Frostburn had become predictable.

Syric’s daggers continued to do the job of ripping the Changeling to pieces, but every single time that he had tried to close the distance, he was countered with a kick to the nose. Not once, not twice, but now 3 times. He did not need his precognition to know what was coming this time around. As the hunter raised his heel once again, he blasted him with a flow of ice, looking to encase him once again, but more importantly not have his nose busted up even more.

That was when Frostburn had begun to gather energy of his own. Syric’s eyes narrowed as he traced the energy, but then it was launched up into the air. Quickly he realized what was going on and began to charge his own attack. Flying backwards as the beam almost collided, before it came right towards him. Sending a surge of his reserved energy into the blast, suddenly he formed his own attack in his hands, ”BIG TREE CANNON!!!”

It was an attack that Syric rarely used. It was by far his most inefficient attack, but he had it for one reason. When people fired beams at him, they normally were not ready for such a power consuming technique to simply overwhelm their attack.

Pushing his energy, the empowered charged attack crashed into the much weaker ki efficient attack of the Changeling. Overwhelming the blast wouldn’t take much at this point. It was on the tired hunter to figure out how he was going to handle this. Did he have enough ki to overwhelm Syric’s attack or was he simply going to have to figure out a way to dodge or block the attack and hope his body would hold out? Considering the situation doing either of the defensive options would be much harder than normal.

Syric’s breath began to hinder. Deep breaths after the struggle of beams resolved itself. He did not have time though to think about how he was going to keep this pace. Just as Frostburn had ignored his own exhaustion, the thief had to do the same.

”You are a better fight, than I gave you credit for Frostburn.”

Blasting at full speed towards his target, he looked to stab right into the side, hoping to pierce enough to hinder his kidneys with this stabbing motion. More importantly though he hoped his blade would do its job and steal some of the remains of Frostburn’s power. He was going to need it to start working if he was going to keep this up for much longer.

He kept his pursuit to stay close to the Changeling as he stabbed at him once more with his left-handed dagger and then sliced at his face with the right one.

”Your body ready to give up yet?”

All he could do now was power up. The Changeling was trying everything he could to summon forth the power left in his body to combat the Celestial, but it had left him vulnerable. Not just because his energy was nearly completely gone, but because his body was in shambles after the Big Tree Cannon overtook his beam. Syric knew the fight was nearly over now. The ice from the defensive technique had stayed flowing over the hunter leaving him even more exposed. The thief’s eyes lit up even more. It was time to properly finish this fight. To put this fool down and go grab a pint… that was if the tavern was still standing; he had not taken the time to check at this point.

”Ice..” He said before opening his mouth releasing first a blast of pure fight, ”Plus Fire He said between blasts before releasing a pure energy blast towards his target, ”Makes FROSTBURN!”

He repeated his earlier taunt now, still finding it funny even though it was much more annoying than anything else. A thrust from his arm sent a blast of chilled air towards Frostburn now. The Kiaiho combined with his survival locked in the Ice Temple had caused the attack to be even more dangerous and yet basic under his control. It was the Syric method. Simple and basic efficient techniques that were meant to drain his opponent until he was unconscious and then leave him wounded and scarred with the remembrance of just how great the Celestial was.

Knowing his next technique had failed so greatly earlier in the fight, he wanted to try it one more time, to limit what the hunter could do. Maybe it would be reflected back at him or maybe it would finally trap him, but the electrical net he released had a simple target in mind, trap the Changeling and make him even more defenseless. Powerless, defenseless and helpless; it was exactly how Syric liked his victims being.

He faded away after releasing the net, moving behind his target as he jammed the energy stealing dagger up towards the kidney area of Frostburn, looking to put him down once and for all. Even if it did not land, he was more than willing to stay close range at this point. He was going to do everything in his power to make this a melee fight until Frostburn was simply out of power to fight back with.

As was expected that stupid ring bounced his net back at him. Syric sighed, what a lame tactic that was being used, but hell maybe he could see how it felt. Yeah, he was kind of crazy and at this point a little punch drunk on the battle.

The net entrapping him made him ignore any last moment rage that Frostburn. It was to his surprise though that the hunter accepted his challenge to close range combat. He had avoided it up to this point with a kick to the face of the Celestial, but now he seemed eager.

They exchanged what was basically a bunch of misses to start, before energy formed in the hand of the Changeling. Syric turned his body to the side, letting the empowered punch catch air. It was hard to connect with attacks like that in this situation, clearly his opponent would have to chain things like this together if he was going to gain the advantage over Syric here.

The shift to the side, opened up a chance to retaliate which Syric was happy to do. His tail quickly smacked the arm at the elbow before he sent a quick kick towards the back of the hunter’s knee.

He tucked his daggers back for a moment, ”No weapons then?” He said seeing that his foe had decided to strike with his fist and not the sword or axe tail that he had. Maybe he was not trained to utilize his weapons in this situation, or maybe he was scared, but either way Syric wanted to play this new game.

Quickly he struck out with two jabs to the face of Frostburn before throwing a quick right hand towards the cheek and then a quick poking kick towards the other knee of his target.

”Let me think.” He said before quickly poking his knuckles into the rib area of the changeling before stomping down towards his foot, ”Where have I not hit you at yet? His tail snapped around looking to hit the hip quickly of the Changeling and then he threw one last strike, looking to poke a finger into the ear canal of his enemy.

This was a situation that demanded quick strikes for efficiency and Syric was happy to go that route. Hopefully he could find all the parts of Frostburn that he had not hurt up to this point and cause him pain in those areas too. The sadistic side of the wanted Celestial was now coming out. It was a matter of if the Changeling could handle it or not.

Frostburn had managed to freely dodge a few of the quick strikes thrown by Syric, but still a few of them found a home on the vulnerable Changeling. The thief had wished he would have enchanted his gloves with the energy stealing that his dagger had, but at last he had not. Maybe it would have made them more of a threat, but for the dying hunter any strike could end up being his last at this point.

After the strikes, Frostburn asked if he was part Saiyan. Syric laughed a little, his mind focused on the fight while he talked, ”All badass thief here!” He turn his body watching both of the first two power strikes catch nothing but air as his shoulders seemed to be the target here.

That was when the Changeling got dirty and brought his leg up towards the groin of Syric. Quickly he brought his knees together to block the blow and check the kick before it could land on its target. All of his attacks were power attacks at this point. He was desperate to strike one blow and stun Syric out of this close combat situation. Maybe it was a good strategy, but the Celestial saw it as desperate times for his attacker.

Ducking down just as Pagoma had done moments earlier, avoiding the power kick to his head before the tail whipped around at him. It was not the bladed side though this time. It was just the bulky tail of the Changeling that was coming at him. He ducked under it, countering suddenly with two quick punches to the tail as it whipped past his head.

”I thought I’d knock you out by blood loss, but I guess this time it will be just pain from these hands!” He lashed out quickly with two jabs towards the face of the hunter. The bloodied nose and cheek would be good enough targets.

At this point they were both hurting and it was a battle of determination to see who would survive. The only difference really was that Syric had used a moment to pop one of the sacred beans and Pagoma had not gotten that chance. It was the relentless assault from the Celestial that kept him in control at this point. He had to keep that up.

He would do just that, launching two more rapid fire strikes, the first to the body and the second a downwards punch to the thigh of Frostburn. Eventually his body would fail him, but he knew at this point the hunters body would fail him first.

”I’m far to cute to be a Saiyan.” Syric said, smiling in the middle of the grapple to show his pearly whites.

He wasn’t certain how the hunter had dodged his attacks as it happened without description, but it was certainly something he wasn’t ready for. That combined with his talking caused him to be somewhat distracted, but as the kick came, he vanished for a moment dodging away from the attack before popping in next to Frostburn once again. This time the tail of the Changeling came swooping in, but he pulled his cross guard up once again to block the tail. He wanted to punch at it like he did before, but this time around the hunter vanished right away. It was a sign of a different tactic, but also it removed the chance for Syric to lash out as he had desired.

Syric closed his eyes, he needed to rely one more time on his instinct and as the attempt to grab him came he shifted sliding away from the attempted throw and quickly gathering himself just in time to take two quick punches to his body. As the knee came up, he used another burst of speed to pop in behind the Changeling in order to avoid the strike.

Quickly, he lashed out with two punches towards the kidneys of his opponent, ”My tail is certainly cuter than yours.”

As he flew near Frostburn, he tapped one foot down towards the tail before throwing a quick punch in unison to his target. Syric was growing in confidence, knowing how he was going to end this battle now, he just had to wait for the right opening to do so.

”Smells better too.”

Shifting to the side now he jabbed first towards the underarm of the Changeling and then as he kept moving the shoulder, ”I’ll promise to not kill you, if you just give up already and pass out.”

Frostburn was certainly good at dodging. Ever since they had gotten into this high-speed combat situation, he had seemingly found a way to easily dodge almost all of Syric’s quick strikes. One attack sequence after another it became clear that the Changeling was adapt at running away if nothing else.

Having had another attack sequence easily dodged and his generous offer ignored, he decided it was time to end this charade of a battle.

He held his arms out after Frostburn dodged once again and decided not to defend himself. Hard strike after hard strike crashed into his body, causing him to take the full brunt of the powered down hunter once again. With each strike he took though he smiled, an arrogant grin that would probably only make the next attack hurt that much more.

The trickster was up to something though. With each powerful strike attempt the Changeling launched at Syric a bit of energy invisible energy was released. The Celestial’s favored attack was his invisible freezing blast of power. This was a form of that attack, spread out to bits of energy, a combination he was sure would end this battle this time around.

As he fell back, the pain of the strikes echoing over his body he spoke clearly, ”Goodnight.”

One after another invisible beams of energy that he had released launched at the Changeling. The targets of each were precise as well. Each attack targeting wherever the greatest wounds his daggers had left on the body of his opponent were. Four strikes in total, to match the four physical attacks he had taken to make them. They would be timed to land one after another, the invisible nature not allowing for the cowardly dodger to avoid them as he had his quick attacks. The style of attack enough to really emphasis his strategy of defeat by a thousand pokes.

Syric did not need the big attacks many liked to use. He actually enjoyed chopping foes down like trees, breaking them and seeing just how much pain and suffering he could cause before eventually his enemy would fall.

He grimaced suddenly, the shock of the physicals he took head on reaping the rewards and costing him a chance for a cool ending that he had hoped for. If only he could have given Frostburn a wave and called him Frostburn one more time! That would have been the ending he desired. Maybe the Changeling would surprise him and find a way to survive and still grant him a chance to get the ending he desired from this battle!

Frostburn had finally done something except for dodge. This time he had shown the extent of his ki defenses it seemed all in a burst. Syric was impressed, but as he saw the Changeling finally consume a senzu bean of his own he smiled. Others might have been annoyed, but the Celestial knew what it meant. More time to hurt this hunter.

”Please tell me you are going to fight now?” Syric had stolen many senzu beans and already used one in this battle. He knew what the beans looked like and what they did, ”I want to actually have a fight and not a dodging contest.”

With the hunter taking all his time to defend it had left Syric time to catch his breath as well. He didn’t have the need like Frostburn had though to recover. Instead, his plan was rather straight forward here, continue with the process that got him the advantage to start with.

He flashed his daggers out once again, gripping them tightly before rushing back in. He could see the healing that the recovery bean had done and that was going to be his target to undo all of its hard work. Frostburn had needed to recover and that gave Syric time to make the wounds on his body that much deeper.

Darting in towards his target, he slashed his right-handed dagger up towards the body of his foe and then stabbed the other towards his side. Not wanting to relent he pushed forward, stabbing with the right hand this time into the chest before bringing the left-handed dagger up to stab just under the Changelings ribs.

A quick combination of slashes towards the face followed, looking to cut from ear to nose on each side before he slashed both daggers downwards hoping to cut from the top of his head down to his cheek. A smirk came on his face as he continued the motion stabbing down at one shoulder of the Changeling before slashing at the neck for his final strike of the flurry of weapon strikes.

He figured Frostburn would probably start to dodge again, but even with the help of the senzu bean he was going to have to do something quickly. His weapons wouldn’t win a race against Syrics or at least that is what the Celestial believed. He had proven himself the far superior weapon user in his mind to this point. He needed to remember that if he decided to fight in a grapple again.
