered a sparking orb of destructive energy, cradling it behind his leg and out of sight until the perfect moment.
Just as the slash finished its path the other hand shot up, ablaze with crimson fury, unleashing a cone shaped blast of primordial energy point blank, Azazel’s figure blocked from his sight by the rapidly expanding wave. -------------------------------------------- WC: 520 TWC: 880

Chaos had drew his blade and the prince smiled, it was genuine in nature as his blood boiled in anticipation of the Cosmic Emperors assault. The snow continued to fall around them in such a pace that the snow he had blown away by exerting his energies was already returning the landscape to its previous pristine condition, that was until Chaos darted forward, his sword slicing the ground and the snow as he arced it upward to slash the primordials left shoulder. A grin crossed Azazel's face as his pupils contracted, his supernatural senses kicking in as he watched in almost slow motion as the Emerpor moved, the gleam of his reddish sword refracting what little light cascaded from above. If it had been anybody else... a lesser being they would have actually appeared to stand still compared to the primordials speed and how he interacted with the environment around him, but Chaos was no ordinary celestial or mortal... no, he was his chosen and his gifted primordial energies allowed him a measure of ability above and beyond the rest of the cosmos. Still, the difference in their power and supernatural energies was evident and the enhanced reactions of the primordial dark lord allowed him to move his right arm up to intercept the deadly blade strike with his bracer which shot a long curved spike out to meet the blade. A thunderous boom emanated from the contact, blowing the snow at their feet away in all directions, a bubble of kinetic energy swirled around them displacing the falling snow and distorting the realm around them. The blade retracted with a quick flick of the Emperors wrist and quickly... at least Azazel assumed in Chaos perception it was quick moved to slash his abdomen, a strike which would have gutted him like a stuck pig if he had not been himself. The dark lords left arm shot upward as his left bracer did much the same thing as his other one had, he caught the blade with an upward motion of his arm and turned it outwards away from himself, the contact once again issuing a monumental boom that cracked the rocks beneath their feet. Azazel pivoted back slightly as his eyes caught a glint of the shimmering orb of primordial energy that swirled in his companions hand. His grin etched further upon his face as time rapidly seemed to resume, he brought up his arms to cover his chest as a wave of bubbling primordial energy enveloped him, forcing his feet to dig into the rocks as he slid backwards from the impact. Black tendrils of energy rocketed outwards from his body as they wrapped around his armor and his body, spikes shooting from his elbows and shoulders as the power of his chaos seed took root and layered him in chaotic armor. The destructive energies began to dim as his armor shimmered, greedily draining the force upon which Chaos had unleashed upon him, feeding off it as if it had never tasted energy before. The prince simply thrusted his arms downward bubbling the energy away from him slightly as it began to dissipate. The landscape behind him and around him was dug out from the destructive force, the rocky ground glassed over from the intense heat of the power... a chuckle escaped from his lips as he stared at his herald, his glowing red eyes burning like fire in contrast to his pitch black chaos form armor.
"Yes.... that was refreshing child... rejuvenating in a way." He chuckled as he raised his hands up palms up as he clenched his guantleted fingers, crimson bolts of energy swirled around his body and his hands as he relished in absorbing most of the attack, swirls of smoke curled from his arms and his chest as he cracked his neck from side to side. It was his turn now and he aimed to please as he in a blur of movement punched the ground with all of his strength, the surface shimmering briefly before it imploded in a gigantic crater, the ground disintergrating as it sunk further and further. The realm struggled to keep up with the level of destruction as the very fabric of the astral realm shook, thin cracks in the reality spread outward in all directions as it ebbed and flowed before rippling out of existence. The snow... and ground for as far as the eye could see was gone..... the two of them falling into the depths of the crater as a fiery aura of black flames surged to life around Azazel. His grin was gone, not that Chaos could see it behind the helm of his chaos armor, but his eyes radiated a dangerous glow as he rocketed forth, the reality behind him almost breaking into a thousand arcs of thin refraction as if a mirror had been punched in before it quickly redoubled and looked normal. He was upon the Emperor faster than a blink of an eye, his arms moving to wrap around his mid section as he moved to smash his herald with a devastating Dragon Dive, their presumed trajectory would land them both in the side of the crater... the impact if successful would assuredly test the limits of the realm around them to keep up with their destructive energies. He lived for combat... as he hoped his compatriot did as well. He was still holding back... could the Emperor make him release more power than he had already mustered? Time would tell.

A satisfied grin splayed on his face, Chaos watched his blast slowly dissipate leaving behind nothing but steaming snow and destruction. As the smoke and snow began to clear though he could already make out the glowing red predatorial eyes peering back at him through the devastation.
It was, of course, unsurprising that Azazel wethered the storm of attacks with such ease but no less frustrating for the Cosmic Emperor. Chaos noted the way the lingering energy seemed to react to Azazel’s gauntleted arm. He knew it was never going to be that easy-- after all, if it were he would not be herald to a lesser being.
That same arm moved faster than he could perceive, smashing into ice, rock, and reality itself. The world around him buckled and plunged into an impossibly deep crater that went on and on, spiderwebbing cracks like miles of broken glass.
His eyes darted around as he fell through nothing, desperate to locate the devil, only registering his presence through sensing the overwhelming primordial power.
Unable to avoid the attack he brought his left arm up to meet it. The single limb was hardly a match. White bone exploded through his pale skin as his gauntlet warred against the mind boggling force.
He reinforced his block with a mighty telekinetic burst of energy that would separate the combatants. Chaos hovered over the vast crater unsure how deep it went. Being unbound from typical physical expectations, there was no telling how far it went. One mile, a million miles, an infinity-- in the face of Azazel's strike none of these possibilities would surprise him.
He oriented himself against the gaping chasm, left arm hanging lamely at his side with warm blood trickling down it like a dozen red rivers.
"Heh. With a single strike you've done more damage to me than I managed with three. However," he said, a wicked smile forming. With the index finger and thumb of his sword wielding right hand he plucked a trinket from behind his chest plate, secured with a simple twine around his neck.
"--we will suffer together.
The entire crater was flooded with a sickly green light that seemed to be emanating from the artifact itself, rapidly growing in intensity around them casting a pair of long shadows.
In the next imperceptible instant a connection was made and along that connection only pain was transmitted between them. All the agony of his shattered arm and torn flesh flooded both of them but Chaos was already gone, moving in on the great demon.
The air boomed as he appeared just above Azazel with his blade screaming through a neck slash.
Utilizing the momentum of his last attack he spun around on the air itself, delivering a graceful spinning heel kick aimed at Azazel's armored chest.
He attacked from slightly above and his attacks were intended to drive the demon down into the murky depths of his own creation. From the cracks in the crater all around steam curled, followed by an orange glow. Then, the entire crater emanated the yellow-orange light.
A single drop of magma escaped one of the cracks splintering back up to the snow covered plains that may have been miles away. In the dull glow Chaos' eyes reflected the fiery colors, dark shadows pooling on his face making his expression.
At the Cosmic Emperor's command lava erupted from every exposed pores of the buckled landscape. Massives boulders crumbled from the edges of the crater and fell into the unseen depths. The molten liquid rushed from every direction and a geyser rumbled from below, moving in like a tidal wave to devour everything except a two foot by two foot bubble of safety around Chaos himself. All the while his senses never left the energy signature of his target, ever alert to counters and dodges. -------------------------------------------- WC: 685 TWC: 1,565

Chaos had intercepted the collision well, using his arm to buffer against the primordials spear tackling dragon dive, but at the cost of his arm... the limb splintered and broke... a gory mess, but the Emperor was used to pain, he no doubt reveled in it as did the Dark Lord. A lesser being would of been obliterated with that strike, at the very least driven into the rocks and cripple beyond measure. But there Chaos hovered as Azazel drifted backward, his ebony chaos armor shimmering with his primordial and chaotic energies. He chuckled audibly, more to himself than to Chaos, but the herald was already reacting.
"Heh. With a single strike you've done more damage to me than I managed with three. However," he said, a wicked smile forming. With the index finger and thumb of his sword wielding right hand he plucked a trinket from behind his chest plate, secured with a simple twine around his neck.
"--we will suffer together."
Behind his helmet the Prince Azazel's eyes opened a bit wider with recognition as the Celestial Emperor pulled out his trinket... It was near instantaneous, the transference of pain from Chaos to the Prince... Azazel grit his teeth as pain radiated from his right arm, his vessels skin burned as the pain radiated throughout the appendage. While his arm remained intact and usable he felt every agonizing aspect of the wound he had inflicted upon his sparring partner, the pain moved from his arm and into his shoulder and chest, his left arm on reflex moved to grasp his right arm as he growled... anger began to creep into his thoughts... but he quickly subsided it... quelled it back into its recesses as his eyes caught the movement of his herald... quickly and accurately trying to capitalize on the sheer shock and surge of pain that washed through his body. A boom echoed above as the chosen one appeared slightly overhead, his sword, arching down to cleave into his neck and shoulder, had his face been exposed a twisted look of appreciation and agitation would of been visible to Chaos, instead the black void of his chaos armor was all that greeted him as the primrodials left hand darted upward to catch the blade, sparks erupted from the collision as his guantleted fingers closed over the metal folds of the blade, his hand firmly locked around the slashing weapon as he tore it off to the side. But as to be expected Chaos had not quite finished, it was as if he anticipated the reaction, as if he knew Azazel would of been to proud to simply dodge and he gifted him a graceful and deft kick to his chest rocketing the dark lord into the chasm of the abyss he had created.
The impact was felt full force as he blasted downward, a coppery taste filled his mouth as he flew down... the kinetic transference of power from the kick had done enough to cause blood to rise, silvery ichor creeped from the corners of his mouth as he grunted, his body jerking to a dead stop as he threw his arms backwards and jettisoned a wave of energy behind him. Azazel shook his head as he regained his composure, but it would not quite be in time as he zeroed his attention back in upon the Empires greatest warrior. This is what he wanted to see, what he had asked to see... and so far he had not been disappointed. Magma washed over him, coated him, clung to his chaotic armor as it feasted upon the thermal energies, fire... heat... these things were nothing to the primordial lord of darkness and he chuckled as he had seen Chaos use this tactic before upon other foes.... foes who had never been birthed from the intensity of primordial creation, had never soaked in the fires of the burning hells or the radiance of a burning star. With a snap of his fingers upon his right hand he released all the stored chaotic energies gifted unto him from absorbing the blows to date from the Emperor, a gigantic bubble surged forth against the never ending tide of magma as his ignited Ion Blast ripped through the chasm, burning away the molten substance as it filled the massive crater and blew outward in all directions... two could play this game he thought before vanishing in a mere blink before reappearing high above in the snowy sky. He looked down upon the top of his radiant blast... mixed with magma and undoubtedly a surprised Chaos. But no... he was not done, he cupped his hands together and brought them down by his waist as his Chaos Armor began to flake away, the massive amount of damage it had absorbed had done it in as his visage once again took its normal appearance, silvery blood was caked upon his lips and chin as he began to chant.
"Ka...me...ha...me......"
A dark swirling orb of ebony and crimson energy swirled to life and expanded rapidly as he condensed more and more power into the swirling vortex... it was time to show the Emperor why HE had once been the Archangel of Death... the spreader of terror and the reaper of souls.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Thrusting his arms forward from the hip a beam of titanic proportions sonic boomed forward, cutting a deep gash into the reality of the Astral realm as it filled the entirety of the crater below, piercing into his Ion Blast and combining both energies in a cataclysmic explosion!
