"They don't live with most of demon kind," Hayami stated, "Think of them more like...how best to put it...rural?" The foxes, while not really divine or purely demonic, lived more like tricksters and lil' assholes. Constantly deceiving and being rude. They had their own complex away from Lucifer's Empire.
"I could probably force them onto the mortal plain and they'd look more like an ancient Earth society, the same as when I was on that island on Earth. Just older and without a lot of technology. Also probably a lot more inbred." She had to admit that, it would be best for them to intergrade more into demon kind.

“Farmer foxes,” Yan mused with a grin. He usually favored the tricksters versus the fallen. He was far more suited to the old kind then to the fallen, even if Lucifer liked him. “The rural areas are all quite different so I couldn’t guess their situation without really knowing...if they seem fine though, bothering them is just that.”

Fox farmers, that was funny enough, seeing as daji's business was farming, while Hayami's was more infiltrator and researcher. At least while she was with Damaskia. "They'll need some guidance, at the very least." But she knew that they'd take their sweet time in modernizing. "You'll have to tell me more about demon kind. I can't really visit Hell on my own, I'm forced to go to Heaven when I go to the Next Dimension."

“You can break out of heaven,” Yan said with a grin that suggested he’d done as much before. Even though it was much more common to break out a hell, the two mirrored realms likely worked the similarly. “Or just kiss up to Yamma. He’ll let you travel about if you do him favors,” the monkey added with a small shrug, taking away from his own hype by offering an easier solution. “What would you want to know about demons though? There’s many different types.”

"I suppose I'd need to know how they respond to beings like me breaking into their realm," she suggested. "I can't imagine that they'd take someone like me breaking into their realm sitting down. Mostly because I don't think you'd take it sitting down." She said this in a way for Yan to know that she was referring to her "goody-two-shoes" manner. There wouldn't be an easy way to suppress it. Hell, Luficer would see through any attempts to act evil.

“Well,” Yan said holding his chin. “When I bust into hell, if its the outskirts and torture realms, where most hell portals open too, I get attacked and am forced to show murderous dominance,” he explained, seeming to think through the scenario as he spoke. “If you can get to the city though, then it’s like a mixture of Damaskia’s Central City and the lawless areas of Cactcylsmia,” he continued, pairing two almost opposite cultures together.
Damaskia was a militant police state where crime was not accepted, and the rough areas of Cactacylamia were lawless lands of betrayal and lies. But that was Empire city—a strange combination of the two but a combination. It was a police state like Damaskia, only they policed very different things. There was order to what lawless countries normally saw. You could not go against that order, but murder and crime was treated a bit differently.
The city was protected by most portals though. Getting there could be a challenge without connections or power. Even Yamma could not open a door directly there.
“In ‘civilized’ hell, most demons act very human. They’re people. The largest difference is that their ability to empathize is usually very small.“

"Hmm. Sounds like I'll be protecting my ass if I went there on my own," she grunted. The Celestial looked at the demon before her and sat back. "I could probably get into the neutral plain easily enough. Is it easier to portal onto hell from there?" She remembered the hell portals on Damaskia. Or at least the stories. "Wait," she started slowly, "The first time I went to Damaskia...that time i flung a giant canon at that tower... was that a time with demons or was there something after that with demon portals?" She couldn't remember that at the moment.

“That time you almost killed a valuable witness to a terrorist cell....” Yan said flatly, giving her a small glare that had no weight or real unhappiness behind it. She probably didn’t remember or even really realize. That day, Yan was the only one who seemed to get the gist of what was really happening. The other Shadowguard were fighting RBC units, Tomoko was slacking off, and Hayami and Hikari were just following the action hoping to get a small in with the Shadowguard again. At least, that’s how he remembered it.
His glare faded and he sat back. “That event was the catalyst to opening the large demon portal in District 7. Since then we’ve had smaller ones that rip because of it to take care of and close, but the big one stays guarded and open while Pendragon and Lucifer play the long game with each other.”
He paused, then smiled. “I could you through it~” he said referring to the guarded part. “But it leads into the outskirts as well. Its an annoying trek to Empire City from it. Lucifer sends envoys. Not as bad as some paths though.”
