Earth had been in a strange place for years now. The Galactic War shattered the Protectorate and its protection of Earth. The world was overcome and destroyed by the ones made to save it. The Steel Legion started on Earth, and it took her first. It was the Saiyans that stepped in to save it, but the Saiyans themselves danced the line of Civil War. Some of the Saiyans served Earth well, while others ravaged it. The Reformists and Prince Vegeta wanted real peace for the planet, while other Tradionalists wanted it treated like any other world, humans and any non-Saiyans made slaves while the natural resources were slowly but surely tapped out. The acts of these Saiyans were not ignored, and the first year of Saiyan reign brought protests and riots towards their saviors, but it was smaller scale before the Central City Massacre.
That day things changed dramatically. The conference was attacked, and Central City was wiped out, all while the second Saiyan Prince sat safely in West City, proclaiming his god status and even insinuating relations with the Cosmic Empire. The broadcast of Tarble’s speech spread far and wide. He declared that he had the power over their lives. That he was god. It was punctuated by him destroying West City in a display of that supposed power. Where as he meant to inspire fear, he instead fanned the flames of many’s rage.
The Saiyans failed to protect Earth. Its capital was wiped out by forces never explained, though evidence eventually tied this too, to Saiyans, whether they were with the Royal Party or not. Upset spread, calmed by Bulma Briefs and her continued support for Prince Vegeta. Tarble and the Royal Family could rot in hell, though she said it more elegantly than that, but Vegeta had been attacked that day as well. Recordings showed him protect her over himself, and she swore by her own life and name that he had the world’s best interests at heart.
And then she was murdered. The galactic war hero who stayed on Earth under Steel Legion occupation, the woman who stood up for Earth at every turn, who made peace with the PTO on Namek while risking her own life...was brutally murdered on Vegeta-sei by none other than the man who claimed himself god over Earth: Tarble.
It was a closed casket, and more stories filled the world, like how Tarble had kept her head as a trophy, or that Vegeta had stood by and let her die. There were few official statements. The Briefs remained quiet. Trunks was still part of the Saiyan Empire, and Boxer, her adopted son made careful statements to the press, carrying Capsule Corp forward the best he could in his mother’s absence.
And Earth? Earth was set on fire, but like every fire that grasped West City, it was contained and the world went on. Life went on. Protests under Saiyan rule remained. Units were forced out of rural areas. The army was often isolated to Earth’s moon base. But the humans were still unable to do as Vegeta had asked: prove they were strong enough to take care of themselves. Heroes came and heroes went, but there were few that would truly stand up and protect the world no matter the cost…
And Yan was not supposed to be one of them.
Well, he loved Earth. He really loved Earth. It was his favorite planet in this entire universe, but after almost dying in Central City, finding Juch’s inanimate chassis wrecked to a nasty point, and dealing with Sei Edgen, the creator and founder of the rivaling Earth science department of SEI Tech, he really wanted nothing to do with Earth and Saiyan politics. He got in a fight with Chishan over it. That guy was supposed to be someone who protected Earth, but off he went, selfishly and childishly. He couldn’t protect anything at all. No one could, so Yan usually refused to try.
The two year anniversary of Bulma’s death was fast approaching, and riots ensued in response. The new Overlord, or perhaps the old one, he wasn’t completely sure, was still appointed by the Saiyan Empire, who was ruled by the Royal Family. No matter what she did or what she said, trust was a far cry away. Earth was an open minded planet, perhaps the most open minded planet in the galaxy, accepting demons and talking pigs without question, so there were some that welcomed her. There were many that accepted her and trusted her dream...and then there were people who were simply angry. Sense was lost to them at this point. They wanted change. They wanted repayment for their pain. Most importantly, they wanted it their way. Nothing would sway them except drastic action.
So why not be drastic action?
The idea came to him like a dream, and he brought it up to the undead scientist. She frowned at him, made him promise to do it away from people, but did not suggest he not do it. More power was being granted to the young overlord, a young girl who really didn’t look the type to be able to lead anything at all. She seemed like a flower to him, delicate and perfect. She reminded him of Kaiya, but she also reminded him of Chishan.
Chishan, Chishan, Chishan, who swore he wanted to protect Earth, do what was best for it, save it! He swore he was good but he never was. Yan was beyond jaded by good people with power. Perhaps this girl truly meant well, but that usually did not matter.
A trial was deserved. She had missed the whole conference ordeal. She had not been on the front lines when Earth’s most important players were trapped in a deadly force field being hunted down by vicious creatures and acid rain. She was not in the room with Tarble when he played all the wrong cards. She was not tried, and as the unfortunate representative of the Saiyan Empire, a proclaimed overlord, she was Earth’s enemy. There would be no quieting their disgust with the Saiyans. Drastic change was needed. Someone needed to take action.
It sounded fun.
He thought about just jumping her. He loved doing that, but usually against opponents far stronger than himself. Jumping a poor unsuspecting girl...okay it still sounded fun, but if this was meant to show change, a certain level of publicity would be needed. The only way that would happen is if he jumped her quite openly in a major city...and then he would destroy said major city. (Poor, poor Namek.) So that was out.
He sat on his hands for a moment, and then he wrote a letter which he sent to three sources individually: The Galactic News Network based on Earth, the Saiyan moon base, and to what his connections told him would reach Maragai directly.
”Earth has spoken: No more overlords. No more Saiyan Empire. If strength is needed, than I will show it: I officially challenge Overlord Maragai to a battle for Earth.”
Below it was a date and time, listing the Saiyan Moon Base as the location. If need be, they could send the whole army instead. It would certainly show the girl’s character. It would also show if she could control the Saiyans apparently under her reign. There was symbolism there as well. The day chosen was the known anniversary of Bulma’s death, and she had died on a Saiyan Base, outnumbered and alone.
The Moon Base was a largely developed area. Most of the army set up shop her, creating temporary homes and training grounds. The atmosphere generator spanned over a large portion of the moon, allowing them plenty of space to run around without worrying about air or distorted gravity. They had all the points around it guarded, and yet they did not detect Yan Cass until he stood at the designated spot, patiently waiting.
He was surely not what anyone expected. He looked human, as he once was, but he also looked dangerously young and unprepared. He was only about five and half feet tall, and had a very boyish face that made it easy to assume he was more of a middle schooler than register that the body had actually aged a full twenty eight years. His posture was too relaxed for a battle that carried the weight of a whole planet, and the news drones were surely making notes on the wreckless teen and how another life was bound to be lost to the Saiyans.
He wasn’t even dressed properly, but that was an illusion. His clothes fit him like they were tailored and yet under them was the experimental Shadowguard armor that sat right against his skin protecting every vital diligently. The Shadowguard would seriously be furious with him if his actual name and position within their ranks was released, but his involvement with Shadowguard was very, very private despite his commanding rank. Only on very few and specific occasions had he brandished the sigal, so for this he was just Yan, the once human, apparent protector of music, cell phones, and heroin.
His power level was suppressed to a minuscule one to represent the average power level of the people he was supposedly representing, and yet he stood there, his hands behind his back, his posture relaxed, as if he were the strongest on the moon. He probably was, but the way he presented made it feel more like naive cockiness. He had reached Maragai, and snuck on the moon base undetected, so obviously there was some merit in this challenge, but the true weight of it could not be felt so early. The only clear warning sign was his eyes.
They were a dark brown, almost black, and they peered at her in such a way that it almost felt intrusive. It was hard to pin down his expression. Was his mouth smirking or was it imagined? Was his brow furrowed or was he completely relaxed? But his eyes, whether they felt narrowed or not, stared deeply into her, looking for something that would not normally be easily seen. He looked at her with eyes as old as sin, waiting to pass judgement.
”If I win, the Saiyans leave Earth,” he said simply, restating his mission even though she might decline him here and now, claim she couldn’t control the empire...Boring. He waited though, to let her give her say, list any excuses or spread SE propaganda. He’d listen, but he doubted anything would speak more to him than an actual battle.

Earth-Sei... It had seen better days, to be frank. Maragai was not ignorant of that fact. Every day was an uphill battle - and not one fought with strength. She was up to her neck in dealings of the Saiyans who had very blatantly broken off from her own forces and staged their own hierarchy with one simple goal: to show that their will and way of life was the true path of strength. But in Maragai's eyes, strength had to be balanced with temperance. And these self-proclaimed 'Traditionalists' showed little to no restraint when they decided to make a point. There were many of her own forces who urged her to go to war - to quell the forces that grieved Earth-Sei with their very presence and ideals. But that three letter word carried a harsh weight behind it - one that the young Vessel of Light was very unwanting to burden. Not upon herself, but of the planet and its people she tried to protect. Earth had seen enough of a war thanks to the Steel Legion. For the Rasagin, to wage another war - a Civil War was likely to burn up the entire planet in its wake.
So she had tried diplomacy. For whatever it was worth, the Traditionalists had heeded some of her warnings. Though the young teen had to admit, it seemed to be a neverending cycle. At times, the Traditionalists would quiet down. At other times, they would flare up like an ugly and angry zit.
Maragai did not want to pop that. She prayed that she wouldn't have to fight violence with more violence. So instead, she found herself cleaning up after whatever messes the Traditionalists ended up making - trying to repair and mend their relations through mitigation. The Rasagin tried to soothe the damage as well as soften their blows.
But fires could only be contained for so long before growing and erupting out of control.
Lately, the Vessel was starting to come to a slow and grim realization. War was close. Tensions between the Saiyans were as hot as lightning. But the Saiyans' anger was matched only by that of the humans who called this world their home. Though a large portion of their populous seemed to approve of both Maragai and her methods, there were many others who were openly mistrustful of her and blatantly angry at the criminal actions of Saiyans who were no longer under her control.
With a heavy heart, Maragai had made her decision. She had done so in secret - mobilizing her forces and fleets over the course of six long weeks. The Traditionalists had been antsy as of late - they were ready to strike.
Maragai would strike first. Perhaps then, she could contain the damage of the war. Perhaps then, she could force the fight to go how she wanted it - to cause as little collateral damage as possible. There would be death, sure. But the Vessel of Light did not want to outright kill the Traditionalists. Rather, send them back to Vegeta-sei wrapped up in their own banner. And that was going to be her message - her point to the rest of the Saiyan Empire. Maragai was no longer going to tolerate Saiyans with these powerful egos on the human world. Earth had suffered enough. Had her decision come later than what most would consider a swift judgment? Absolutely. But Maragai was no stranger to strong individuals who openly criticized her. After all, recent dealings in South Galaxy had taken her away from her duties for a long time. She was a Vessel after all.
And to her dismay, when she had come back, things had erupted far more than she had envisioned. Omega had done his best to step in as Maragai's second-in-command. But she had left him with the strict orders that he was not to openly engage the Traditionalists in combat. And even if the Saiyan Fleet Master did not agree with her decision, he respected it all the same. Maragai had come back to more anger and more hatred.
And so the challenge she received was of little surprise to the young Rasagin. He wanted combat - a battle over Earth. Fitting that the place he wanted to meet would have a grand view of the azure and green gem swathed in white clouds.
Omega had warned her to ignore the challenge - they were much too close to stamping out the Traditionalists for good. But Maragai did not want loose ends. If this challenger was like the rest - he was simply wanting her broken body lying dead on the ground so that the Traditionalists could take over. She had seen these before. She had heard that rhetoric. And with each challenge, Maragai answered, laying waste to her opponent and promptly banishing them off of Earth-sei. To where? Really, the Rasagin couldn't give a damn so long as it was far away from her homeworld.
And then there was another problem. Tarble. Just the very name of it made the young teen seethe. She had once considered the young prince a close friend and a sacred ally. But now... That bond was shattered. She would move on him when the time was right - this, the Vessel of Light vowed. Maragai was forced to grieve when word reached her of Pan's death at his hands. She was a strong warrior and a strong woman. Maragai was not so boisterous to call her a friend, of course. But the Vessel did treasure her regardless. Back then when they had traded blows in an exhibition match to announce Maragai's new title. There had been some connection there, the Rasagin knew.
Now, Maragai had three wars to prepare for. One against the Saiyan hounds who treated Earth like their playground, one against the young Prince when she grew strong enough to challenge him, and one against this nameless challenger. She hoped that a win here would create a domino effect - sending a strong message to the Traditionalists as well as giving her a leg up in the war she soon planned to bring to that godless group of ruffians and scoundrels. They were nothing more than cancer that needed to be cut out - a blight that needed to be cleansed with Je'sheln's light.
She would deal with the aftereffects come hell or high water.
And so she arrived. Despite Omega's warnings and misgivings, Maraga touched down within the lunar base with hardly a whisper of sound. Not even a single particle of dust rose from where her feet touched - showing a control that likely seemed out of place considering her age. And across from her, a man stood. The dark and brooding waters of his eyes were starkly contrasted by the magnificent and light-filled glow of Maragai's own amethyst pools. Her ebony hair cawed like ravens, picked up by the wind of Omega's much more loud entrance. His brow furrowed and a frown crossed his cracked lips as the Saiyan crossed his titanic arms and allowed his tail to hang. The tip of it twitched as if it had a mind of its own. Or perhaps it was an extension of his feelings as he glowered at the man who had issued the challenge.
Maragai seemed to stand in Omega's shadow. Unlike him, she was short and lithe - borderline frail looking. There was a glow to her skin and life to her hair that to most would have likely been evidence that she had never seen a battle. Her skin was scarless - void of anything that spoke of hardship. But those closest to Maragai... they knew.
They knew.
There were murmurs around her as some of the Saiyans on the base backed away. Some of the warriors inched forward but stopped dead in their tracks when met with a single gaze from Maragai. And silence reigned for only a moment. Then, the challenge had been laid down. It was as much without preamble as it was strong in context. Maragai narrowed her brilliant amethyst eyes as she extended both her senses as well as her natural psionic ability. She did not delve into this man's mind - not yet anyway. But her senses told quite a lot. His Ki seemed... tainted - at least, from the pathetic amount he allowed to leak from his body. Maragai's eyes lowered as she took note of his garb - yet another sharp contrast to her own. She wore Saiyan armor that was embellished with a crimson stamp across her right breast that showed her title.
This man was looking for an Overlord?
As much as Maragai detested the title and its implications, she was nothing if not a good hostess for giving him one.
Despite that, Maragai did not decorate her back with a cloak. Nor did she wear a crown upon her head. After all, she was the leader of her forces here on Earth - not its people. And to try and convey her image to the humans, the Vessel of Light refused to wear such fancy ornaments. Such trifling things, they were.
A moment or two was all it took for Maragai to try and recognize the man before her. He seemed to know her - or at least, he may have thought he did. But the Rasagin found that she did not know him (or claim to) in return.
"Do you really expect me to agree to those terms?" Maragai answered the simple demand with a simple question. Omega leaned down to her, whispering into her ear. But whatever the Saiyan Fleet Master said was dismissed by a shake of her head. "I'm not sure who you are or where you come from, but I'm not going anywhere or retreating my forces to leave this place to the animals who want to run the rivers red with blood. And if you are with them, you will be ejected with the rest of those Traditionalists. I will tolerate their presence on this world no longer. I have tried to control them through words, but they only respect battle. My hand has been forced."
Though Maragai may have not had fully come out and said her intentions, the implications were of no doubt there to read quite plainly. It earned her a small frown from Omega, but the young Rasagin teen did not bother justifying his wariness with a glance. Instead, she simply continued to give the nameless man before her an even amethyst gaze.
"So what are your grievances, hmm?"

Yan watched her as she replied, enjoying the high and mighty seat she had placed herself on. Yes, this was the type of good he hated. She tried to tell Earth that she was not an overlord, not a Saiyan leader, but she stood here now deciding she was Earth’s only salvation. She stood here, defending Earth but she didn’t see anything but Saiyans. She was worried about the Tradionalists, she was worried about her people and what they would do. She was cleaning up her own messes and acting like she was doing them all a favor for it. ”Tradionalists,” Yan repeated with an air of mockery. ”Reformists,” he continued, raising his gaze to the starry sky as he seemed to consider the title. ”Both are Saiyans. Both fall under the rule of King Vegeta, a Tradionalist, who keeps his ways at bay only because he does not wish to deal with his child...a typical father,” he explained before looking back down to her. His expression was quite unreadable, and if she did try and pry into his mind, heart, or soul, she would find herself unable to. Whatever defenses he held also pertained to them, and they were powerful ones. ”As long as the Saiyan Empire is here in any shape or form, Earth is under threat,” he said simply. ”As long as you are here.” His eyes narrowed now as he studied her more closely. ”You think you’re fighting the good cause? You think you’re above your king? As long as you hold status in the empire you belong elsewhere.”He paused there, looking down to the ground before releasing his power slowly. It flowed out quietly, without any force or much presence. It rose past one hundred thousand, then two, then three, and still it felt effortless. The energy poured out like a soft stream, but the water was filling a bucket. Six hundred thousand, and it kept rising as the manufactured air around them grew heavier. ”It’s a declaration from the Royal Family: If Earth proves it’s strength, if it no longer needs the Saiyans, or you, it can have its freedom,” he explained looking back to her. ”You think you’re helping, but you’re in the way.”Still the power kept rising, breaking one million, and still carrying higher. He had a very strange aura. There was human in it, if you looked deep deep into it, but the human had been eroded by demon, and the demon had been eroded by something else. It was a strange broken aura, as if parts of it had been erased and destroyed, and some type of Celestial ki poured in to fill the cracks. It wasn’t kais, or angel ki, it was older than that, more potent and odd, but it could not be sensed by the normal mortal and without it the aura would surely feel even stranger. He was not an ordinary man, or an ordinary demon. That was certainly the strongest in him, the demon, but it was hard to ignore the rest. His aura finally began to show, a soft blue that stayed on his skin creating a glow. This blue turned quickly to black, as a sense of anxiety immediately spread from him. It was different than the anxiety of facing a strong opponent. It was less sensical. You could stop and analyze it and there would be no answer. It was just there, making your skin crawl, urging you to panic, urging you to let your mind run wild. It was an aura infused with chaos itself. Chaos was never inherently evil though, even if it felt dark and dangerous. It was just another strange quality of the man before her. ”If I win, consider my strength Earth’s. Order all the Saiyans to leave due to Royal family decree.” With this his gaze fluttered from Maragai to her second command, as if making sure he was paying attention as well. It was very possible the overlord would be dead at the end of this after all. ”The Tradionalists might not listen to you, but they’ll listen to the order of King Vegeta.”There was the possible outcome that if Maragai decided that Earth was strong enough, the King would disagree, but she was still his appointed overlord. For whatever reason, she had been allowed to keep her position in the Saiyan Empire. She lost the respect of many of her men, but she still represented the empire and the King. If his representative was taken out in such a formal duel, he would have a choice to make. He could choose not to honor it, and bring more war to Earth or he could accept it and happily pull his forces. The thing was, King Vegeta never had any interest in Earth. He didn’t even bother to have any say in it. He didn’t care about the resources or using humans as slaves. He had bigger priorities in the many colonies he had rule over that had far better resources and slave material. Earth was Prince Vegeta’s pet project. If Maragai fell to some greater warrior, he would consider it his son’s failure. Not many people knew it, but the King hated Vegeta with a strong passion, so having an excuse to drag him through the mud would be exceptionally tempting. Either way, Saiyans fighting Saiyans did nothing to help Earth. He was sick of it. They were sick of it. Maragai was a nuisance who couldn’t control her own men and sat and whined about it until she finally acted creating her own mini Saiyan civil war on a planet that wasn’t even theirs. She could have sought political power from the Prince or King. Prince Vegeta would have done something surely, with his unnatural love for the planet. Instead she relied on brute force as much as them. She wanted to lash out against them? Prove she was a strong enough force to protect Earth? That didn’t change anything. The rise of power level seemed to finally stop, but in place of its steady flow, sparks seemed to crackle in the air around him. ”If you cannot agree to these terms, you are merely showing the Saiyans who go against you how weak you really are,” he said in the end. ”And then I’ll just have to take out the next sucker who takes your place who actually has the balls to try and protect what’s his.”He gave her a moment then to agree, but if she didn’t, he would merely shrug. Truthfully, his end power didn’t quite rival Chishan’s. He was still under that smug bastard who stayed in ascended Super Saiyan twenty four seven. The thing many of Yan’s opponents had found out however, was that the most dangerous part about him was his speed. In an instant he was upon her, his fist swinging out in a wild punch he did not expect to hit. Hell, he half expected her big older brother to dive in front of it, but it didn’t matter because with a rush of ki, he slid behind her on the man’s far side and aimed a ki infused punch towards her kidney. An explosive force shot out from his fist, and with a pivot he aimed to get behind her once more to deliver another two swift jabs towards the same spot. With his feet planted once more, he rammed his head down towards the girl’s, then stepped in to try and deliver another explosive body blow. His foot rose in a high kick meant to take off her head, and as if to punctuate that malicious intent, the point it reached also exploded in a dangerous showing of ki. Free. UnsuppressFree. So... he was yet another hotheaded person. The man before her didn't even seem to listen to her words. Rather, he only reacted. Venom dripped from his voice as he regarded the Vessel of Light with open hostility and blatant hatred. He went as far as to label the young Vessel of Light for the core behaviors of the Saiyans present on Earth. Was that a fair assesment? Perhaps to somebody who showed the inability to think at a grander scale, sure. And from what Maragai was begining to see, this man was if nothing, a simple thinker. Still, she kept her calm, not so much as bristling at the man's words. By now, it was evident enough that her 'challenger' was not a member of the Traditionalists. Was that a good thing or a bad thing, though? Maragai felt that the following moments would define that. She did not respond. She simply allowed the man to spit out his anger, not even so much as flinching at the storm of power he was begining to show. Omega, however, did. The powerful Fleet Master immediately ignited his own Ki in response, allowing his own power to flare in response. His hair flickered to life into a golden hue as his muscles expanded to compensate for the near impossible amount of Ki he was pushing out. If the man before her could sense powers, he would likely see that the Saiyan Fleet Master was likely damned close to him in raw power. And briefly, Maragai wondered just which of the two would truly come out on top if blows were thrown. Omega was a battle-hardened veteran of the Saiyan Empire. But at the same time, he was just the same as the man before her in demeanor. He was a hothead. And as much as the Vessel of Light would have liked to simply step back and let Omega handle things, (it would have been catharisist to get his pent-out agression out every once and a while) she simply fixed the man with calm and liquid eyes. Out of the pair, Omega was certainly the muscle - boasting a level of strength that Maragai had yet to reach. But Maragai... Maragai was the calm of them - she simply raised her arm to bar Omega off before the Super Saiyan even had the chance to launch into any sort of attack. "I'll handle this," she told the Fleet Master quite simply. In response to her challenger's massive rise in Ki, Maragai had stayed in her own base form, seemingly unconcerned with the power she was sensing. All things considered, the power she was sensing was quite literally nothing when compared to the elemental deities she found herself in company with. Sure, this angry man was strong. But he wasn't strong. At least, not when compared to what Maragai knew. Was it foolishness that caused the Rasagin's lack of response? Did this man expect her to stagger and gag at the Ki he was putting out? Perhaps. But the flashing lights and dark subtle hints to his Ki was not lost on the Vessel of Light. Her inital senses had been right - despite this man's words, he was tainted inside. Very tainted. In comparason, the teen's own energy was likely to feel almost light and floaty. As if her own Ki was touched by a heavenly deity. And even if Je'sheln was a far cry from 'heavenly,' the element she boasted was of a well enough comparison. "What?" Omega looked at the young Rasagin at his side in utter disbelief. "He's after your damned life, Mara! I can-" "There's been enough violence," she responded simply. "He wanted to challenge me, not you. Go back to Earth and alert the Conclave of Elements. If I fall here, Alexstrasza will right things and make sure the humans are kept safe." "But-" "Now, Omega." Maragai turned her gaze away from the cliche light show before her to fix the Saiyan Fleet Master with a steady amethyst gaze. "I said I'll handle this." There was a pause. Two pauses. The battle-hardened Saiyan opened and closed his mouth more than once as if he were trying to find the words to argue against the Rasagin's decision. Then, he swallowed harshly as he allowed his ascended form to slip from his body with a hiss. "Goddammit, Maragai. Don't get yourself killed." Omega didn't bother to wait for a response. Instead, he simply placed two fingers on his forehead and vanished from the moon. Once more, Maragai's hair seemed to wave as air sucked in to take the place where the massive Saiyan's form once was. And from there, Maragai turned her attention back to the man before her. He was seething. His anger assaulted her senses like knives, and Maragai found that she could only sigh in response to the display. After all, this sort of aggression was predictable. Even if this man was faster than her. Even if he was stronger. It was predictable. His words meant little to the Rasagin. And frankly, the young teen had already committed herself to a single train of thought. She was going to make him see reason. And if her words weren't enough, it would be her will. And unsurprisingly, as Maragai took up a quite evident half-hearted defensive stance, the man attacked. His speed was impressive, but not impossible. Maragai had seen creatures with far more than this one had to offer. And even if his mind proved too hard for her to read into fully, his body language alone was enough to get a decent enough read. And so, the Rasagin Vessel responded accordingly. Yan didn't expect his first blow to land. And it didn't. Using her small body as an advantage, the young Rasagin merely ducked beneath the wild attack before allowing her right hand to be engulfed in the element of light. And if Yan's Ki was anything to go off of... well, Maragai's counter was going to hurt. At least, it would have if the Rasagin was actually trying to really damage her challenger here. It was a shallow cut, one aimed towards the man's chest. A single diagonal arc was administered with less strength than the young teen could actually muster. There was a message in it - a message that showed that Maragai was more than aware of Yan's power, but unwilling to treat it as most warriors would. It was the reason she had sent Omega away. She was trying to settle this 'battle' with reason - much like she had tried against the Traditionalists. Would it work? Maybe. Maybe not. Somehow, Maragai doubted that this man was one to see reason in both her body language that showed reluctance to combat him as well as the weight of the decisions she had to make. But in the end, did it really matter? Maragai was no fool, after all. She couldn't beat him. Instead, she was relying on something, anything within the man that was good. And if she failed? Well, he was going to be striking down a young girl out of sheer anger. Let him live with that, she supposed. More blows came, this time, infused with Ki. But even as Maragai rose from her last attack, seemingly a snail in comparison to this man's speed, her element reacted in an almost unconscious like manner. It leaped to her aide, tanking the brute strength of this transformed man and his angry blow. There was a backlash, of course. The Ki of his attack had seeped through her barrier of light. But in the most convincing manner, the Vessel of Light didn't even shrug from whatever damage that blow had dealt. The light cracked and splintered beneath the force, but didn't fully give. Instead, she found her bearings once more to... simply stand as his heavy fists crashed into Je'sheln's element. By now, the child's stance was quite loose. In those amethyst eyes of her, a more level-headed opponent would have likely seen her unwillingness to fight. But another blow landed yet again, causing the light around her to finally crack and shatter. Maragai didn't bother to reignite it. Instead, the Rasagin opted to try and worm herself fully into Yan's mind. Though his thoughts were well guarded, but she wasn't aiming for his thoughts. His mind was strong. But how would he fare against an opponent who knew how to utilize their psionic abilities correctly, Maragai simply attempted to sever his ability to infuse another angry fist with Ki. After all, such methods were crude, were they not? The final blow, however, landed. There was a loud and audible crack as Maragai recoiled backward from the explosion in her face. She didn't fall, however. Instead, she simply took a single step back as she absorbed the impact so she could plant her right foot into the ground. Cracks formed beneath her feet. And for a moment, Maragai simply stood there with her gaze upwards. After a few seconds, she lowered her gaze. Still, her amethyst eyes were neutral - and once more, she did not retaliate. Blood seeped from her mouth - the only evidence that Yan had actually damaged her and she turned her head momentarily to spit out a small wad of the crimson juice of life. Had his blow hurt her? Absolutely. But the Rasagin refused to show it. After all, she was no stranger to beings who held power over her. In the breath of a second, she could already envision Tork'thal, the Vessel of Earth. He hit harder, plain and simple. And her own mother, Blackfire, was far quicker - she was the Vessel of Lightning, after all. But this man seemed to be a dangerous mix of both. At that point, Maragai allowed her power to flare. Not her Ki, but her element. A choking amount of fog seemed to fill the entire area around them - a condensed fog of literal light. It was thick. It was choking. It was oppressive. It was enough for Maragai to condense her thoughts and form her words as she felt the element fill her with energy. She wiped away the dribble of blood at the corner of her thin lips and looked at her hand for a moment. "You seem to have an awfully low opinion of me, all things considered," the Vessel finally answered the man's anger-fueled rant. "So, what? What is your answer to this? You're going to protect Earth-Sei? Forever? Or until you get bored and move onto other things?" Even if Yan could no longer see her through the thick fog of light, Maragai focused her attention to the man before her. "So what's your answer, then? It comes with a heavy heart that I have to combat violence with more violence. But yet, you target me. And you try to solve my solution with violence. To borrow a human term, isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?"Maragai exhaled slowly, crinkling her head from left to right to crack her neck as she shook off the blow that Yan had dealt her. At this point, the young Vessel wasn't trying to bide for time - she was simply unconcerned with the anger before her once she had realized that this man was not part of the Traditionalist Saiyans. "Me? Royal family? Please. King Vegeta and I see eye to eye as much as he believes this world has potential. I don't answer to him; my goals are my own. My very reason for being in this position are..." Maragai trailed off for a moment. She somehow doubted that Yan would either understand or comprehend her position in the universe as a Vessel. She was there to make sure everything kept spinning. She was the balance between the Kais and the God of Destruction. Not the answer, just the response. ...less than controversial." Maragai finished, shoving her hands into her pockets as if she really wasn't taking the massively superior opponent before her seriously. "Saiyans may be a threat, sure. But that is when they are uncontrolled. The Saiyans here who crave battle and a show of strength? Well, they have no place here. And it's with a heavy heart that I must go to war with them. And whether King Vegeta agrees with my methods or not, I will protect this planet." Maragai's eyes softened somewhat. "It is the place I was born, after all."Another pause. Was she getting through to her attacker? Was she not? Really, the young Vessel had no way of truly knowing. Either way, as much as both Omega and Je'sheln may have disagreed with her, Maragai was quite literally leaving herself open to the man before her in an attempt to reason with him. I will do everything in my power to shoulder whatever burdens both you and the humans here have against me when it is all said and done. Although the humans here have shown remarkable growth in both strength and in a willing to become stronger, they cannot protect themselves. Whether you believe me or not, I am days away from making a move against the bastards who plague this beautiful world."
"I do so with a heavy heart, though," Maragai told the man before her. "Earth and her people have already suffered enough as it is. This was my last option. To face violence with violence. I will gladly shoulder any sort of hatred the humans have towards my decision. Only as long as they are kept safe." Her voice suggested more than a simple title. After all, Maragai did love these people. "So if you really want to help this world, then help me help it," she told the man before her. "I detest the fact that I have to go to war, but I see no other choice. If you help me, I can keep the damage at a minimum. Earth needs something or someone to protect her. And it is better for it to be an army rather than a single person, yeah? But if I go, Omega will take my place. If he goes, the Traditionalists will run this planet red with blood. Instead of directing your anger at me, direct it at the actual cause."For a moment, the Vessel paused yet again. Her thoughts were brewing quite harshly. "I am not your enemy here."Her surmised words were the nail in the coffin for her performance. "They are."Another pause. "But if the only solution in your head is to kill me, then do so," Maragai told the man. She had enough confidence in her to allow her the satisfaction of knowing that her will would be carried out even if the hothead before her did listen to his primal being and ended her. "It's your choice."General Prepped Items Prepped Weapon Techs Actions Stats:

Yan’s head tilted to the side as Omega powered up, a smile slipping onto his face in almost challenge. He hadn’t had a real fight since Chaos and that had been under annoying circumstances. Fighting a stranger, someone he could gladly rip apart and tear into while being tore into, made him think this might turn out to be interesting after all. It wasn’t even that he just didn’t care if he had to take out the other Saiyan first, he quite wanted to. Hell, he’d play with them both even if he wasn’t completely sure how that would fare for him. That was part of what made it fun. Unfortunately, Maragai called her attack dog down, leaving Yan to turn his attention back to her. He already knew where this was going. She was too high and mighty. She would not step down from her beliefs or see things his way. She trusted the people below her to continue her mission, so she had no fear of dying. It was boring, but it was what he expected. Saiyans were always quick to be stuck in their ways. That was why Tradionalists remained so powerful. Maragai was not a Saiyan, she was something else, her aura spoke of it, but for all intensive purposes, today, she was one. Yan thought about trying to stop Omega. It would serve him better to, especially if he was going to carry on her will, but his goal here was never truly to get rid of the Saiyans. It was a target he wanted to reach definitely, but his goal was very different from the start. So he went after the girl. His mind flashed with the results of his attack and it made him frown however slightly. He swung hard, but used that force to spin out of reach of the blade. He was tempted to take it. He was tempted to force it to dig deeper into him, but she hadn’t proved that interesting. He saw his attacks hit her barrier, and was still satisfied with the damaging effects it had, so he did not stop. He felt a twitch in his mind and once more he completely locked it out. She might have been a truly gifted telepath, a prodigy, but that didn’t matter. Yan feared those types the most. He wanted no one in his mind and he refused to let anyone attune to him. She could not touch his thoughts, she could not touch his brains function to the rest of his body. It was a pure and solid wall disconnecting her from him entirely, and he would keep it that way. The ki still formed and was used, but the force of pushing her out did cause his swing to miss, sliding next to her instead, the electric ki singeing the very edges of her clothes. His next attack was unaffected however, and this time it touched her directly, giving him a very satisfying hurt to his foot as it cracked against a body and not just a weakened shield. Seconds passed and the monkey had to wonder why he didn’t attack again, but as her ki changed, he immediately fled, pushing himself high up above the fog with no interest in being trapped in it. It was funny that she expected him to listen while trying to choke him out. It was only when the light faded out again that he touched back on the rocky surface, looking to her while still hiding any annoyance or irritation. It was funny to him after all. His expression had remained neutral, his eyes unreadable. His tone did not have a wicked undertone as he stated each accusation like fact. He had an acquaintance, a fellow Shadowguard member, who rarely showed anything on their face, and their tone was always a monotonous. For them, they truly felt nothing, or at least very little, but that neutral face was always twisted up, even by companions. People became convinced they were angry, or sad, or any other negative emotion because they did not smile. Yan was usually the opposite of this soldier. He always smiled. He hid every other emotion in that smile and it was always hard to tell what he was feeling, but today he understood the soldier’s predicament. Today he had kept his face blank, and the girl had decided it was anger. She stepped forward, her speech unfinished, and took his hand. He allowed it, though ki sparked from it once more, ready to eject. It did not extinguish when it touched her throat and instead grew in destructive power, making it so only a tiny bit of effort would be needed to release it. If she was truly putting his hand there to accept danger, than she would not pull away. He let her finish, then his expression finally changed. He smiled and it was almost gentle in nature, except it was immediately followed by his hand’s fingers sharpening to dangerous points that he tried to dig into her throat, whether he had to give chase to her now or not. ”Sure~” he said at the same time quite cheerfully. Whether he managed to dig into her throat or not, the built up energy in his hand would be released from his fingertips, planning to truly decapitate her by releasing the ki inside her neck. He hardly paused, his ki building up once more in a dangerous amount of force and speed. He would try and catch her before she was blown away but if he failed he would give chase until his palm was close enough to touch her. Only then did the ki explode from it in rapid fire that seemed almost unending. He let this blow him back and then he hopped a few steps to look at what was left of her and if she had truly accepted her demise or if it was some trick of her resolve. He expected the latter. She would somehow decide at the last moment he was truly evil and escape him. Maybe she would even think him as a bigger threat than the Tradionalists that needed weakened as much as she could so her Fleet Master could finish him off more easily. He didn’t care. He rarely cared. It was easy to get things wrong. Yan wasn’t lying in what he said, and he did listen, but like Maragai, he chose to ignore her points and read into it as he pleased. Because he didn’t have a low opinion of her. He compared her to Kaiya, one of his favorite people in this entire universe. He never accused her of not wanting to help Earth or having the best of intentions, in fact he pointed to their existence in his words. She somehow believed he was against the violence she had finally taken on the Tradionalists when that had nothing to do with this matter. She renounced the Royal Family without listening that he was suggesting she use them no matter how much she detested them. She had tried everything in her power to avoid a war, but she had not tried giving up her power. She said violent Saiyans didn’t belong here without understanding that as long as there was a Saiyan Base, Saiyans would continue coming, and she could not weed them all out before damage was done. As long as she was here with her army, the Saiyans would continue to be a threat. She was days away from removing the current Saiyans that plagued Earth, but who was to say they didn’t immediately send more? For some reason she believed he was angry at her for using violence, attacking her while being against the same thing and he hadn’t said that at all. Again, humans could not protect themselves. It was always that humans could not protect themselves and yet they did so time and time again. She demanded they keep a foreign army. She demanded they ignore the position of the King of Earth who agreed the Saiyans should be removed. She ignored all democracy to decide that because the king of an alien race had placed her there and some of the humans liked her, she deserved to be in charge. Of course, Omega would take her place. She didn’t matter, and when told to kill someone Yan did not like to refuse. He wasn’t a good person. Some would call him evil due to his lack of respect towards life and his enjoyment in suffering. People always revived however. They always came back with the same big heads. Destroying her here and now would make no difference in the long run because she refused to let it. So be it. At the end of the day, he would not let her keep Earth with this mindset. Let her be a martyr so long as the world was free. Free. Telepathy Dodge A1A1. PF + Dodge A4 A2. Stun A3. Stun Free. There was no hesitation and no show of remorse. When given the mere opportunity, the man struck out, sounding almost happy to do the deed. So that was how things were? Maragai had tried to ignore her first impressions of this man - to see something else other than what her senses had told her. Something about the cheerful way he had so casually attacked irked the Vessel of Light in a way she had not realized that it would. And then she knew why. It was the same smile. The same glee that that monster had portrayed when he had slain her parents in her own timeline. The somewhat satisfaction he had been gifted in doing such an act. And all over, Maragai felt as if she were losing them again. To see her mother cleaved in two. To see her father incinerated by black Ki. It was another reason she never understood the Saiyan race and their lust for battle. And for the Traditionalists, they seemed to take it a step further by delighting in torture and death. Just another demon. And Maragai's body fell. It thudded on the moon's surface with a sickening and sloppy splash as crimson blood extended from the broken and battered cadaver. It left this man to stand over her corpse. Did he feel joy? Did he feel glee? Did he feel accomplished by the act? Maragai was left to wonder that somberly as the reality around her murderer seemed to crack and splinter. The body - his work - vanished into amethyst smoke as a new reality took hold. Once more, Maragai stood before him. This time, her amethyst gaze had hardened. There was a look of sadness on her face, and she shook her head softly as if she were more disappointing than angry at the reality she had witnessed. Did the man witness it as well? It was as if the hands of time had been moved by a mysterious force - the crimson glow on Maragai's Gateway was the only evidence of change. Still, the fog-like light poured from her much like it had before. And then, she spoke. "It's kind of funny, really," Maragai said. Her voice broke slightly in a forced chuckle. "My father always tried to teach me to see the best in people. Maybe that's why I let the Traditionalists exist for as long as they have. I didn't want to bring them to reign through force, yeah? But I have seen my father kill before. He always did so with remorse. It was a last option for him."Maragai paused, swallowing harshly as she allowed her right hand to rest on the hilt of the sword at her side. Then, she looked up. "I've never killed anyone before," came the Rasagin's confession. "And I never want to. But Omega... he tells me that I'm too idealistic. That what I envision as peace is simply unobtainable. That some day... one day, I will have to kill."Another pause. "But you? It just comes as simple as breathing, doesn't it?"The Rasagin teen let that question hang in the air for a moment. Then, she shook her head once more. "Sorry. But I can't hand Earth over to somebody like that." The Rasagin's eyes hardened. "I won't."General Prepped Items Prepped Weapon Techs Actions Stats:

The unfortunate consequence of having two great roleplayers is the minute differentials between the posts, such that to quantify such discrepancies borders precariously close to nit-picking. Maragai's interactions with Omega was great and I really liked some of the descriptions; similarly, Yan Cass' establishment of the setting for the battle was something I appreciated and the internal monologues gave good insight to how he viewed the situation. In the end, the difference came down for me to the third set of posts. Yan Cass' internal monologue edged out Maragai's creative, albeit concise (relatively speaking) usage of Bauble of Time-Slipping. If Maragai had expanded some of the points made in that post further, the outcome may be different. It's very close still though, so fight on!

Time reset. It was an odd sensation that he was more attune to than most. It was dimensional science, though he knew few people actually capable of twisting a dimension’s time backwards. Stopping time altogether, speeding it up, those were tools of the trade, but rewinding it required control over more than just the dimension but the people inside it. It was forcing their will back and will was often a very powerful weapon. Not that the monkey was really impressed. He expected some kind of recoil. Her death didn’t matter the way it played out, and everyone wanted their death to at least matter. She had to change something, so she retracted her sacrifice and felt she learned something. Had she though? The light mist reformed but the dimension itself was still shaky from the twisting. He was too attuned to it, and it upset his own ki control, even hindering his movements. New actions were required, which he supposed was exactly what the young Overlord wanted. So he relied on something bigger than the universe. The black smoke like ki that oozed off him suddenly exploded outwards, creating a wall of darkness in front of him, as well as covering him in it. It was a void of chaos, and light could not penetrate it. Maragai’s words changed as well, and this time they were a bit more worth listening to, at least to him. Both the light and darkness faded as Maragai’s question lingered over the make shift battle field. His smile returned, the same one he gave her when he killed her, but again, in the heat of that moment, she had chosen what she wanted to see. It was not manic, or joyous. It was gentle, almost warm. He was looking down on her again, but it would be too far to call it condescending. She was inexperienced and she didn’t understand basic things, but the smile showed that he did not think she was unable to understand. She just hadn’t had the learning opportunity yet. ”It is, do you know why?” he offered her in an almost kind tone. ”Because when I was your age, killing was required for breathing.”He paused there, his gaze shifting away back towards the base. ”It’s not idealistic, its stupid and ignorant,” he said, returning his tone to that simple way of speaking, not actually judging her but pointing out his view on it. ”Nobody who truly wants to be alive stays dead. Killing is just a delay, a tool to hold them hostage for what you hope will be enough time to undo them,” he explained looking back to her. ”I do take some enjoyment in the act, but to me it’s just an extension of fighting, and I like fighting.” Landing a finishing blow, making your opponent unable to strike back, winning...that was what killing was to him. There was a physical aspect to it as well, like the way his fists ached with each punch or the feel of flesh ripping, and that was probably sick in its own way, but he had tied that feeling to elation and life. He had always been a victim of his own circumstances, but being a villain over a victim was usually preferable. ”Don’t get me wrong, I believe in True Deaths, the obliteration of the soul itself, but I’ve never seen it done, let alone done it myself.” He wasn’t actually sure why he believed in it these days. It was hard wired in him he supposed. Everything had an end. Even if he had never seen that happen to a soul, it was against his very existence to believe it was impossible. ”It’s okay though,” he said keeping that gentle smile. ”I understand if this is easier for you if you consider me an evil, can’t be reasoned with, blood thirsty monster.”With that he vanished. Maybe she had seen his level of speed before, but that didn’t mean she’d completely be able to follow it. Maybe she could! Child prodigies were always impressive, but the results of his first array of attacks should have kicked in by now. She had shielded herself from the physical aspects but his ki had been electric, and it burned the flesh as it it touched into the nerves, slowing everything down. His hand was already full of ki when he reappeared behind her, once more aiming to release it when he was almost touching her. This time it wasn’t explosive. It was pure concentrated ki with enough force to blow her backwards. He wouldn’t let it however, quickly pivoting into her path to release a second beam from his other hand with equal force and destructive power, in hopes they’d slam together and crush her. He wasn’t finished there however, his hand pulling back to support the other as he released a third and final beam. It rushed towards her with equal force but this time when it reached her or its end point it exploded like the attacks earlier, only much more devastating. It took a huge chunk of the moon out with it, doing its best to catch her inside it. Wherever she ended up, he’d give chase. Like a monster, or even a beast who had found its prey, he did not let up. It wasn’t angry however, or hot headed. It was calm and calculative. If he had shown heat in his actions earlier, it was most likely due to the emotions he built up in anticipation for a fight. They had faded now that he understood her a little better, and now it was a task and a mission to simply take her down. Killing her was not some act of passion. It was as he said, a delay. It was to take her out of the game for long enough that he could make the right moves for Earth. To him it was the same as capturing her, only the Next Dimension did the holding for him. Rather than another beam, this time Yan shot his whole body towards the girl, his fists extended. If the beams could not cut through her, he would. Surrounded in that blue and black ki, he attempted to shoot through her without even a sense that mercy was needed. It was monstrous in its own way, wasn’t it? A1. Block A4 A2. Stun A3. Stun A4. His words met her ears, but they sounded hollow to the young Rasagin. The young teen stared at him for a moment, her gaze unreadable as she processed his excuse for his willingness to shed blood so casually. It was a nature versus nurture thing. Or at least, that's what Maragai could get off from it. And while Maragai had been raised in a loving family, this man had been raised otherwise. If he had been raised at all, the Vessel of Light had to ponder. But his next words. Those were the words that caused the young Vessel to react. Death wasn't permanent? What was he talking about? Slowly, Maragai's face of stoicism seemed to crumble as she let her emotion finally show. But this emotion was not of sorrow or regret. It was of anger. Anger that bubbled up within her as she gritted her teeth. For a moment, her eyes closed as she clenched her tiny fists so hard that her knuckles became white. Her shoulders shook slightly as she lowered her face and the ground below her rumbled ever so slightly at the swell of rising Ki within her core. "Killing is a delay?" she repeated his words slowly. "A tool to hold them 'hostage'?" The child's words shook slightly as she allowed her head to rise once more as she opened her eyes. Instead of the glowing amethyst gemstones that had been held within those irises before, the Vessel of Light now boasted brilliant emeralds that glowed brightly with hellfire. Her right arm came up slowly as she grasped the crimson gateway that hung around her neck with lithe fingers. Back then... Back when her parents had been slaughtered. Back when her entire universe had been forced to bow at the fangs and claws of the Voracious Eaters... Earth-Sei had been the last fortress standing against the consuming wrath of the shadow demons. And try as her parents might, their strength could only hold off the inevitable for so long. As Vessels, they were strong. But strength was only relative. Against impossible odds, their last act had been to send two young children into the void of time and space so that they could survive. But when Maragai had arrived to this timeline... to this universe. Death was still present in the form of the very same demons that had laid waste to her own universe. And right now... Right now, the leader of those Voracious Eaters was imprisoned in Earth's Core. It would only be a matter of time before the demon was able to escape... And now, the Saiyan presence on Earth was more critical than ever. Maragai couldn't allow this man to doom Earth to death. She wouldn't"Is that supposed to be a joke!?" Maragai's voice was deeper than before as a golden haze of Ki could be seen manifesting around her lithe form. She wasn't fully transforming yet, but she was on the cusp of it, if one were to gauge her off of visuals alone But the girl was allowed no more words as Yan simply vanished. Even with her own speed bolstered, the Rasagin found she was still sorely outclassed in that department. Not that it mattered, her element reacted unconsciously once more, forming a protective barrier at her six o' clock. Light rose up, condensing and forming swiftly as energy smashed into it. Yan had played into the most cliche showing of speed blitzed-based warriors: attacking the seemingly unguarded rear of their opponents. The light bent beneath the blow, but it did not crack. And yet, the man attacked again in the same manner, as if the light that Maragai controlled was his true nemesis. Using that fraction of an instant, Maragai has spun around, allowing her barrier to mold around her with the movement. Her small hands came out as she tried to power her shield with more of her element. The emerald glow from her eyes was only overpowered by the crimson glow of her gateway. But despite that glow, Maragai felt somewhat empty inside. Je'sheln was not with her right now. Instead, the goddess of light was in South Galaxy, healing the wounded and lending her paw in aide to repair the damage done by the Makaioshin that the Vessel of Light had battled there. More Ki came, and Maragai felt herself being pushed back as the light began to weaken from the powerful flow of Ki that assaulted her element. Really... this wasn't even a fair fight. There was little Maragai could do against this storm of Ki except to brace herself and hope like hell she could exploit some mistake from this warrior. Some opening. If anything, the child of light was confident in her ability to weather through pain - that was a trait that had been passed down by her father. And against that pain, she only narrowed her emerald eyes as she focused on the anger that her borrowed transformation gave her. This man... This man could not be allowed to take Earth. There was far too much at stake - things that he couldn't begin to understand or comprehend. Her position on Earth as an Overlord... it wasn't for the sake of the Saiyans. It was for the sake of the humans. And the final blow of Ki came. In the face of it, Maragai only frowned as she reached out telepathically to Omega. Omega...What the hell is going on there, Maragai? Sensors are picking up titanic amounts of Ki! You need to get out of there and-Issue an evacuation to all personnel stationed on the moon, both the Saiyans and Humans, Maragai interloped him, her thoughts kept remarkably calm in the face of the storm of energy that accelerated towards her. I doubt that Earth's moon is going to survive this battle...And what about you? Came Omega's bellow. He's too strong for you to fight!I'm well aware of that, Maragai responded simply. But I can hold him off for as long as I can. Contact Tork'thal while I do so. If the moon is destroyed, it'll cause massive ecological damage for Earth. He's going to need to rebuild this moon or at least repair the damage done to it.There was a pause. Though it seemed that the pause lasted for an eternity, Maragai was aware that at the speed Yan was fighting her at, only an instant had passed in her rapid psionic conversation with the Saiyan Fleet Master. Fine, I'll issue the evacuation, Omega responded tersely. But the way you're talking... you're talking as if you're going to...I'm not going to die, Maragai told the powerful Saiyan. Not here. There's too much at stake. And if you do?Another pause as Maragai opened her eyes to see the final beam upon her. I won't.And the final beam connected with her summoned element. Her barrier finally broke against the relentless storm. And Earth's child, Luna screamed from the impact that the titanic explosion ensured. All around her, alarms began to blare out loudly as the moon reeled from the massive impact of Ki. Maragai tried her best to weather the attack out to the best of her ability, hissing slightly as the fine hairs on her arms were singed. And her skin seemed to boil at the point of impact, causing deep welts to form the parts of her body that were not protected by her armor. But the thin barrier of light she held around her prevented a large portion of the damage - the Vessel of Light knew. She had tanked the impact, if nothing else but to minimize the damage the Ki could do to the celestial she stood upon. Sure didn't stop her from hurting. Nor did it stop her from bleeding. Yan was strong, plain and simple. But instead of focusing on the pain, Maragai only focused her element while she used the cover of smoke and debris to hide her form. The glow that surrounded her began to glow even harsher than before as the young teen concentrated. Right now... She couldn't attack. There were too many lives around her who could easily be extinguished from the clash of their two powers. No... she had to bide her time. At least, until everyone was evacuated.
"We've been ordered to evacuate!" One voice rose up loudly from within the control room stationed on Luna. "Power up all of our Warp Conduits!" "And what about the Overlord?" another voice rose in protest. "We can't just leave her here!" "Don't underestimate her!" the Saiyan snarled back at the lower-ranked Saiyan. "She's a lot stronger than she lets on! She can handle herself!" "Yeah..." another voice rose in uncertainty. "But against something like that? It was then when the entire moon shook from the impact. Alarms began to blare loudly. "Shit!" the first Saiyan roared out. That last blow fucking took out our gravity machine! The moon is falling apart! At this rate, we won't even be able to breathe if that bastard keeps throwing out Ki like that! We need to move! Get the humans out first, we can hold our breath if needed." "Power has dropped to twenty-five percent, Commander!" Yet another voice rang out, this time, belonging to a human scientist. "Three of our power cells were destroyed! We can't take another hit here!" "Go, Shana!" The Commander growled at the human before turning to his second-in-command. "Redirect all power to our warp conduits and the barrier! We have to keep the oxygen in. We need to buy time for everyone to evacuate!" Panic seemed to be slowly ensuring on the base as the masses flocked to nearby machines to await warping back to Earth. A single Saiyan rose from his seat as he looked at the display before him. Luna had been shattered. And in a wall of smoke and debris, he knew that the Overlord had positioned herself in the epicenter of the invader's blast. Whatever damage her element had not absorbed, the young Overlord had opted to take the rest, if only to save the moon from being damaged too much. "Damn it all..."
Her light continued to swell and form within her. As much pain as her body was in, the child of light focused on her work. Her body was lighter now - the Rasagin noted. The last attack had rendered the artificial gravity here useless. But the Vessel of Light hardly had time to note that. And he came once more. Even if Maragai could not see him, she could damn sure sense him. After all, his Ki was overbearing when compared to her own. Sure, the gap in their power had been shortened considerably. But even that was not enough. Maragai was well aware of that. And instead of forming another simple barrier, the child of light created a construct of her element. A powerful-looking shield formed in her lithe arms as she brought the defensive equipment to bear against the attack. Upon it, many decorations could be seen, all in her own native language. It was the crest of royalty - of Rasagin origin. No longer, could she face this man as an "Overlord". Instead, she had to face him as a protector. And his fists clashed against the shield. But this powerful construct did not yield in the slightest as the man's blow was forced to simply ricochet off of the defense she had provided. With the dust and debris still around her, Maragai finally allowed her element to shine. She shone brighter than the sun itself. The light was nearly concussive in force, pushing away the debris and smoke in its wake as the entire moon seemed to bask in her glow. "You think death is such simple a consequence?" Maragai growled, looking up. Though in her current state, only the shape of her body could be seen - assuming that Yan could even look at her directly at this point. "Why don't you tell that to the millions of humans here that were killed because of the Steel Legion? Why don't you tell that to the thousands of Namekians that were slaughtered by Chaos? Why don't you tell that to my parents? Why don't you tell that to the Vessels that fell in battle before me, giving their lives to protect those who can't protect themselves?"Her voice was a roar now, both of challenge, and of power. "Yeah... I think I will consider you evil, all things considered," Maragai continued. The light-infused form she took began to splinter and crack in Yan's face. Another glowing figure seemed to emerge much like a butterfly forcing itself into freedom from its confining chrysalis. Maragai had emerged, but the form behind her condensed until a second form could be seen - one that looked exactly like her. And from her grasp, a healing light could be seen as Maragai felt her wounds rapidly healing. The pain that gripped her body before died down to a dull ache until the second form's eyes flickered into emeralds much like the original. She was showing her ability to transform into the realm of Saiyan legend herself. And from that point, the two teens glared up at Yan, speaking as one. "You have no idea what's at stake here, do you? You just want to spill my blood thinking that it will solve all of Earth's problems? You can't even begin to comprehend what sort of danger this planet is in. And trust me, it's not the Saiyans. Then again, I doubt you even care much, do you? You look for a short-term solution to a long-term problem. Your willingness to destroy this moon is evidenced enough of that! Did you even pause to think of the ecological damage Earth would suffer from Luna's destruction? Of course not. Because you lack vision. Sorry, but I can't die here. My death would mean this world's death."Maragai narrowed her emerald eyes. The clone stopped mirroring her words. "If you want to strike me down, then try to. But at least let the Saiyans and Humans who are in this base evacuate first. Your fight is with me, not them."General Prepped Items Prepped Weapon Techs Actions Stats:

He had done it now. Rage finally filled the girl, and he understood it, even if it was unreasonable. When he was as young as her, he might have responded the same...Well, no, he wouldn’t have. If someone told him that anyone who truly wanted to live could be brought back he would question how. He would beg for answers if he had to. Back then, when he believed death was a permanent end, he would have pried and pushed for answers rather than be enraged someone challenged his world view. Make him a little older, and even then he would likely not get angry because by then he had experienced what he knew then as the true death of the one person he cared for. Rather than understand the value of life from losing her, he ruled the world as unfair and that if it could take from him it could take from others and his part in it meant little. People would die. They would come back or they wouldn’t. Perhaps he wanted the world to hurt as he did. The exact phrasing might have gotten to him, had he not added the last part. Before then it read as if he didn’t understood the possible consequences killing someone could create, but he made note of those as well. He made note that he might feel differently if he destroyed someone for real. He might. Still, he understood where she could get angry. He understood the frustration of not being able to bring back those she loved. He understood his lack of delicacy towards those feelings. But he attacked anyway. His first attack hit her barrier fiercely, and it took a heavier brunt than her last one. His second attack however broke through more, and his third...Well, he did love to blow things up. It was more his style and the barrier barely touched the impact of this one. He pushed all the explosive force into its center, into Maragai, but they were still too close to the base. He had come here to avoid killing humans. The base however, was filled for the most part with Saiyans or Saiyan sympathizers. He had little concern for them, though as he felt a shift in his body weight he realized he might have overdone it. He would have to be more careful lest he cause enough damage to the rock that its gravitation pull on Earth was disrupted. Alarms were surely going off there as they were on the base. Earth was the king of natural and unnatural disasters. His ki would be felt all the way back down to the planet and the explosion could likely be seen. They weren’t in the moon’s shadow. Coastal cities would be quickly on alert, prepared for what might come next. Places like West City would be erecting barriers over entire cities. The technologies honed in the Galactic War served their purposes and gave him a little more freedom, but he still had to be careful or a certain scientist would kill him when all was said and done. His next attack crashed into a more physical shield, and he bounded backwards from it, bouncing just a little in the lighter gravity. It wasn’t completely gone, not yet, but the affects could certainly be felt. From behind the shield, light burst forth once more, and again, the shadowy aura rose around him to shield him from the worst of it, sending everything around him in a shadowy darkness to rival the girl’s light. She spoke again, and it made Yan blink in a small bit of a surprise. He didn’t expect her to know about the recent going ons of Namek. It was no longer of Protectorate planet and the PTO did its best to hush things up after the last Autocrat rebellion. He supposed it was possible Chaos killed them other times. At the least, it seemed Yan’s presence was a slippery as always, as she didn’t recognize him from any news feed. It was the worst example she could have given however. ”I did tell the Namekians,” Yan said with a small grin, as if holding back a laugh. ”Right after they were wished back to life.” Chaos and Yan’s battle had definitely been devastating. It had destroyed and entire quarter of the world but one wish could revive and entire planet’s population. A second wish could easily repair the environmental damage. A third wish made the whole thing an unpleasant dream. ”And do you know how they were able to gather the dragonballs after the PTO fell apart as always? Because Chaos was dead and couldn’t interfere,” he continued, shaking his head. ”Pretty sure he’s alive again now though.”Namek was the perfect testimony to his point. Everyone who died returned. The damage was overwritten. Chaos was delayed and completely turned off further interference with the planet, at least for the time being. He’d return sooner than later, seeking the dragonballs again and creating destruction and death, but that would be later and the fact that he could be killed gave the Namekians hope. ”I won’t speak of your parents,” he said his smile fading. ”Though my father definitely did not have enough will to live again. He felt his work was done. For good people, death means peace, and sometimes it is quite well earned.”Whether that was the case for her parents or the vessels, he couldn’t say, nor would he try to. Individuals were individuals and circumstances varied but he still believed in his point. People who desperately wanted to live found a way to live, unless their entire soul was shattered to the point they no longer existed. That was a difficult task to accomplish, unless the soul was already weakened from some outside force. Other than that, a hero might find the welcoming peace of heaven a worthy end. His aura fluctuated once more as he got his feet planted back on the ground. The darkness amplified again before pressing back to his skin . ”Now who’s got a low opinion of someone without any real knowledge backing it?” he asked grinning again. ”If you know Earth is in danger, why would you increase the danger with open doors to a hostile Saiyan presence? You underestimate them while you don’t even have the confidence to fight for Earth without support from the empire,” he said shaking his head again. ”Your blood is just one step.” His hand pulled back, rippling once more with ki. ”And I’m not afraid to take it.” So far all his attacks had been at close range to take full advantage of his speed. Throwing something now would surely seem slow in comparison, and yet as his arm suddenly shot forward with all his strength in the throw, the blast of ki rocketed towards her with just as much swiftness, aimed at her body in hopes of knocking her back in the lighter gravity. He ignored the clone for now. His fingers flexed out at the end of the throw, then suddenly clenched back into a fist, and another explosion seemed to appear right upon her injuries, attempting to explode up against her skin, even under her armor. ”For someone who waited this long to act, only to act this half assed, it seems we’re at a stalemate of who doesn’t deserve what.”A1. The Namekians... were alive? Maragai did not know of this. And frankly, she couldn't help but let out a small sigh of relief. At least some of those green-skinned farmers had survived, then. That... that was good. Of course, the Vessel of Light was well versed in what the Dragon Balls were and what the mystical orbs were capable of. But she was also aware of their limitations. The dragon-like deity housed inside of those orange gems was only as powerful as its creator, after all. Swept up in that notion as she brooded about her own fight on Namek two years ago, the teen found that she didn't have much time to answer Yan before he attacked again. She glanced up, her emerald eyes sparking as yet again, her element rushed to her defense. Gritting her teeth against the first blow of Ki, she was forced into the air briefly before her eyes snapped at Ki manifesting within her shield.
If only Je'sheln could have seen her host now. Maragai suspected that the goddess of light would have smiled at the Rasagin's expert level of manipulation with an alien element that most mortals would likely only be able to try and recreate. The girl brought the light closer, shielding her very skin as another explosion rocked her world. Still, the girl did not yell out as she slammed back into Luna's surface, kicking up rocks and debris as her fragile body slammed unceremoniously against the grey and dusty battlefield.
What the hell was taking so long? The Rasagin reached out with her senses. Surely the Saiyans here were well-prepared for evacuation! It shouldn't have taken them long to leave! There were still powers present, albeit less than before; Maragai reached out to connect with Omega.
Omega! What's the holdup? Everyone should have been gone by now!
I know, I know, Omega responded, sounding every bit as frustrated as Maragai was feeling. But that attack wiped out most of the base's power. They've only got one warp conduit operating at a hundred percent efficiency. Most of our non-combat personnel have evacuated already. Our warriors are going to be the last to leave. You just have to hold this asshole off for a bit longer.
Easier said than done, the young Rasagin responded bitterly as she dusted herself off and rose from the cracked ground. Her power fully flared up at the same time that her clone's did, showing off a swift transformation of brilliant gold before the twins' Ki immediately stabilized. Ebony locks transmuted to gold before simmering down to a ghostly white hue. There was no light show, no massive stir in power, and no fireworks. It was a clean and well-cut transformation, showing the Vessel of Light's aptitude with her Ki even when using an alien transformation. Her power swelled, but not enough to cause destruction. It spoke of grace rather than brute strength. I'm not sure how much longer I can keep letting him knock me around like this, though.
Please, the Fleet Master scoffed. Maragai could almost hear him snort even if her connection with him was telepathic in nature. You're nothing if not hardy. Just keep stalling for now. Once everyone is gone, I'll let you know. Then you can cut lose. Any damage you cause to Earth's moon can be repaired once Tork'thal gets here.
So he is on his way, then?
Yes, but... Omega hesitated.
But? Maragai pressed her second-in-command.
You know how he is. He's not the quickest in the universe, yeah?
Maragai audibly sighed and disconnected from Omega so she could peer at Yan carefully. The gap in their raw Ki was still vast - Maragai doubted she had much in her abilities to actually put down this man if push came to shove. And right now, they were far past the shoving part. Still, she had to do something... just what? Once more, the girl felt a pang in her gut as she felt the emptiness within her where Je'sheln would have normally been. Right now, more than ever, the girl yearned for the goddess' wisdom. She glanced to her right to take in the sight of her clone who seemed to be fidgeting in a mixture of excitement and other emotions that the child of light could only guess at. Even if this construct of light was an extension of her will, the clone seemed to have a mind of its own. Noticing the original's gaze, the clone glanced at her creator and sheepishly grinned.
Softly shaking her head, Maragai turned her gaze back at Yan.
"The Dragon Balls are a powerful tool, but not a reliable one. For one, the dragon is tied to its creator, I believe. Those stones can be rendered to stone if the creator's life is forfeit." the Rasagin spoke out clearly, forcing her voice to sound strong despite the ache that coursed through her body. "But if you speak the truth, than I'm glad they survived. I'm well aware that there is another set of those gems here on Earth-Sei. However, that kind of power is unusable for me. And tell me, are you the one who summoned the dragon on Namek? Were you the one to reverse the damage?" Maragai's voice was not challenging. Rather, there was genuine curiosity in it. Though Maragai knew of the Dragon Balls, she had never seen them used. In her own timeline, the Dragon Balls were nothing more than a ancient memory. The Voracious Eaters had rendered the powerful deity useless once they overtook Kami's Lookout. As for the rest of the Namekians...
Well, they had been wiped out years before the Rasagin had been born.
Of course, there were other reasons that the young Vessel of Light could not rely on those orbs, even in this timeline she was currently in. With her position as a Vessel, the Kais forbade it. Not only could she not use them to correct wrongs, but her own being made her life too powerful for the dragon to restore - if only because her body was used as a temple for an elemental deity. She was no longer mortal by the general definition. She could die, sure. She could age, sure. But her mind, body, and soul were intertwined with Je'sheln - a deity of unfathomable ability and status. Her soul was no longer her own.
Maragai doubted Yan would understand those sort of intricacies, though; Maragai decided to spare him from that explanation.
"You're wrong about my parents, though," Maragai continued, deciding to address Yan's attempt at explaining death as a final destination for some. "I know where you're coming from - death can be a final rest for some once they believe that their life has been fulfilled. But this..." Maragai scooped up the glowing crimson gem that hung around her neck with lithe fingers. She stared at it for a moment, her emerald eyes darkening as she thought back to Gosai and Blackfire. They, too, had been Vessels. "This isn't just a piece of jewelry... It means that they couldn't come back no matter how strong their will was or how much they wanted to correct the horrors that befell Earth-Sei. They're last act was to protect my sister and me by sending us away from that dead world. And..." Maragai's voice cracked. She blinked. Why was she even telling Yan this? Omega had said to stall him, but Maragai realized that the words she spoke wasn't even a conscious choice on her part to do so. She shook her head softly, removing her grasp on the Gateway.
She could feel her clone's curious gaze on her, but chose to ignore it.
"The same being that killed them... he's a constant. At least from that time to this time. Yeah, I formed an opinion about you just as you formed an opinion about me." The Rasagin held Yan's gaze, her emerald eyes holding a glow behind those irises. "I'm trying to stop history from repeating itself. My parents were the only ones who could defend Earth back then... I was only six at the time and didn't even know what was really going on. But now... now I have a chance to stop it with an army. And yes, I know that the Traditionalists are a threat. And it's a threat I have to deal with. The Saiyans loyal to me want nothing to do with the Empire, and neither do I! And whether you think that my intentions are self-absorbed or not, my priorities are to this planet and its people. It's the reason I don't rule the humans - I let them live their own lives. The only people I command are the Saiyans who are loyal to both me and my vision of protecting this world. They're the ones who give themselves to me because they want to make a difference for both themselves and this planet they've grown fond of." Maragai narrowed her eyes. "The people they've grown fond of."
Her thoughts flew back to Omega. As gruff as the man liked to portray himself as, the powerful Saiyan had a soft spot. Not only had he helped Maragai grow when she had been thrust into this timeline, but he had also learned to love. Not her, but a human by the name of Megumi. And his story was one of many. Maragai knew that many of the Saiyans loyal to her had found mates among the humans. To tear that away from them... well, it was a crime.
"You can have my blood if it means that much to you." Maragai glanced at her clone. "But the only reason that my 'act' seems to be 'half-assed' is because I am waiting for Luna to be cleared. After, I will fight you every step of the way and-" Maragai started as she felt the last power leave Luna. A soft sigh left her thin lips.
Luna is clear. You two are the last ones on it, Omega's voice invaded her mind.
"And that starts now."
As if her words were a signal, chains of light erupted from the grey ground beneath Yan's feet in a swift manner, attempting to wrap the man in binds made of Maragai's construct. Which of the two Maragai present had constructed the chains? Who could really tell? Neither one of them made a single move until Maragai reached out with her hands and allowed the entire satellite to shake beneath her psionic ability. The shattered grounds around her presented a keen opportunity to use that rubble to good effect. And as her father always joked about her mother's telekinetic abilities by calling it 'death by inches', Maragai commanded a storm of sharp debris to rise into the air and shift around until it formed into a literal tornado of twisted rock. With swift movements from her tiny hands, Maragai called the storm down upon Yan, trying to place the man into the epicenter of the titanic twister.
"I will protect this world! I will protect these people!" she called out above the howling scream of colliding debris. "Sure, you can call it something of self-absorbed wishes. But if you were there in my timeline. If you saw the death of not only Earth, but the entire universe as I did..." Maragai paused, trying to hold back tears from those haunting memories. "I have to do this! It's the only way!"

Once more his attacks pelted into a defensive barrier. This time it lingered though it was obviously far weakened. After fighting against Chaos’s never ending defenses however, hers felt weak. She had still taken a dangerous amount of damage and relied too heavily on the falling shield, letting pieces of his attack still hit her, piling on more and more damage. For a Saiyan, or whatever she was, she did not seem like an experienced battler and he felt the tiniest bit disappointed. He had seen her battle once before after all, and that had been a much more impressive showing. He knew she was stalling, but experience would have changed her tactics drastically, to the same positive effect. If he really wanted to, he could have already gone all out, then where would she be? Instead he let her talk, her let her have space to breathe, something he took from other opponents quite fiercely. ”You’re not listening,” he said, which seemed to sum up the whole meeting. ”More often than not, you don’t need some powerful tool. Hell, there’s an open portal into the Next Dimension on Damaskia people can just walk out of!” Revival was beyond easy. He didn’t know even a weak warrior to stay dead for more than a month. Some fell deeper, got trapped in hell or found rest but the majority returned without much effort. ”Then they died a true death,” Yan said simply in reply to her parents. ”They fell victim to a set of circumstances, but if you place every death at the same standard you’re essentially saying fast food is the same as a gourmet meal.” It was a childish view, and an ignorant one. He didn’t downplay the threat she spoke of though. He knew beasts and creatures that could destroy entire universes. He knew there were forces beyond mortal understanding. He didn’t doubt such a threat could exist, and he didn’t doubt her sincere wish to stop it. ”If you want nothing to do with them, renounce them entirely,” he said. It was an offering but generally what he had been saying from the beginning. ”If your army is truly loyal to you, they will follow. If they truly see your greater cause and the corruption of the Saiyan Empire, if they can truly be trusted, they will follow you.”Of course, Yan hadn’t meant she was being half assed in this battle. He meant she had been half assed in dealing with the Tradionalists. She had waited until only now, when so many Earthlings had already given up hope, to strike against them. Even fighting them with hesitance in killing them when they had killed and worse for years lacked rightful determination. Facing Yan now, holding him off, protecting the people she could...There was things she could have done better, a lot of things, but at least she stood her ground. The fact that she didn’t listen for an alternative to all this was, well, annoying. He didn’t have enough time to say as much however as she turned to release a counter attack. She tried to chain him and a sly smile crossed his face. As soon as the ki touched his skin, rather than harming him or strangling him, it shattered into a glowing mist that was quickly absorbed back into the ground. The question of which Maragai made the attack was answered as her own ki shot back out of the ground from under her, replicating the same chains that now attempted to bind her instead. It may have been a construct, but Yan was getting used to them now, and they still, at their heart, used ki, which meant he could manipulate it as easily as anyone else’s attacks. As if to counter that train of thought however, her next move was of the psychic variety. Her powers were much more advanced than Chaos’. He was reminded instead of Hayami, which was a high compliment. He knew he could do little to control her assault, but psychic abilities tended to be powered at their core by will, and Yan’s will could not be broken. The sharp shards of earth moved to strike him and his own force smashed against them causing a thunderous clap. In brute force, his mental prowess should have been higher, crumbling the points and sending weaker ones flying back. His teeth grit under the strain but his mouth stayed in a thin lipped smile, refusing to be pushed back until a dome of his own psychic energy crushed the storm entirely. If some had managed to get through despite this, he refused to acknowledge it, looking up to her with a less strained smile. ”There’s never only one way,” he said simply. ”It’s merely the only one you find tolerable.”Energy sparked around him once more, but this time it was different. Whatever he was doing was fuelled by ki, but like her constructs, it seemed to manipulate the world around them. It was a strange task performing this technique on the moon where the magnetic field was weaker, but he took from the forces of his earlier explosions and gripped at the atoms surrounding the two girls, and then ripped. Another huge explosion shook the moon. Above the surface, targeting the two flying girls, the heat was immense with destructive power and heavy force. The shockwave followed, giving chase to any attempt to flee. The remaining shielding on the base crumbled and fell away, but the little protection it gave kept parts of it whole, at least for now. The crater that had already formed smushed further down as if crushed by a heavy weight, and the crust rippled as the debris flew back as if by a vicious storm. It was another controlled explosion, and yet the strength of it could not be denied. He had the full power to completely destroy the moon, but he was actually trying not to. There was a reason he asked to fight here, and not on the populated surface below, but he doubted Maragai in her paranoia of destruction everywhere and loss of life would be able to see or understand as much. He would after all, destroy what he must to take her apart. His own energy rose and settled on his skin once more, ready for more release A1. Reflect IC2 (Chou No Ryoku) A2. "I'm not debating the fact that some people can come back from the dead," Maragai hissed through clenched teeth as she allowed some of her exasperation to show at the man's words. "And yeah. Perhaps I am a bit biased, considering what happened to my parents. But just as I am biased to those scenarios, you, too, are biased to the exact opposite. And for what? You use those examples to justify killing people? The murders? The families you rend? The lives to tear?" Maragai clenched her fists. "At least I use my own errors to try and make this universe better! the Vessel cried out. "From what you've told me, you've lost people as well, haven't you? Would violence bring them back? Would they smile at your decisions? Just listen to me, dammit!"
The child's words were accented with the rippling of thunder even though there were no storm clouds in sight. Perhaps it was a gift from her mother, the Vessel of Lightning.
Perhaps it was something else.
Either way, when Maragai looked up, there were tears in her emerald eyes. She tried to stem them. Je'sheln knew she tried. But Yan's next words had cut deep into her soul itself.
He had undermined her parent's death. Whether he intended to or not, his words were almost condescending to the young Rasagin's ears. And at that point, the child of light didn't really much care for whatever sort of portal Damaskia-Sei had. Somehow, she doubted that the Kaioshins were happy with such a rig, but hey! Who the hell was she to debate when she was in the company of the literal gods who frequented that dimension. After all, Yan seemed to have a twisted ideal for what death really was.
Was she right?
Was she wrong?
Who really knew.
But with only fourteen years of existence behind her, Maragai had seen things that haunted her in her dreams. Yan's words were once more hollow in her ears. The young Rasagin took a deep and steadying breath if only to calm herself in the distinct clash of their two personas. She witnessed his eyes. She witnessed his actions. She watched quite calmly as the light seemingly betrayed her and erupted from the ground to ensnare her. Though her clone jumped back, the original only held Yan with a piercing emerald glare. She could tell. This light... this light was not of Yan's control. Rather, she could sense his corruptive Ki entangling it. And when the chains wrapped around her body, it was simply purified. Back in touch with its host once more, the heavenly element bent to her will and shed its corruption. To his eye, the reflected attack looked as if simply melted into her skin and vanished. Slowly, her wounds began to heal as the light touched her. A soft sigh escaped the child's lips as she felt the relief.
She didn't bat an eye.
She didn't skip a beat.
Even when he battled against her telepathic assault with his own, Maragai did not flinch. There were many creatures out in the universe with psionic abilities that rivaled that of a Rasagin. This was nothing new to her. But instead, this gave her something of a challenge. At least, it would have, were it not for the exasperation that grew within her.
Annex from the Saiyan Empire? Wasn't that obvious? Out of all the words that had been thrown about during the encounter between attacker and defender, at last, Maragai found common ground. Still, she did not give words to her thoughts. The man before her instead launched into his own attack. Though his movements were subtle, his Ki spoke volumes. And from there, the clone finally moved closer to is original as Maragai sank into a defensive stance. Two sisters... two twins... Even if she was nothing more than a construct of both her element and will, the two acted as one, erecting a powerful shield of light to weather the storm of Ki.
And that Ki hurt.
Maragai had already accepted that this man before her was exponentially stronger than she. And as many scenarios that ran through her mind, there were zero instances where she would have been able to win in an all-out war. But if anything, Maragai held on to hope. As foolish and idealistic as it may have been, the child of light weathered the storm. As the Ki tore at her body, she simply allowed Je'sheln's element to mend those wounds and close the gashes. She focused on only one thought - the sight of her parents as they fell to Bor'yoku. And the same powerful glare she would have given that demon...
She gave to Yan.
Her clone seemed winded, but not broken. The construct let out a gasp as she stepped back from the aftermath, stumbling slightly before Maragai caught her mirror image in her arms. She looked down into those emerald eyes and saw a determination in return. The two twins only nodded briefly as Maragai let the construct back up and turned to Yan.
You're asking me to Annex from the Saiyan Empire?" she asked, sounding almost offended. The young teen stepped forward, gathering her energy as her clone took her side. "You don't think I'm already doing that?" came her shrill question. "I don't need you to tell me the hypotheticals when it comes down to the loyalty of the Saiyans who choose to follow me." The Vessel of Light put a heavy emphasis on the word as if trying to make some sort of point. She took a single step forward on the gravity-void moon and nodded encouragingly to her clone as it did the same.
"These Saiyans will follow my will to their dying breath," Maragai told her assailant. "And not because they believe in me. But because they have made this planet their home! They have lives here! Mates! Children, even! And Both they and I have full intentions on leaving the Saiyan Empire for good. But that call can only happen when I can ensure that the people of this beautiful planet cannot suffer any more than they already have. When I make that call, it will be at the right time. Not something half-assed."
Once more, Maragai repeated Yan's own phrase. Had she misinterpreted his message? Well, it was very much likely. After all, English and Common were not her first language!
Regardless, there was an emerald fire in those beautiful eyes as both she and her sister moved together and birthed a powerful storm of azure energy. If Yan truely knew about this planet, he would have likely recognized Muten Roshi's technique.
"Of course there's another way!" This time, both of the Maragai spoke. "But when you've already been through it once, you have a better idea about how to combat the death of everything. And I put more stock into my idea rather than a simple ploy of killing. But please, tell me this. What would be your answer?"
Somehow, Maragai had an idea of what the man would say. Or at least, she thought she did.
Instead, the two Rasagin teens pushed their arms out in tandem. And from the near oxygen-less grounds, a single cry erupted.
"Kamehameha!"
The two beams rushed forward, seemingly one attack. But it didn't take long for the two beams to both separate and take Yan on either side. They energy closed in on itself, rising at the last minute, delaying on any sort of inevitable explosion until the beams sailed off into the manufactured sky.

Another incredible round from both combatants! It was very close again, but the edge goes to Maragai this time. The environmental impacts alongside NPC dialogue and her reactions to the topic of her parents and death were not the only factors, but definitely made a contribution.

”When necessary,” Yan answered about justifying things, but he ignored the rest. He had lost people. He had lost people because of his violent nature even. But that’s how this was wasn’t it? Yan was the bad guy here. He was always the bad guy. In every story no matter what he tried to do. Free Namek? Oh, you blew it half to death. Save Juch? Kelioux ends up so destroyed Adel disowns him, forget about the Cosmic Empire’s part in it. Did nothing but love and care for someone? He still did something deemed unforgivable. Today was just another day. He was ousting Maragai because she was overstepping. She was creating a civil war between the Saiyans while refusing to acknowledge the amount of strife it added compared to what would happen if she renounced the Empire entirely and led Earth to true freedom. Maragai was right and golden and trying to do the best for everyone however, so her opinion mattered more. It didn’t matter that he saw through her strategy and saw all its flaws. It didn’t matter that he was a Damaskian Commander, with far more experience in war than her. His opinion didn’t mean as much because he was bad. His experiences were evil and he approached her with violence and that made him wretched even though that was his only choice. Because as much as she wanted to play it differently, as much as she wanted to twist it, to stop her from making this grave mistake she had to be taken down. She needed ripped from the empire. If she wouldn’t fall willingly, her death would do. He was the bad guy, so as always, that made his decision very easy to make. The impression was made, which gave him no reason not to go to whatever lengths he needed to to get the results he wanted. ”Remove the appointed Overlord of Earth. The forces become unstabilized as traditionalists attempt to make rises to power themselves. They fight among themselves. The Empire does not interfere because the King does not care and the Prince has been missing from all his duties. Earth is left to be conquered once more, or push out the empire entirely,” he said again, for what was going to be the final time. ”As long as you are Overlord in the Saiyan Empire’s eyes, you are in the way.”Yan’s foot slid backwards as the girl’s arms took the trade mark positioning for a warrior of Earth. His muscles loosened and he stared down the two girls with an unwavering gaze. He was listening, but he heard it before. He thought it before. While he didn’t know her motives before now, or that there was some ancient otherworldly threat to Earth--though there often was one, just the other day Entei almost destroyed the universe from an Earth mountain top--he had studied the way she did things. He had watched her movements and her hesitation. He took note to the progress her troops made. Before coming up with this idea, this entertaining game for the day, he had collected as much data as possible. If this were Vegeta-sei he might be a little less informed, but Earth was one of Yan’s favorite planets, and his connections here ran deep. She could not win. In ability for this fight, and for Earth, she could not win. The beams shot forward. He waited until the exact moment they split and than with a rush of speed he vanished from the spot. He didn’t go far, his own energy pooling into his hands. His speed took him just behind the curve of the weaker beam. His feet planted and his wrists pulled together so that he could shoot his own ki at the exact moment the other girls’ attacks crashed into each other. His slammed against them immediately after, enforcing the power behind the faux Maragai’s beam so that both of them shot forward to push back the other beam. His empowered beam moved straight through the other’s original arc and back at the weakened girl. His front foot slammed forward and he pushed as much ki and strength into it as possible. The effect was immediate. His ate hers up and followed the path it created right back to the source, and the girl. Whatever happened, the connection snapped in the end, either hitting her or who knows what was it. Yan was self proclaimed King of Explosions. He wasn’t nearly as adept with beams. When it came to ki control and overpowering ki however, he refused to lose. His gaze focused this time on the weaker girl. That was the only way he could really tell them apart. The clone was far weaker, another construct of the magical girl. She was less hindered so far, since he hadn’t given her as much love and affection. The real Maragai looked far too fresh for his liking, at least before the beam struggle, and he had no way of knowing for sure exactly how powerful her healing magic was, but he knew for a fact he would need to take the construct down as well as her. If their eyes met, he’d flash her a grin, and then with another rush of speed he was upon her. She might have seen speed far faster than his. Her eyes might be used to following it. She might be able to see and know what was happening, but could she move in time to properly respond to it? If not, his fists would slam into her, coated in a thick misty blue ki that aimed to rip her apart and drive right through her. Whether he hit or not, he pushed himself back to the moon floor, the lacking gravity protesting a little. His fingers flexed, growing back into the monstrous claws, and then glowed, power welling up once more. ”I guess I should ask,” he said looking up to the two girls, or what was left of them. ”Will you die for real?”Not waiting for an answer, he pushed both his hands forward and another beam shot from him. Like earlier, he moved to push ki and strength behind it so that it shot with dangerous speed directly at the real Maragai. If this was a true death, how would he feel? He couldn’t say, but he shot that final attack with a different mindset. Through test, and trial, and pain did we grow. If she could not survive something like this, it would show what she had been worth. If she didn’t want to be tested in this way, she shouldn’t have chosen the path of a warrior. People would mourn her. Her friends and makeshift family would be devastated surely, but it was part of her choice, and as he said before there were always other options. She could have lived a normal life. She could have found a way to fight this beast that did not put her in such a reckless position. This was her choice, her life, and death lingered all around it, whether it was from him or something else. Whether the beam hit her or not, it reached an ending point and exploded. Again, it was above the moon’s surface. It wasn’t as large as the previous eruption but it was still enormous, its power whole and mighty. Their battle field would dig itself deeper into the moon’s crust. He was carving out a canyon it seemed, but still, the control was careful and precise. His aim was for her and her construct to feel the brunt of the explosion, and he carried out that will the best he could. At this point however, it kind of seemed like he could blow up the moon and everyone would be fine. Maragai kind of seemed cocky about that now. He almost felt like testing it. Almost. If she survived all this, maybe they would get there. A1. ST + Dodge IC2 A2-3. Charged Empowered Masenko [DR10.5] (20%/16%) vs a4-Tact {ADV: PL, DR, Ki} Speed.
